This is just absurd to me! We currently have a 5 night stay at POP booked for Jan 27- Feb 1. We wanted to add (GIVE DISNEY MORE MONEY!), 2 more nights to the reservation. We were told by the CRO agent that there is no availability at POP from Jan 25-27...or any value for that matter. Fine, we will stay the 2 nights at a moderate.

WAIT!!! There is absolutly no availability at any moderate resort for Jan 25- 27, but there is availability at the Yacht club for $700 and change for 2 nights, LOL!!! :rotfl: Disney would like that wouldnt they! Your telling me that 8 resorts are 100% booked from Jan 25- 27??? I find that hard to believe.

I asked the CRO agent if I would be turned away by any of the so called "sold out" resorts if I showed up on the 25th at the checkin desk and requested a room at rack rate. Her response......."Well, we wouldnt be able to offer you Magical Express if you were to do that". :rotfl:

Has anyone had this problem before? For the past 5 years we have been going to Disney faithfully 2-3 times a year and have never had this issue before. If Disney is just going to block off rooms at value and moderates, just to sucker people into deluxes, I'm not going to bite. I need a room to sleep and thats it.

It wouldnt surprise me if they really were booked....Every time I call lately, the resort choices are few and far between and the 25th is only 11 days out.

I would suggest calling back daily to check for cancellations, or try adding on the extra days through one of the online sites. Travelocity is showing the Dolphin for $600.00 for those 2 nights.

Good for you. Don't be suckered in.

Something will eventually open up. Just keep calling.

Several years ago I saw a walk in family turned away from the WL. The guy was stunned. It was late January too, MLK week I think.

Since there's other threads with the same complaint, especially for the values, it would appear there's some validity to Disney's assertion. But you
could just show up and take your chances:dance3:

Well, I just called CRO back and got availability at CBR for the entire week at a AAA rate! That wasnt available earlier this afternoon!:confused3 Why do they insist on blocking out so many rooms?
So now, we will either split the stay between POP and CBR or just stay the full week at CBR.

If anyone else, is trying to get a room for this week, just keep calling back. Their are rooms available & hopefully Disney will open them up! Good Luck!:wizard:

Mardi Gras is that week ... I am telling you it is BOOKED.
You might get lucky but dont count on it. I know the GF has been booked at 100% for months now. I have tried several ways to get an extra room and had a TA working on it.... the cheer competitions are also coming in and they have a few conventions going on. I wish you luck!

I agree...Don't get suckered in.My advice to you is keep trying something will eventually open up.We went to WDW this past xmas (Dec.21-28) very busy time of the year...and at one point when searching for a room the online or with a CRO the only openings were $600-$700+++ rooms.Well I lucked out and got a ressie through a DVC member. Two weeks before the trip all of a sudden (especially after Disneys online system which was down all weekend because it needed to be upgraded) the system found all these opening for every class of resort. How did that happen......cancellations....maybe....but I know there aren't that many people like myself that will do a last minute vacation....ressie...airline..rental.....especially for xmas. That kind of trip is planned well in advance. So keep trying...Good Luck.....:woohoo:

Goofyz3girls, I think we will take the full week at CBR. Their main pool at Port Royale is closed for refurbishment, but thats not that big of a deal!
Finally, we can forget about the whole ressie thing and get excited about our trip again!!:bounce:

We booked our upcoming Land and Sea a full year in advance and were told that Port Orleans had only one room available (we needed 2 -for my friend and her DDs and myself and DD). We then booked CB. That seemed crazy to me! Even if they only allow a certain number of rooms for the cruise I can't imagine that they were all being booked that far in advance! :confused3

We are running into the same problem only with deluxe for the 9-11. Nothing we are just going to keep trying. Hopefully something will show up. Besides the Royal Suite at the AKL. :rotfl:

I just booked ASMu from Jan 23-25 but was not able to get the night of the 25th ( Friday night).I've had friends before who, once at the resort, were able to extend their stay. Not sure about arriving early. To the OP I'm glad you got CBR for the entire timeframe. I'm fortunate to live only about 40 minutes away so it's not really a problem to me to check out on Friday, but I'd have preferred to stay the extra day. I figure a group is probably checking in on Friday through the weekend so that's why that date is blocked. I can also imagine that not every resort room is ever filled due to staffing issues, cleaning issues, and guest issues such as those who wish to extend their stays. It IS hard to imagine every value and mod room totally booked for any time frame other than a holiday.---Kathy

boy looked at Disney website and expedia - only the YC, as you mentioned and FW cabins.

Doesn't everyone know that the economy is bad and people (except us of course) should not be traveling.

i am having the same problem finding any room for my 16 yo daughter and i feb4-9 or 2-7. any suggestions? how can i book some nights a t 1 hotel and some at another? the agent i got does not seem willing to do this. also, can you get the aaa discount directly from disney or do you have to got hru your local aaa office? my local lady was not very friendly.
i am also having trouble getting flights on southwest(the only air from new orleans to orlando). it was availablefor a day, but not now. i am so mad that i did not buy the tickets then! i am still hoping it opens up, checking a lot! we can get air for feb2-7, but then we miss the best mardi gras parades on sat and sun here, which upsets my dd. plus the only hotel available for the entire stay is saratoga springs and we would prefer to stay somewhere else for that cost, like akl or poly(never stayed in these). help!!!!!!!!!!!

I also had trouble finding availibility for feb 1-4....a kind CM told me that there are 6 different conventions going on in late Jan/ early Feb and that they have been booked for awhile. Also, I found out that the National Cheer and Dance competitions are going on that weekend...so it would make sense that all the moderates are booked with conventions, and the values with cheerleaders :cheer2: There is still some availibility at DVC's. As it gets closer to the dates, things may open up more...but I don't like to take chances. OP, glad you found something!

We are in the same boat. We reserved Caribbean Beach in November, but just two days ago found out that my oldest daughter can go with us. Instead of four people, we now have 5. It is impossible to change resorts that fit 5 people in the Feb 2 - Feb 9 timeframe. :(

Looks like we will need to stay off of the grounds.

I was having the same problem. I ended up booking a stay from 2/6-2/9 at the YC. And then 2/9-2/11 at the WL. Then I just kept looking. Today the CR opened up which is what we wanted. It still isn't available one day of our stay but at least we got it for the 9th -11th.

You can do the discount through disney. My local lady wasn't into booking a split stay either so I just did it myself. This way too you can monitor the site and see if something that fits you better opens up and you can change yourselft without worring about if the AAA office will be open to chang eit for you. I know last night WLV had openings. Good luck.

Congrat OP hope your trip is wonderful.
