This will never happen again so I am SOOOO excited! I just got back from a trip to Disney with my mom in Dec (link to report is in my sig!) and now I have to quickly start planning a trip for May to watch my good friend get married at the World!! YAYYYYYYYYY!!!! Who would have thought 2 Disney trips in SUCH short time?! I'm practically dancing like that darn dancing banana! hehehehe

My feeling is it's never to early to start planning for a trip to Disney...so here's what I've got down so far...

When...well the wedding itself is Saturday, May 10th, 2008. I want to get there DEFINITELY by Thursday but I'm trying to plan it so I'm down there on Wednesday morning. Stay until Sunday evening and fly home back to Newark that night.

Who...

Actually, first maybe I should tell you all who's getting married. My good friend Lisa and her fiance are tying the knot!! I've known Lisa since I was 11 or 12?! We've both been Disney nuts our whole entire lives...but I digress... Back then in 1991 or 1992, the Mickey Mouse Club (before Britney, etc) was in full force and we started writing to each other through a huge pen pal clan of MMC fans. She lived in Long Island, and I in Jersey so we were pretty close in terms of distance and our parents one day allowed us to meet up and hang out. The families realized that the other family wasn't so crazy or weird so after a few more get togethers, we started hanging out a lot more. Anyways... both of our families were ridiculous Disney fans and as the years went on and we became better friends, we would bring each other on our family trips to Disney. Some years the two of us got to go to Disney twice since both our families would go at different times of the year! It was awesome!

We both always said we wanted to get married at Disney. We've kind of drifted apart but still kept in touch with each other on a somewhat regular basis. We probably haven't seen each other though in about 2 or 3 years but we're hopefully going to grab dinner together next Friday! Well, low and behold, Lisa is engaged (while I'm still single! haha!) and has followed through and "brainwashed" her fiance to get married down at the World! When I found out the news I was SOOO happy! We've been talking about this since we were 13!!

Here's Lisa and I probably the last time we saw each other in 2003?

I'll try to scan some of our OLD disney trip pics eventually and put them up here! :)

OK...so now that the history lesson is over...here's more of the newer details!

I'm definitely going. That's about all I know. I know my family is invited as well. Sadly I know it will be way too hot for my mom to bring her back in May. She'll be miserable. And when I first brought it up to my father and step mother, they were really excited about it. But now my father called me last week and tells me that they don't know if they're going to come because step-mom is not the BIGGEST Disney fan and they were just there in September for their anniversary. Um...hello?! It's a WEDDING... NOT just a normal trip to Disney. :sad2: But whatever. I'm not going to let that get me down. If anything, I will be going down to the world solo. I do have friends that live in FL (if you kept up with my other trippie, you'll have read about them!) so I was going to see if they wanted to meet up for a few days or I'll just wander around on my own, not a problem! I've always wanted to see what a solo trip is like!

I have NO idea where I'm staying yet. I guess that all depends on who I'm going with. If I'm going solo, I'm pretty sure I'll be back at Pop to save some money. Dad and step-mom will only stay at one of the MK deluxe resorts :-)confused3 ) so if they end up coming, I'll be with them. When I talked about hotels with Lisa, she mentioned not worrying for hotel because her parents and her have it covered. I'm not really sure what that means but I'd feel bad if they actually pay for everyone's hotel rooms!! Yikes! If that's the route they're going, then I'll be gladly and thankfully staying wherever they want to stick me!

As for airfare, I just checked JetBlue and there's an 8am flight leaving Wed and a 7pm flight leaving to go home on Sunday for a total of about $280. That's not bad at all for Jersey to Orlando in May! I've never flown JetBlue either and have only heard pretty decent things about them. Can't wait!

Oh...and idiot me FORGOT to upgrade my 6 day park hopper to an annual pass when I was down there in Dec and will totally be paying WAY TOO MUCH for park passes this time around. boooooo!

