Resort Smells, The Nose Knows

I have two DD’s and everywhere we go I try teach them to use there since of smell. Back in 2002 we started staying at the Poly. The Poly has a distinct smell, which is one of my favorites. You might think I am Crazy, a lot of people would agree with you. Correct me if I am wrong but when you walk under the Monorail platform and next to the water features you start picking it up. Once the doors open to the Great Ceremonial House you are overtaken with that unmistakable sent. When entering the GCH I say to my girls, Smell that? Now that’s the Smell of the Poly.

The Lobby of the BoardWalk is another Disney Resort with a distinct and unmistakable smell. I can’t tell you what it is but it ranks No.2 on my Favorite Walt Disney Smell List.

So the next time you visit the GCH at the Poly or the Lobby in the BoardWalk Take a really big sniff and say to the person your with, smell that now that the smell that Cyril Proudbottom was talking about.

Our nose is an amazing thing...there are several smells like that at Disney that are unmistakeable. Florida in general has a unique smell - one that in Ohio I smell once or twice a year when the temp and the humidity and the breeze is just right - and I long for Florida again.

AKL has a very distinctable and welcoming scent as well.

We also love the smell of the Poly!

It's great how the sense of smell is very closely linked to our emotions. A few months ago, DH, DKs and I were taking a walk around our neighborhood, and we passed a small underground stream at a spot where it peaks out into the air, and we could clearly smell the Poly. We all stopped and sniffed for a while, and it brought tears to our eyes. How we long to be at the Poly!

You are so right! The water gets me everytime. I then walk into the GCH stop, take a deep long breathe and smile.

I love Disney Resort smells! They always make me feel so at home! If I'm at home and I smell anything close to those scents, I always think immediatly about WDW! It's amazing that your nose can bring back such awesome memories of WDW!

since we have stayed at OKW so many times it does have some sort of a palmtree/flower scent but next time i go to those places i will stop and smell the "resort"

Ha, I thought that me and my DBF were the only ones! Every trip we HAVE to walk into the GF just for the smell. We can't figure out what the smell is, and believe me we have tried, but we just love it!! It's good to know we are in good company.
