I'm BAACK!! Moms dream vacation a success! Trippie is COMPLETE tons of pics... 1/21

I loved that you guys went over to the Unfinished Pop! I'm with you though I would off been scared, specially if I had 4 days left and they caught me.

Glad you liked Chefs though. I went in July and thought it was fantastic. From the reviews I read on here it seems to be a hit or miss thing. Ohhh and I also had a wicked cute waiter too!

I love all your Christmas shots. Now I'm really trying for a mid Nov trip for next year to catch the decorations and MVMCP.

Can't wait to see if you wake up early enough to go exploring again!

You rebel girl you, sneaking around in the dark. I love the pics of the unfinished buildings & the submarine, how cool is that? It does seem eerie though, wish I could have been there!

omg loving ur trip report! i wonder why they don't just finish building the legandry (sp) years, i looks like they were quite a long way into it??

Disneygirlinnj - Loving your trip report. You take great pictures. We were there Nov.24-30; seeing your pix helps me relive the magic all over again!:santa: I love how you took your mother. I'm divorced and my 11yr.old and I are VERY close. I'm surprising her with a quick trip in June when school gets out. Hope someday, she'll return the favor and surprise me!

You mention you're a Bergen County girl; I grew up in Hudson County. My ex grew up in Bergen- Cliffside Park. We moved to Mass. 15yrs.ago for his job and now we're divorced and I'm stuck here! I miss Jersey soooo much - the pizza, the bagels, the MALLS! Sigh!:sad1:

I LOVE your TR! I'm leaving this Wednesday for a trip with my Mom (we're staying at Pop, as well) and this has me so excited about spending time just with Mom and also for holidays in Disney!

I can't wait!

You take fantastic pictures, by the way. How sneaky to go over to the new section of Pop. I'd tinkle in my pants from bein scared if I had to do that!

I have to laugh at some of the stuff you do. Its so much like my family. We've been going to Disney forever too and you plan EXACTLY the same way I do so reading your posts makes me feel like I'm there. HOWEVER Im so jelous you had Sebastian at Chefs. HE IS OH SO YUMMY and so nice too! I can't wait for your next post!!!:goodvibes

Ohhh....so is there a list of hot Chefs de France waiters? Because seriously? They were ALL over that place! :) Definitely made the meal more enjoyable.. :rotfl: Glad you're enjoying the trippie! :thumbsup2

I just found your trip report and LOVE it!!! I'm a little confused...what are those pictures of above?...a new hotel construction?! Cool! I also LOVE the very first WDW photo...it looks like we were about the same age when we had our first trip to disney in 83...3?! This report makes me want to do a Christmas trip!

Yup! The pics above are from unfinished Pop Century construction. They built the Classic years (1950-1990) and had started on the Legendary Years (1900 - 1940) but never finished! And I was born in 1980 so it sounds like we're the same age! You should DEFINITELY do a Christmas trip! It's amazing! I've told everyone already that I'm only going during Christmas from now on, and in the beginning of December when the parks are EMPTY!

I think more and more people are starting to enjoy Chefs, which is a good thing! :) And weren't most of the waiters just rediculously cute too? ;) ;) Great eye candy! haha! Ohh and you HAVE to one day get to disney for Christmastime! I'll cross my gingers for you!

Those are creepy pictures!

I know! It was crazy!

You rebel girl you, sneaking around in the dark. I love the pics of the unfinished buildings & the submarine, how cool is that? It does seem eerie though, wish I could have been there!

I seriously want someone to tell me what the submarine was there for!!! or if it's even a submarine! lol

omg loving ur trip report! i wonder why they don't just finish building the legandry (sp) years, i looks like they were quite a long way into it??

They were somewat far along... there was only two hotel room buildings though and the foundation for another so they had a lot more rooms to build! I heard they were going to start building again but turn them into family suites...which would make the rooms they already built useless and they have to tear them down I think!

Awww... I would have LOVED a surprise trip to Disney when I was a kid! That's awesome! :thumbsup2 And hopefully you'll get a trip down the road too! :)

Yup! Born and raised in Bergen County.. I'm in Hackensack right now but only grew up down the street from there. My fathers family is from the same area as your ex...Palisades Park but when they were younger, most of them went to Cliffside Park High. small world! Ohhh...don't miss the malls right now! I HATE them during the holidays! And living by all of them is a mess trying to get anywhere! :scared1: But I totally agree on the pizza and bagels... I lived up in CT for college and they're HORRIBLE!

Have an amazing time! and enjoy the trip with mom!!!!! :) It's much less scary if you go to the construction during the day I think...haha!

