What car Rental do you use to and from the port?

We use Hertz as we are Gold #1 members. The ease of just having the car ready and accumulation of points is my reason. We have always had excellent service at both MCO and the port. I called for an extra car on the day we docked in Port Canaveral and was easily accomodated.

We used Thrifty, and they were incredible. :thumbsup2 The shuttle was fast, free, and the driver was outstanding.

When we arrived back in Port, we called when collecting our baggage, and he was in the front when we got there. He took all 8 of us and our bags. It was the same driver, and he really did shine IMHO...

How far away are the car rental companies?

We go on the 3 night cruise....rent a car for 5 days and get stuck paying the parking at the port.....I know it makes sense for 7 day cruises to return cars at the port....but does it pay for the 3 night cruise? Rent in Orlando....drop off at port...then pick up at port and return at the airport? Seems like a hassle but may save significant $$$$....any advise?

Most are in Cocoa Beach, so a 5 to 10 minute drive. We rented a car for 29.75$ all taxes included. I think it is cheaper to rent it 2x, even for a 3 day. Parking at 12$ per day is also added on to your longer rental...

This was the first time we rented, but won't be the last. It is so hassle free, it really is. I used the codes from mousesavers, and the car pickup took 5 minutes, and returning it in MCO took even less.

We used Thrifty

We will be using Budget for the 3rd time in a few weeks. They have a free shuttle to the port, and they are reasonably priced.

Budget for us, but it was only one way. We took the DCL bus when we left SSR to the ship, but reserved a car on return so we could drive to VB. I did vote for Budget as that is the one I used last, but I am not sure who I will use on our next cruise. We will be going a couple days earlier and then renting a van as there are 10 of us. I am not sure who I will use.

Long story shortened, it took forever to get service from them when the car I rented broke down.

We arrived the day before our cruise and used Budget to the port (four of us.). Budget was right down the road from the port. We dropped off the car at Budget and their shuttle took us all to the port.

Coming back we had a car service take us right to the airport, since there were six of us coming back, that was cheaper than the Disney transfer. And we didn't really need a car on the return trip.

We are first time cruisers and decided to take the Limo instead of renting a car.

We have booked with Happy Limo - I had great service on the phone, I hope it works out well for travelling.

Anybody else use them?

We rented from Hertz at JAX and dropped at Canaveral, then reverse after the cruise. Less than a 5 minute wait both ways for the shuttle.

just out of curiousity how much did it cost to rent a car one way? am thinking of doing that for our may cruise.

There was no drop fee either way which was very nice, so the total price was no different than it would have been for a return to the same location.

Check around for the best rates!

Do you have to call the Port Hertz office and make arrangements for the shuttle, or do they just automatically run them to the port on Saturday mornings?

To be honest, I don't know because we called them to get another car when we arrived in port.

They are making the rounds, no need to call. We had to wait about 5 minutes...just like at the airport there's a special area signed off to wait at. Carnival was disembarking too so we had to swing by their terminal too...nobody got on and it was straight to the car lot.