Ok and now the funny part... while I do not have airline tickets, hotel, or park passes yet... I already started making my dining reservations! :rotfl: Sitting on the couch a few weeks ago I started trying to see how many days were left until the wedding. I almost fell off the couch when I realized I was already at the 170 day mark and I DIDN'T MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR LE CELIER YET! hahaha... I have heard it's gone down in quality since they changed head chefs...but hey.. I figured I'd give it a shot. So i called Disney Dining and was able to snag a reservation for 4 (who KNOWS who'll be joining me!) for 7:20pm (that was the earliest they had available!) for Thursday the 8th. I'm not worrying about missing Illuminations due to the wedding day plans, which I'll tell you guys about in a minute.

I'm sitting here with a calendar in front of me trying to figure out where else to make reservations. I LOVED LOVED LOVED Chefs de France in December and reviews just keep getting better and better so I REALLY want to eat there again. If my father comes though, I know they're going to want to try Teppan Edo. That's all fine..but now we have 3 dinner reservations for Epcot and we're not going to just be at Epcot! :) We're not big fans of any sit down at MK. Dad isnt a huge fan of AK in general and I dont think I want to eat dinner there, even though I really enjoyed Yak and Yeti last time. And I don't think we'll be at either MGM or AK that much for this short trip anyways. For breakfast, I definitely want to eat at Kona for some Tonga toast! And then there's always Ohana too. :( AHHHHH! A 4 day trip is so not long enough for me to eat around Disney! hahaha! I also loved dinner at Kona so that's on the list of possibilities too!

I think I want to just stick to MK and Epcot for the trip and maybe do a few hours at the other 2 parks one day. Most of the day Saturday will be consumed with the actual wedding festivities so that kills that whole day (in a good way!).

Here's the rundown that I think Lisa said is pretty definite for the day of the wedding...

12pm – 1pm: reception at the wedding pavilion
1pm – 2pm: cocktail hour (i'm guessing at the pavilion? i didnt ask yet!)
2pm – 5/6pm: reception
8/8:30: private viewing area for the fireworks at Epcot and dessert (i think dessert is at epcot!)

Whew! I think that's all the info I have so far!! I think in a little bit I'll call Disney dining and see what else is available for everything. Wish me luck! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Oh wow I'm first! Sounds like such a great trip. How lucky of your friend to be getting married down there. Thats my dream too! :bride:

I'm so sad we are going to be missing each other by just a few days. I'm flying down the 14th before my cruise.

Don't worry if you end up solo though. It's really fun and a whole new experience. Looking forward to more of your trippie!!!

Woo Hoo I'm here for the ride!:cool1:

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip planning. And where the heck are you going to being staying?! It will be very cool if Lisa is paying for your hotel stay, it will make up for the price of your park passes.

Happy planning!

Ok, I'm back again! (You're inspiring me to start my own pre-trippie for the surprise trip I'm taking with my 12yr.old in June!)

Anyway, I'm so looking forward to hearing a first-hand account of a wedding at Disney - and your gorgeous pictures.

BTW - you mention not upgrading your park-hoppers to an AP. How do you do that? We were just there in Nov. and now going back in June AND early Nov. of this year. Can we upgrade our parkhoppers from this past Nov.?

Hey, you started your new pre trippie already!!

Did you put the link in your other trip report?

I had no idea, but am excited!!!!

That is so cool you have beeen friends for that long and met thru a pen pal thing with MMC...I loved that show:goodvibes

Too funny you already made your dining ressies, and don.;t even have a hotel or plane tickets yet:rotfl2:

I love it...I would so do the same thing, eating is an important part of a disney trip in my book:thumbsup2

I hear Jetblue is awesome!!! I think that each chair has it own tv on the chair in front of them with own headsets...so cool:goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more details as they develop:thumbsup2

Aw, too bad we're missing each other! :( And I'm actually excited that this might be a solo trip! I've always wanted to try Disney solo!

Welcome aboard!!! :) I have NO idea where I'll be staying! I'm so excited though! I do have some news so hopefully I can post a small update at work today. Nothing huge though!

Yay! Welcome over here too! :) I can not WAIT to see a wedding at Disney! I'm so excited!!