Thanks! I have a free flight coming my way from Soutwest so I can't let that go to waste. So hopefully I can make it down there next Nov!

Hahaha I know the eye candy is great there! Those French boys are so cute! ;)

Your pictures in your 3rd update in the World Showcase are gorgeous!!!!

You and Evan sure are brave. Maybe submarines were going to be for the year 1940, for the war year?:confused3 Not sure...But they were creepy looking.

Can't wait to see if you can get back over there to see more....

Great update:thumbsup2

Hey Disneygirl, that was some update! Wow you are brave to go heading over to that abandoned construction site! I'd have been scared of being caught & getting thrown out! LOL but then I'm a scaredy cat, hahaha!!! Is that a resort they were building and stopped building it after 9-1-1? Was it because they didn't feel it was right under the circumstances?

Thanks :) Yeah...the submarine was just WEIRD!!! But it was just sitting there out in the open and definitely not as BIG as all the other things in Classic Years. So I dunnnoooo!

Luckily our walk on the wildside was pretty tame! :) Yeah...it was supposed to be second section of Pop Century that they stopped constructing. I'm not really sure WHY they stopped? Maybe due to the decreased number of tourists traveling? I remember hearing Disney and Orlando in general got hit hard with the decline in tourists!

Time to start on day 4!

Evan and I had made a small promise to try getting up early and heading back to the construction site of Legendary Years. Yeah.. well... apparently we were both exhausted because I didn't wake up until 7 or 7:30 and I didn't hear from Evan until an hour or so after! So...so much for going back and exploring some more. Boooooo! Guess we'll just have to go back again and if they didn't start up construction yet, we'll explore!

Mom and I got ready and headed to the caf for some food. I don't have any pics which means that we ate the same thing we ate before... I'm know mom had waffles again and actually...I think I had waffles too but instead of with strawberry topping I had bacon and sausage.. yummy! Still crappy coffee or this might have been the day I realized that the cappuccino is good? ha!

We jumped on the bus heading to MGM and were off! Walked to the entrance and of course admired the Christmas decorations..

I wanted to go get fastpasses for one of the thrill rides so we turned down that way and headed towards Tower of Terror. Since my mom wasn't going to ride either, I used my pass to get Tower of Terror and her pass to get one for Rock n Roller Coaster.

2107968046_736ed3fc3a.jpg

After getting fast passes we headed back up Sunset Boulevard to the Great Movie Ride. On the way though we saw DROVES of characters just milling around the Sorcers Hat. The first ones we saw were Chip and Dale but their line was a little long so we jumped in line for Stitch. While online, we looked around and there were at least 10 other characters hanging out for pics and autographs...score! hahaha!

2107969390_6e506c09f1.jpg

We tried getting online for Mickey and Pluto but the line was already closed and they said to come back at 11am. Instead we just went from character to character taking pics.. hehehehe

with Foulfellow.. (i think?)

After our picture fest was over we headed into the Great Movie Ride. When I was younger my friends and I were HUGE Mickey Mouse Club fans and used to travel with each others families a few times a year (I would go with my friend Lisa and her fam, and vice versa) and we'd go to tapings of the shows every day when we were down there. In between tapings we used to go on this ride (and backlot tour) all the time trying to pass time away so I have so many memories on this ride (well of MGM in general!). It definitely needs a little updating but it's still nice and relaxing.

2107999644_f0fd25ed9a.jpg

We had slight technical difficulties on the ride though and in the Wizard of Oz as well as in Indiana Jones our little tram just didn't want to move. We were only stuck for a few mins and our guide kept making jokes. It was cute.

2107245389_33f1d804ca.jpg

When we got out of the movie ride we realized it was 11am already or close to it and there were people already waiting online for Mickey and Pluto. So we got online and then they came out!

2108024852_f82746193f.jpg

It was soooooo cute and fun with them! The photopass photographer took a pic with the 4 of us (me, mom, Mickey, pluto) and then he told both of the ladies to get on either side of Mickey and kiss him on each cheek. So we did and all of a sudden Pluto starts waving his hands and stomping his feet and making a fuss that we weren't kissing him and ran away and hid in the bushes. hahahaha! So Mickey went over to Pluto and dragged him out by his tail and then the photopass photographer took a pic of me and my mom kissing Pluto. Those are all on photopass though so I'll post them later (I just ordered the CD today!)

Here's the blurry pic the photopass guy took with my camera..ugh!

We went over to Voyage of the Little Mermaid but the next show wasn't for awhile so we headed down towards One Mans Dream instead. I had heard that if you ask the cast member at the entrance for a quiz, they'll give you a quiz to take throughout the exhibit and then you can get a certificate at the end. Well of course I forgot immediately when we got there and instead just headed in and started looking around...

my favorite pic of all time of Walt and Mickey...

