I am looking for the thread I thought I saw it on here where someone made a mickey mouse head fan for their wedding. What did they use for the stick? I assume cardstock for the mickey head and glue it onto ??

Happy Almost New Year!

Thanks I want to add them to the guest welcome/gift bags:lmao: (whatever I am doing with that), but at least that is a start.

we just used paint sticks. they would be great for welcome bags. we had ours out during the ceremony and people loved them. if you need any help just pm me and i will try.

Thanks princessdisneybelle I saw them on your thread at some point and thought everything you did was so very creative. Hopefully, I can come up with some nice things. I PMd you my questions.

We are planning on using a Mickey mouse head fan as a program at our wedding since it is outside in June. I'm using 10" paint stirrers from www.jamestowndistributors.com , I think they are about 10 cents each.

Here is what I've come up with so far:

Hope this helps-

It sounds like paint stirrers are the way to go but I did see "craft sticks" at Michaels. Don't remember the price and how it compairs to the paint stirrers but I don't think they were too expensive.

What is everyone using for the actual fan? I believe the size of the Mickey fan is bigger then a regular 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. I have to see what size paper my printer takes. To princessdisneybelle - seeing your Mickey fans many months ago on these boards made me want to make my own - along with the high price of having them custom made. Our wedding is next November so I have alot of time to start some do-your-own projects.

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks I never thought about using it as a program I think I want it with our names and wedding date.

I will have to figure out a program format.

I could not find big enough sticks at Michaels. I did use 8 1/2 x 11 white cardstock and played with the format of the wording in a regular word document- it took a little playing with but I managed to get everything I wanted on it to fit.
:goodvibes

Sorry but another question. I would imagine you put the paper through first and then cut out the Mickey head? How did you cut out the head? From the one in your photo it looks really exact. i guess it is also two different pieces of paper that you then glued together - with the stick on the bottom. Your photo looks great.

I did put the paper through first and printed the wording on it.

I used one paper for each side and I have a circle cutter-mine is creative memories- but i'm sure any will work. I layed it out on plain paper first to get a sort of template to use when I cut the printed one. Just don't cut the circle all the way, leave room to cut the smaller (ear) circles. I put the stick in between the 2 papers.

If you are visual I can post a picture of the "template" I use when I line up the worded paper.(I am definately a visual person):)

Thanks for the info. I am definately visual so if you get a chance to post pictures I would really appreciate it. I just realized that you had your ceremony in Italy. This is also where we are having our - it looks like yours was in the back - we are planning on the front - overlooking the water. When we were at our planning session last month - Heidi thought we wanted the back - and looking at it again later that day - I am now undecided.

We are having our reception at ADH and our IllumiNations desert party in UK Lower.

I will take a couple of pictures to post.

We had Heidi too- we went on our site visit sure we were going to have the ceremony at Isola! She persuaded us the courtyard was better- now i'm not even sure how!!:rotfl:

Thanks, whenever you get a minute.

I am really not sure about what section of Italy for the ceremony - We are hoping to go down in June or July for a Planning Session (can't wait to taste the food and cake). We will really have to take a look then and decide.

Hope you have a Happy New Year.

Here is what I used-

The cutter- big for the head small for ears
circlecutter.jpg

then I printed it off the computer
fannotcut.jpg

template-so I could use it to line up and get the spacing right
fantemplate.jpg

place template on top(I put small pencil marks where ears start so I knew when to stop cutting
templatonpaper.jpg

Cut/paste and ribbon!!

Our planning session is next month! Can't wait-just not so sure I'm prepared!

Happy New Year to you as well :)

Very cool - I never would have thought of that. Now this is something else I will have to work on. Oh well, we have 11 months - I'm sure the time will go fast.:rotfl2:

I have a mickey head template in Word if anyone would like me to email it to you. You just type in your info, print and cut out. They really are alot of fun to make and are a huge hit.
