Hicks on Holiday 2 - Done Brung the Kin Folk-Sept. 07 w/pics UPDATE 12/10/08 pg 41

Got behind for a week or so, but I'm all caught up now! Funny, I was sitting here eating pumpkin pie ice cream (mmmmm) while reading the chat about pumpkins and squash! I love your picture of the gang at Epcot, you guys are such a great family. I'm jealous you found a photopass photog there at night--every night we went past, there was no one there. One night we handed DD6 the camera (after wrapping the strap around her body so she wouldn't drop it) to take our picture, and some college boys took pity on us and took our picture!:rotfl: Came out pretty good, too!

Oh, and I have your Eeyore shirt, too!

DM5, one would think that you would have fireworks most everyday around your hectic household. Just wait until you get all that new carpet in and those kids find out that they can cause sparks to fly while dragging their tennis shoes. You will have fireworks then and with sound effects (you)! :lmao:

whogirl'smom, if you are a bit patient you will almost always find someone to take a picture for you. Just make sure to pick someone old and slow so that they cannot run with your camera. Hmmmm, just figured out that is why so many folks ask me to take their pictures. :rolleyes1

MS_mom_1965, you can take the win on the truck but in my defense I must say that we bought the truck back when dh was employed. When the truck dies we will be down to one vehicle. Our yard is far too small to put anything up on cinder blocks. :rotfl2: Us Hicks are like the cockroaches, we will be around long after the most sophisticated among us have wilted under the pressure. We thrive on hard times and they sure are a comin'!

SG (who is going out to dig a mess of greens)

Just had to chime in here. Am loving your tr. Very enjoyable.

Can't say I am a hick, but I have traveled to many hick places. And yes, I have been to Dollywood. We had the pleasure of "living" in Marietta, GA for 5 months and visited 8 states while we were there. Even hit DW twice.

Not sure which makes me more of a hick, the fact that we have actually STOPPED at South of the Border to see Pedro or the time we went to Chicago and pulled off the interstate to see what the heck a McD's was doing in the middle of an overpass? :confused3

Name the tacky attraction and I have a canceled admission ticket somewhere. I am thinking that the epitome of class for a Hick is going to DW!! :thumbsup2

Slightly Goofy

Ever notice how sitting in a different location or riding something after dark gives you a whole new perspective on even the most ridden attraction?? I love checking out the details, like is the car going to go off the rails and why not?:confused3

Some of my favorite moments at DW were in line waiting for the Friendship boats. I have met the most amazing folks in line. I still remember the family from Raleigh who invited to come and stay with them. IN their house. I remember the details and may one day take them up on it even though I told them that inviting strangers into their home was not the best idea in the world.
What I love about Test Track is that it is slower than we drive on the highway, but it feels really fast.

We never have ridden the ships at Epcot. Like I said, bad memories.

Well done, fab installment...

just one little biddy question...

Wheres the next installment:rotfl2:

Cruel, that's what you are. Horribly cruel.
But for some reason, like most movie villians, your British accent makes everything sound so adorable. LOL

Us too, we always have to do Figment just to keep me happy :rotfl2:

Tell her great photos :thumbsup2

What a beautiful photo, the colour of the ball is gorgeous :goodvibes

DD says thanks. She really loves photography and is learning as she goes.

We really liked the Spaceship Earth colors at night also.

WHHHHHHEEEEEWWWWW!!! I am all caught up!!! Now heading over to the food porn!!!But before that I must switch over the laundry since it has been done now for hhhmmm about three hours... I hate doing laundry:laundy: god bless you for doing laundry:laundy: for 9! there are only five here in this house and I HATE HATE doing laundry! Did I mention I HATE DOING LAUNDRY

Don't worry about keeping up. At this rate, no one will get behind!

Okay, so I DO wear shoes most of the times. We have horses, dogs and cats, and it's just too gross to go out barefooted in our yard.

By the way, our "dump" truck is a 1984 Chevrolet.

I am impressed you folks are trying to "out-hick" me. Normally when people find out I'm from Mississippi, I end up trying to convince them that we have indoor plumbing and electricity now. Hey - even computers!

LOL. We are Hicks on our own levels, no?

Agreed! :thumbsup2

This woman, almost mmm-mmm years old, was keeping up with us just fine.
Better than me, actually.
And without complaining.[/QUOTE]
She's got me beat there! :rotfl:

::yes:: My favorite time of day in the summer months!

I REALLY preferred February, but like I say, free dining has been hard to beat!

Love the update Sarah! The photopass pic is great! With that many people in 1 photo someone was bound to blink - too bad it was you! :rotfl:

Thanks for the hidden mickey hint in the test track photo - I have never noticed! Now I have to go back and look at mine!

