Hi everyone~

I just booked POFQ for August 6-12th, and I am very, very, VERY excited. Maybe more than my kids! Actually, we haven't told them yet (they just know we are "thinking about " going back...) I wish I cold keep if for a surprise for them, but there is no way!

Anyways, I have never been to Florida in the summer months, and I was wondering what to expect weather-wise. I know it will be hot and humid, but how much does it rain? Any tips for me?

Thanks!

We will be there from 3-8th!

It is HOT! But as long as you drink plenty of water, use sunscreen and take shade breaks its fine...:cool1:

Have fun!!!!!

You will still have a great time just drink plenty of water and take some breaks in the shade.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :) :dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo:

August? LOL. If your a fish you're going to love it between 2&4 every afternoon ;)
We've gone in August 3 times and will be going again in the future. The key is to take advantage of time, resources and what's made available to you.

Have no doubt, It will pour. Tip 1a: If you plan on being out in it, IMHO, Mickey ponchos are a great investment - they don't cling in the heat like the cheap toss-away versions, and if you ever have an issue with a snap they will replace it for you. Ours are going on 3 years old and still look new! Tip 1b: Pack extra socks or flip flops in your day bag - wet feet are more prone to blisters.

Tip 2: Drink every chance you can (No! Not the rain...) (I passed out in MK when I was 12 from dehydration - it was one of the hottest days April ever, but still not as hot as August.) "Ice Water" (in MK, Epcot & MGM) is free. "Water" (bottled) is not. If you don't mind drinking tap water, but only like the flavor of your home's H2O, bring crystal light or similar to add. I found Animal Kingdom (the hottest park due to the vegitation) is run differently and they do not like to give out cups of tap water, no clue why. Be prepared to refill a bottle from fountains there.

Tip 3: use EMH, hit the parks in the morning (cooler & less crowds), heading back to the hotel room by 11am for lunch & swimming and go back out in the evenings. It's really worth staying on site for this reason alone.

It is HOT and HUMID, but we don't care! That is when we go everytime! It usually pours almost ever day mid-afternoon. We were there in Aug. 2007 for 2 weeks and it only rained about four days, which is extremely unusual for that time of year.

Before we bought DVC, we always stay at POFQ. We love that place! Make sure you try the beignets! It is the only place you can get them! Yum!

Like everyone else has said, Drink lots of water! Don't forget the sunscreen and enjoy the pools!