Finally towards the end we found a castmember and asked them about the quiz. She told us to go back to the entrance and they had them there. Of course we went over and? the guy had NO idea what we were talking about! :( So we walked back to the end to watch the movie. Sue, the castmember saw us without the quiz and asked what happened. She then ran off on her own and grabbed us a quiz and clipboard and told us to watch the movie and then come back in and take the quiz. She was great!

2108092460_4473c2705a.jpg

We handed Sue the quiz and she went into the cast member entrance and came back a minute later with an awesome certificate saying we were Honorary Disney Historians. It was awesome!

After One Mans Dream it was time for Little Mermaid so we jumped in there and saw a great show. I love how it rains in the theatre!

2107334437_7d9717b777.jpg

Next up was Star Tours for me so I parked mom on a bench with an ice cream (hahaha she was a little addicted to the Mickey bars!) and I headed into Start Tours with only a 10 minute wait! Afterwards I needed a pic with my speeder bike..

2107355109_04c9c5fc91.jpg

Since this morning I had been texting my friend Sarah who lives in FL and she was driving up to meet us for a few days. She was almost at MGM but we still had a little more time to wander on our own. Mom fell in love with the San Fransisco sky line for some reason..lol...

2108134870_07f5c18796.jpg

We headed over to Mama Melrose (where we were having a late lunch at 2:30) to see if we can add Sarah to the reservation. I had tried calling Disney dining and the guy told us no! But when we went to the front desk there wasn't a problem with it at all..yayyy!

There was a Santa sighting as we wandered the back streets of MGM...lol
2107396739_8c8325fd83.jpg

I'm pretty sure here is where we went and saw Muppet Vision 3-D which is always fun. Afterwards we started wandering a little just waiting for Sarah and saw that a Jedi Training had just started so we went over there to watch for a little bit. These kids were SO ADORABLE! Some of them got soooo freaked out when Darth Vader walked out on stage and they had to fight him. Adorable! lol...

As we were watching, Sarah called to tell us she was just going through the front gate so we agreed to meet at Mama Melrose and get some grub!

I also think I ran out of room for pics so I'll continue in a bit (i hope!)

Great update Disneygirl and lots of great pics. I loved the story about Mickey and Pluto, that is cute. That was great that you were able to add your friend Sarah to the ressie and she was able to eat with you at Mama Melrose!!! I hope she gets to spend a few days with you!!!! Did she stay in your room? Can't wait to find out!

Yeah, another update, you are moving right along:cool1: :cool1:

MGM is my favorite park...I love the Great Movie Ride, too:love:

You got a lot of great Character pics. That is a shame the photopass person messed up your photo with Pluto and Mickey....They must do that on person, to make sure you buy their photopass pic instead:rotfl: Can't wait to see them:cool1:

I love how some of the characters are wearing Christmas attire:goodvibes

Cute pic of you riding on speeder bike:thumbsup2

That is great you were able to add your friend to your ressie. I have never eaten at Mama Melrose and always hear mix reviews. I can;t wait to hear your review:thumbsup2

disneygirlinnj - another great report and fabulous pix!:thumbsup2 Keep them coming and thanks for sharing!

BTW- I know the coffee is AWFUL! We always stay at the BW, so there's coffee makers in every room. I now pack 1pd.bags of Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks coffee to bring and make myself when I get up in the a.m. Don't know if Pop has coffee makers in room, but something to keep in mind for next time! (I've even read about people on these boards buying cheap little coffeemakers from Walmart and shipping them down to have in their room!)

Hi! I've been reading your TR this morning - lovin' your great mother-daughter time! You had great timing - no lines! We tried Chefs on a whim last June as we were at Epcot with no ADRs :scared1: - loved it! I will definitely repeat that one! Looking forward to your next update!

HI CAMMIE! :wave2:

I seriously want someone to tell me what the submarine was there for!!! or if it's even a submarine! lol

Now I know this is a long shot, but you did say it was supposed to be from the "legendary years"? Could it possibly have something to do with the Beatles Yellow Submarine? Like I said, it's a long shot but that song was very popular not to mention the group is "legendary".:confused3

maybe the subs are just being stored there from the old 20,000 leagues under the sea ride since the area is not being worked on at the time. Just a thought.

Subs were used in WWII - so it could be for the 1940s section.

Great TR by the way. WDW is something my mom and I do together also - she is always who I go down there with. So its cool to ready about another mother daughter trip! :thumbsup2
