Ok, so I really want to get into the CVS Deal thread, but it's so intimidating. Any advise for a newbie? How do you strategized it to make sense for you?

Please do be intimidated! CVSing is really easy. It takes very little initial investment to really start saving lots of money! As an example I will post again what I plan on doing with my DH's newly acquired card. The CVS coupons are all printables (which I will post in another post after this one.) Your ECBs for items will printout on the end of your receipt. You just cut the off and use them on a future transaction. CVSing is really easy because you don't have to worry about rebate forms! The key is really to find those items that have good ECBs associated with them. I usually look for things that are free after ECBs or close to it. By being able to use CVS coupons and mfr coupons you can really save a TON on stuff. So here goes how I plan on starting DH's new card...

1st transaction

20 Soy Joy bars ($4 for 20 Free coupons off ebay) - $20
2 CVS toothbrushes - $2.99 each - $5.98
1 Bonus pack of CVS garbage bags - $4.99
1 package of CVS cookies - $.49

Total before coupons - $30.46

Coupons to use (I don't super stack):
$4 off $20
$2 off $10
$2 off $10 CVS brand purchase
$20 (Free SoyJoy)

Total OOP: $2.46 (plus tax & $4 for ebay coupons)

ECBs earned:
$20 - Soy Joy
$2 - CVS garbage bags
$5.98 - CVS toothbrushes
Total ECBs: $27.98

2nd transaction

3 - 12 packs Pepsi products - $10
3 - bags Lays/Doritos - $9
1 - 2ltr bottle Pepsi product - $1.25
5 - 24/7 Mennen deodorants - $3.99 each - $19.95
2 - Bonus packs CVS slider bags - $4.99 each $9.98
1 - pack CVS cookes - $.49

Total before coupons: $50.67

Coupons to use:
$10 off $50
$2 off $10 CVS brand purchase
$27.98 ECBs

Total OOP: $10.23 (plus tax)

ECBs earned:
$10 - Pepsi
$4 - CVS slider bags
$19.95 - Mennen deodorant
Total ECBs: $33.95

So for a total of $16.69 ($12.69 OOP at CVS and $4 for ebay q's), I will have all that stuff plus $33.95 in ECBs to keep rolling I will roll these into some M&M deals as well as some of the other monthly deals that we use (especially Cottonelle wipes for my kids.) I think this is a great start for that card!!!

I hope that is somewhat helpful :)

Oh my! This made me :lmao: ! I haven't read through it all and I'm so excited that you replied, but this made me laugh! I know what you meant!

So I don't have this:
20 Soy Joy bars ($4 for 20 Free coupons off ebay) - $20
What's that going to mean for me?
Oh, and I do have $3.50 in ECB already, from previous purchase.

Soy Joy bars are a January ECB deal. They are on sale for $1 each. You earn $4 in ECBs for every 4 you buy with a limit of 5 deals. So if you didn't have the free coupons, you could print out two - $1 coupons here

So you could do this

20 Soy Joy bars

Total: $20

Coupons to use:
$4 off $20 purchase
$2 off Soy Joy (2 - $1 q's)
$3.50 ECB's

Total OOP: $10.50 (plus tax if your state has tax on food)

Total ECB's earned: $20

Or you could do this

6 Bags of Valentine M&M's (BOGO @ $3.49)

Total: $10. 47

Coupons to use:
$2 off $10
$3.50 ECBs

Total: OOP $4.97
ECB's earned: $9

The key is to look for thisngs that are free or nearly free after coupons (CVS and mfr) and ECBs.

I hope this helping :)

Ok, So I also noticed that there are two 4 on $20 and three 5 on $30. They each have a different code, so will they work together?

It is up to your store if they will allow stacking with the $/$$ coupons. I normally do not stack as I figure I do well enough w/o stacking and irritating the clerks anymore than I do getting $100 worth of stuff for .01 :lmao: As long as the codes are different, in theory, it will work, it is just up to your store if the "allow" it.

And welcome to the "club" :flower3:

Well, this is a sticky subject. If your purchase is $30, then some stores will let you "super" stack and use both ($4 & $5 q's.). (Or 2 $4 q's on a $20 purchase, etc.) I personally don't super stack. For instance, some people may use both a $4 off $20 and a $5 off $30 purchase. I would only use both if my purchase were over $50 (but if it was then I would actually use a $10 off $50 instead.)

Well, I don't think I would try getting away with the latter, but maybe using two coupons for the same amount. Like the 2 $4 for 20's... Since they don't say you can't combine them. I'll try it anyway.