Glad you enjoyed dinner in 'my' Canada! :thumbsup2

If all the food in "your" Canada, I would be huge living there. Of course, if all the food in "your" Canada is that expensive, we'd probably starve! LOL
Le Cellier will probably always be a must do, if we have the DDP.

It was hard to get so many people in the pic, but they did turn out pretty well.

Oh, and I have your Eeyore shirt, too!

I love that Eeyore shirt. It was really cheap too, which is even better.
Not sure about Pumpkin Pie ice cream -- I think I prefer the actual pie. Need to cook up my squash and make a pie, before they go bad.

Had a fatality in the painted pumpkins today...Mike Wazowski was getting moldy, so he had to go. Sniff.

Don't give them any ideas!!!!

No clue.

But always interesting conversation when you are around! :thumbsup2

No update today, but I am going to post some Halloween pics in the next post!

Halloween Pics, 2007

An Old-fashioned Nurse, A Mad Scientist, Goofy, Donald Duck, Aurora and Cinderella go begging for candy:

A better look at the Mad Scientist (with dh dressed as a very handsome man in the background!)

Better look at Donald:

Winnie the Pooh, eating candy, as it was the only thing that kept her occupied long enough for me to hand out candy. "Mo kuk-kuk???"

IMG_0627.jpg

They had a good time, and brought home WAAAAAY more candy than a child should have.

Will probably update my Food Report in the next couple days, and then come back here and update again. Thanks! :flower3:

Hmm...Disneygirl likes photography, my nephew, Corey, likes photography. They are close in age, they're both smart, sweet, good looking, funny, live in the same town....just sayin'...

My mom can out-run me, too. She's 64 and was raised on a farm. It must be that farm girl livin'! She never ceases to amaze me at how well she can keep up with the kids and such. Plus, she'll ride scarier rides than I will. She's always proud that she's the oldest one in line at Rock 'N Roller Coaster and such.

I also like the Figment ride. The last time we went, there was absolutely no one else on the ride with us- just me, mom, and Tessa. I do wish they wouldn't have changed it as the old ride was more nastalgic for me.

I have never spent much time in the countries, but we plan on doing that when we go in May.

I forgot to mention how adorable your kids look in their costumes!! I love the mad scientist- so funny and fitting for him! :lmao:

I must share a picture of my little Mickey Mouse and the Winter Fairy:

DisneyMom5, I love all the costumes, including the good looking man in the background, but I have to admit that the Mad Scientist is my favorite. Please tell me he thought that one up himself and if so, that is the kid I want to hang around with at DW. I love offbeat and different thinking. :rotfl: Has he ever seen "Young Frankenstein"? That is my 10 year old grandson's favorite movie. He is far too young for Blazing Saddles. :rotfl2:

I find myself interesting as well cause I just never know what I am going to think of next. My whole life is one big stream of consciousness. :lmao:

I am off for the day. (no remarks folks, it is far too easy of a joke for you to lower yourselves too and besides I thought of it first!) :cool1:

John and I and Princess K. I made this one brighter and left off the border so you could play:
Find the Hidden Mickeys!

The nice lady in the rainbow shirt introduced herself to me when she saw the lime green tag on my bag.
She is a Disser too! LabDogs something something.

That's ME! Labdogs42 -- good memory! I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I wanted to stop by and say I'm SO honored to have my picture in your trippie! :cool1: It was so cool meeting you -- my first official DIS-er sighting in the parks!! And even cooler that we got our picture taken together! Thanks!

Hey, welcome! I'm honored you stopped by! My only regret with Dis meetings is I never get to talk to people long enough! I guess that's what the boards are for, right? LOL
:wizard:

DisneyMom5 and Labdog, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I have so many regrets about not getting to really talk to some folks I met along the way.

Getting to meet someone you already sort of know on the Boards is the best though and Meets are the best of all cause you meet many at one time. It is the keeping them all straight in my head that is the problem.

I love the picture of you guys together.

SG/Linda

Welcome Labdogs42! It felt like I'd just won a "Where's Waldo?" marathon when I came across your picture on another thread and recognized you! Of course, as far as I know, there are no Where's Waldo marathons, or any winners for that matter. :scratchin

The only Diser I've ever met at the parks was a bit of a snot. We were waiting for a bus at Pop and I saw that she has a shirt on from the Disign boards. I asked her if she was a Diser. She gave me a blank stare, so I asked if she got the design for the shirt off of the Disboards. She said "Yes" and then seemed too "important" to talk to me anymore. Maybe I scared her! :confused3

I spotted a family with bright green, custom made shirts at MK. I finally worked up the nerve to approach them.
I asked one woman if they were from the Disboards. She looked at me very blankly.
I smiled and said, pointing to the shirt, "The internet, do you go on the disboards on the internet?"
She smiled and in a very thick Spanish accent said "This we makes in Mexico. For family." Smile.
Well don't I feel silly. I was so speechless that my three years of college Spanish just flew out of my head, and all I could say, in English, was "I like them." Blink, blink. Smile and wave. Walk away.