About upgrading the passes... I was told you can only upgrade your pass up to 14 days after your original pass expires. :( So I think both of us are out of luck. I'm going to attempt to call though and see what they tell me. I doubt it'll work though and I'll have to suck up the extra hundred bucks I COULD have saved! Boooo!

:goodvibes I'm here!!!
Awww a wedding at Disney!

I can't wait to try JetBlue! :) I only hear good things (minus that 11hour stay on the taxiway they had a few months ago! lol):thumbsup2

JetBlue is awesome.

Nice!! :) I love hearing good things about them!

Anxiously awaiting the next installment! News on where you'll be staying and who will be paying?

Hey everyone!! So here's a quick and uneventful update! :)

So the day after I posted the first part of this pre-trip, my dad calls and wakes me up and tells me that they decided that they will be heading down to Disney with me. But then we start talking and it's obvious that we both have two totally different ideas as to what our itinerary should be. He wants to fly down Thursday, I want Wednesday. They are only going to go to the wedding ceremony and not the reception. They want to fly home Sunday morning, I want Sunday evening. So we decided to talk more about it later and figure it out. Fast forward to last night at my goddaughters christening (she's one of triplets...SO CUTE! haha!)... I was talking with my dad and he brought up Disney again. We were talking about where to stay and stuff and I told him I still haven't talked to Lisa about what's going on with hotels.

Then we start talking about the trip in general and he asks if anyone else I know is going, etc...because if I'm going to be with other people the whole time, maybe they won't go. I have a feeling there's a little 'birdie' chirping in his ear a lot about this trip, which is fine...but make up your minds! haha!

I reasured him that they can do whatever they want. I'm a big girl... I can take care of myself and I can go all by myself to Disney World. Ha...I pointed out that when I was 12, my parents would allow Lisa (the bride to be) and I to wander the World by ourselves and meet them for dinner. We can navigate the parks blindfolded! If they want to come, they can come... if they don't? They don't have to. I pointed out again that I'm going down Wednesday regardless. I want to make the most out of my trip and Saturday is already shot in terms of seeing the parks due to the wedding.

I also told him that I started making dining reservations.. Here's what I have so far..

Wed: dinner at Chefs de France (SOOOO good last time!)
Thurs: dinner at Le Celier
Fri: dinner at Teppan Edo
Sat: breakfast at Kona
Sun: breakfast at Ohana

all the reservations are for 4 people in case they decide to come and then I can drag a friend with me. When I'm done writing this report, I want to lurk around the rest of the DisBoards and see what I can find about dining solo. I know in a million podcasts, I've heard of places that have a bar that solo diners can eat at without taking up a table. Sadly though, I don't remember ANY of them since I wasn't really trying to plan a solo trip! haha! Does anyone know of any? :)

Well that's it for now... pretty uneventful! Hopefully I'll be able to talk to Lisa soon and figure more things out! And hopefully dad and step-mom will make up their darn minds! Oh well...off to learn about solo traveling :)

Hopefully your dad and step mom will decide soon. It's good that they know that you are planning no matter if they go or not.

About the solo dining I don't know about the no reservations bar technique. But I do know that in my past 3 solo trips I've always had awesome service and great table locations. The servers always take the time to talk to me and they have been more than pleasant. Like when I went to Chefs de France in July my server was telling me all about France and how he like it over here. It really was fun. Not to mention nice eye candy :rotfl:.

I'm also trying Kona and Le cellier too. I've heard soooo many great things about them.

I wish I remembered when our waiter, Sebastian, from Chefs de France was heading back to France! :) Talk about some eye candy! hahaha! Thanks for the advice... I'm sure I wont have a problem solo dining! :)

Ugh! Don't ya hate having to involve others in your Disney planning? Stick to your guns - you've got a great attitude!:thumbsup2

Your ADRs look great - was surprised to see you could get LeCellier - love that place! I've never been to Chefs de France, but I've gotten an ADR in June for my trip with my daughter. I'm really looking forward to it!

OK... so yet ANOTHER indecisive update!! Just talked to dad and they're still good to go down for a few days. Now I just have to really sit down and think on what I want to do!

