We are planning a Disney World vacation in late November. This will be our first family vacation and we are really excited, but there is so much information. We are trying to decide if we should stay on/off site. We are looking at possibly staying at Windsor Hills in a three bedroom condo and have had lots of responses. Just wondering what peoples experiences have been. We are a family of six. Also, does anyone know if you have to stay on site to attend Dining with Cinderella?

Thank you.

Hi and just let me say :welcome: to the disboards. We have stayed off property every year, mainly because we have a pet that we just can't stand to leave behind. Villa's are really nice. I have never stayed in Windsor Hills but have read so many great things here on the dis about it. I have stayed in Windsor Palms, Emerald Island and High Grove. All wonderful:)

Yes you can dine with Cinderella and tons of other disney characters. There are lots of restuarants to choose from. Just call 407-WDISNEY to make dining reservations. I think there is another number but I don't know it sorry:confused3

You can make reservations 180 days out I believe, hopefully someone with more dining experience can help you out or maybe try the dining boards they are very helpful.:thumbsup2

We love staying in condos rather than cramped in one or two room hotels. You have your own room, kitchen, washer/dryer, you can stay up if you choose to while the kids are in bed, ect.
We will be going to WH in Feb. for the first time. We booked a 3 bedroom condo through floridasunshine.com we went through them before at another location and had no problems. I will post my review when I get back. I suggest booking soon. Things fill up fast, no matter who you go threw and where. :)

All the info you'll ever want (and then some) is on here. And, as is typical with the internet, you'll find strong opinions on each side of every debate. The "on-site" versus "off-site" debate is always a good one. For my money, you can't beat the space and comfort of 'home' you'll get in an off-site condo. That's easy for me to say, though, because we've never stayed on-site.

If you DO decide to go with the off-site option, Windsor Hills is PERFECT. We're going back for our THIRD trip there in just 17 days!!!! I can give you the listing of the condo we stayed at the last two times. That owner was GREAT, and gave us a GREAT rate. The only reason I'm not going with him again on this trip is 'cause he was booked on the dates I want to go. Even if you don't want his info, there are TONS of sites from which you can select a WH condo. I happened to use VRBO.com.

The toll-free number for Disney reservations is 1-877-939-3732. This is a 'general reservations' line which you can use for rooms, excursions, or dining ressies. It takes a couple extra 'clicks' to get to the dining site, but it's toll free, so worth it. As PP said, if you want to go to Cindy's B-Fast, you MUST book your ressies EXACTLY 180 days from your expected date of dining. That doesn't mean 179 days, it means 180 days. Those ressies fill up fast. The phones open at 7 a.m. EST.

Keep posting questions. Folks on here are happy to answer them. I don't know what I woulda' done without these boards - especially during my early trips! Feel free to PM me if you want my condo guy's contact info, or have any more detailed questions!

The on versus off site debate is always a good one. We had always stayed on site before our son was born, but last year we split it (1/2 on and 1/2 off) and with the benefits (i.e. more space to move around) and cost savings of staying off I don't think we will stay on site again. We are staying at WH for the first time on our upcoming trip and it seems like a really great place! With a family of your size it certainly seems logical to stay off site. However, it depends on what is most important to you in a vacation, ages of your family members, and what your budget is. Since this is your first trip, and if it will be your only trip to Disney for a long time you may want to stay on site because there is a certain magic to it. I would make a list of the top priorities in lodging and decide from there. Beware, I have almost researched myself to death trying to decide on the "perfect" place to stay several times. :surfweb: Happy Planning!