:sad2: Sheesh.

So, although they were very nice and very gracious, I took pause before asking anyone else. Everyone else, including Labdogs42 approached me.

HeatherSue, maybe the person you saw with a DIS shirt was wearing it for a REAL DISer. I often have my hubby wear his shirt when mine is dirty but he knows to steer any questions to me. Maybe she was in the midst of something and did not recognize you as a kinyard spirit. Maybe she was a jerk and should be immediately drummed out of the DIS Corps???? One never knows what lurks in the minds of men or women. I am sorry and I am sure that the next one you meet will not react that way at all. It is not in our natures.

BTW, I think I was Waldo in September. Strange people kept coming up to me and not only calling me by my screen name but also my real name. I thought I was just getting senile at first but after a few interactions one kind person explained that while I was wandering DW there was a thread on her about me and people were reporting spottings. It tickled and perplexed me. I loved meeting the folks though and next time I might start a thread of my own just for the fun of meeting all those special folks.

I might not remember everyone's names but I remember their stories and I hear a lot of stories. :rotfl:

Great update,i love the picture in front of the ball.:thumbsup2

Cute Halloween pics too.:goodvibes

What cute halloween costumes and so sorry Mike went moldy :rotfl2:

Thanks all! We had fun putting the costumes together. My rule is, you can be anything you want for Halloween (though nothing bloody) as long as I don't have to spend any money. So all of the costumes, with the exception of the cute masks I found discounted on Disneyshopping, are scrounged.

Alas, poor moldy Mike, we knew him well. LOL
They all actually have to be thrown out, but I hate to do it.
Put too much work into it.

Hmm...Disneygirl likes photography, my nephew, Corey, likes photography. They are close in age, they're both smart, sweet, good looking, funny, live in the same town....just sayin'...

Unless Teresajoy has some goats to trade, I'm not making any arrangements at this time. :rolleyes1

Definately NO roller coasters for my mom. Quite a trooper though!

I don't remember the original from our honeymoon. I know we rode it though.

You have to do the countries slowly and look around, enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Skip it on a rainy day, not as fun.

I forgot to mention how adorable your kids look in their costumes!! I love the mad scientist- so funny and fitting for him! :lmao:

I must share a picture of my little Mickey Mouse and the Winter Fairy:

Did you make T's costume? Very pretty!
Yeah, Mad Scientist Chef is pleased that everyone liked his costume.

He did come up with it himself. He is quite proud of it too.
Oh you definately would like him. He's a great kid, and it sounds like you speak boy. ;)
If you know anything at all about Legos or Bionicles, OR would be willing to sit for a half hour while being lectured on them, well, you'd have a friend forever. :thumbsup2

I find myself interesting as well cause I just never know what I am going to think of next. My whole life is one big stream of consciousness. :lmao:

I am off for the day. (no remarks folks, it is far too easy of a joke for you to lower yourselves too and besides I thought of it first!) :cool1:

I tend to be a bit S O C myself. Not really in touch with the whole "logic" thing. LOL
I tell my dh that I drive by the "force."
Though, actually, I am VERY good at following directions. It's just that I usually sense we're going the wrong way before the signs confirm it.

I'm off everyday. LOL

DisneyMom5 and Labdog, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I have so many regrets about not getting to really talk to some folks I met along the way.

I love the picture of you guys together.

Isn't it funny we just happened to get in the same car that night?
I wish I would have talked to more people at the Pop meet, but I was a bit intimidated. :sad2:

Have a great weekend everyone!

DisneyMom5, I am so pleased that you were not intimidated by me. As I said, I am not so good at remembering names, probably because I cannot hear them often, but YOU made a definite impression. You are overwhelmingly nice and seeing your children shows me what a special mother you are as well. I do so hope that we will be at DW again some day and if you cannot persuade your mom to come with I will gladly fill in holding parade seats and such. I am slow so that is what I am really good at. I pick good ones too, as you know. :rotfl:

When I get my new camera I am taking some pics so you can see how well I speak 'boy'. I warn you that yours will want to visit me though. I have so many Lego's that it is going to be a major part of my estate when I die. I have all my sons and he is in his mid 30's now. I know the layout of the Disney Lego Store by heart and Lego.com has its own shortcut on my desktop.

Hey! I finally got a chance to get over here and catch up on your trip report.

It's great so far!! Sounds like you guys had a good time! Can't wait to read the rest of the trip! :goodvibes