I'm coming to the realization that this trip isn't going to be 100% what I dreamed about in terms of what I want to do! lol If any of you remember my first pre-trip...I mentioned that my dad and I are a little too alike in terms of wanting to rule the planning, etc. Plus we have to throw in my not-so-Disney-fan of a step mom into the mix! haha! When I went with my mom, she was totally laid back and let me plan every little detail, so it was great! I was also getting all excited with the possibility that this might be a solo trip for me. Oh well...guess not!

So we had a big discussion about me wanting to stay later on Sunday. I explained that I'm pretty much missing a whole day already at the parks on Saturday due to the wedding so I kinda wanted to stay late on Sunday so I could at least get a few hours at the parks. They are TOTALLY against that, at least for them, and want to take a 12:30pm flight home, which means your whole day is shot already!! Even breakfast at Ohana will either have to be moved earlier than 8am or totally wiped off the itinerary. Dad DID mention maybe going down on Tuesday then but I sadly had to decline. :( I have 3 weddings this year, plus a bachelorette party in Vegas and I'm REALLLY tight on vacation days as it is! So sadly, we can't go down a day earlier! Boo! Yay for dad for suggesting it though! haha! :woohoo:

Dad said I can do whatever I want but they're going home early and then it's a hassle trying to get a car service or someone to pick me up from the airport later on at night. If I went with them, I'd have no hassle in getting home. Which is true.

I told him all of the dining reservations I had made and he was pretty happy with it. He kept saying that they've been to Chefs de France and it was just ok but then I reminded him that they went YEARS ago and it is OH SO MUCH BETTER! haha! He's excited about Le Cellier so hopefully it lives up to its hype! He did point out that we're eating at Epcot every night we're down there but hey...that's what happens when we don't really care for the restaurants at the MK! I also mentioned Yak and Yeti but again, we're not sure we're even going to make it to AK on this trip and it's not worth going to AK JUST to eat there. We both agreed that we aren't going to go to Hollywood Studios unless we run out of things to do at MK or Epcot..which....won't happen.. I'd rather go to AK instead cause step-mom hasn't been there yet.

So I think I'm going to cave and not spend the full day on Sunday down at Disney, and just head home with dad and step-mom. I keep telling myself I WAS only there in December! And i'm there for a WEDDING! But it's so hard! When you're there you want to do EVERYTHING! I guess as long as I see Captain Jack... OH WAIT!!! Lightbulb just went off in my head...

On AllEars there's an announcement that Disney was thinking of extending the Pirates and Princess Party into May or so. I did notice that the MK closes at 7pm on Friday...does anyone know if it's due to a PPP?! If it is... I might just have to drag Sarah or someone else with me again (or go solo...lol) to run around the MK and get my fix! :rotfl: And I can get my picture with Jack!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!! hahahaha :lovestruc

OK enough babbling... I think I'm just talking to myself trying to figure out what I want to do! And the more I write, the more I think I'm ok with following dads plan! :)

Popular theory is that a seven o'clock close equals a PPP.

Hey everyone! Quick update! :)

I never got to go to dinner with my friend Lisa (the bride!) because it was sleeting and doing icky stuff outside and neither of us wanted to trek out to NYC in that weather. I don't mind driving in the city...but everyone else turns into an idiot and forgets how to drive in bad weather! :(

So we DID book our plane tickets!! Dad and I compromised as to the time we'd leave Disney on Sunday. We're taking an 8:30am flight out of Newark on Wednesday and then on Sunday our flight is at 4:15 I think out of MCO. That gives us some time to go to breakfast and enjoy Disney just a little longer without having to rush around.

That's all the news I have for now! I'm still debating if we should eat at Teppan Edo on Friday. When my mom and I ate there it was decent.... but I've been hearing more and more bad things about it lately! :( Booooo!!!!

I see I missed a few updates....iam such a slacker:rotfl:

WOOHOO to booking your flight:cool1:

That is great that you and your dad were able to compromise and you at least get a few hours to hit the parks on Sunday before you leave:thumbsup2

Wohoooo for booking your plane tickets!!!! :cool1:

Have you talked at all about where you are going to stay?
