I read somewhere on this board, of course I can't find it now, about buying a case of water at Key West instead of on board.

Has anybody done this and where can you buy the water close to the port? :)

If you decide to buy water in Key West - you can go to the 500 block of Duval Street for they have a Walgreen's there - it once was a famous movie house called the Strand Theatre. Now remember you are in Key West and it will cost more since it does have to be trucked in from the mainland.

Thank you Shirley! You are such a great asset to these boards! :goodvibes

But the water will still be cheaper than on the boat. ;)

BTW, I will be calling you next year for a gift "bucket" for my DD7!

I bought water at the Walgreen's on our last cruise -- and nearly wretched my back rolling it the quarter mile to the ship (I put it all in a rolling duffel bag). I bought WAY too much -- can't remember how much we ended up bringing home !

Next cruise, I'm just going to drink the ship's water -- it's good and safe (basically distilled quality) and save my back

You know you can always go to Fausto's Market that is located on Fleming and Bahama Street - Fleming Street is where the hotel LaConcha and Fast Buck Freddy is -----the address is 522 Fleming Street and the phone number is 305-296-5663 (once upon a time that lot was a Chinese Laundry owned by a couple that were awesome and I was about 3 years old and everyday they would come get me (with my mom's permission) and I would sit watching them wash all the clothes by hand for the rich folks in town, pin them on clothes lines to dry and then iron all the clothes with such care - I remember they always had homegrown grapes for me and this is how I first learned to speak Chinese - I never knew what happened to them, but they are so vivid in my many wonderful memories of Key West.

We no longer lug water onboard either. I am VERY picky about the taste of my water and found the ship's water to be absolutely fine.

I am confused. I have read dozens of threads on water and beer purchases in Key West, but still can't figure out which is the closest place. How far is CVS/Walgreens/other)

If I wanted to purchase water and beer at the closest purveyor to the ship in Key West, where would I go?

Thanks!

Ed

Thanks for saying that........ The ship has a triple RO system and this is better than most bottled water companies. How about just bringing a drinking bottle to fill up for excursions? BIG WASTE of money to us.......:hippie:

Hello Ed,
Just thought I would answer this question in case you decide to go for it.
There is a smaller CVS just up one block Northeast of where the ship will be which is Mallory Square - CVS is located on 2 of our most well known and famous streets which is Front and Duval Street. I know they have water, but I didn't see any beer, but just maybe it was my oversight - if not head South on Duval Street about 3 blocks until you come to Fleming and Duval Street, turn to the left and on the next corner is Fausto Market which is on the corner of Fleming and Bahama Street.
Good luck
Always
Shirley
