we are arriving/landing at 4pm on Friday. Approximately what time should be expect to arrive in Port Canaveral? Is 6pm stretching it?

The drived to the port is about 30-45 minutes. The thing that you can't determine is how long you will have to wait to check in and then for an actual bus to pick you up at the terminal. The buses usually run every half hour from 10 am.

Since you're arriving on Friday, are you renting a car or using a car service? There are no DCL buses on Friday. If you're renting a car, I would plan on at least 2 hours (probably a little more) to get your luggage, pick up the rental and make the drive. The drive is normally less than an hour, but traffic can get really backed up and it can take a lot longer. If you're using a car service, you could probably make it by 6pm (with normal traffic).

Unless you are really speeding 30 minutes is not really accurate....more like 45 to 55 minutes.

I forgot to mention that we are renting a car. So landing at 4pm, getting luggage, renting car, driving to Port Canaveral...about what time could we expect to arrive in PC?

There are some variables here...... how long it takes your luggage to come off the plane, which rental car company you're using (I've seen some huge lines at Budget at MCO) and the traffic. Even in a worst case scenario, you should be there by 7pm (if your flight is on time). You may make it by 6pm, if everything goes your way.

One way to speed things up a little is to sign up for the preferred renter program (if your car rental company has one). That can really cut down on how long it takes to get your car. I belong to the program at both Hertz and Budget and it really helps.

Can I offer a suggestion?
The Flight Attendants on our flight volunteered that if we were going to PC right after landing that we needed to eat in the airport before leaving. There literally is not a place to eat, if you take the direct route, until you get to PC.
Looks like you are arriving around dinner so I thought this info might help.

Other variables to add to the mix are how tired you may feel after a long flight from California. I know that after I have been flying for 5+ hours, I tend to be a little slower. Plus, I don't want to immediately get in a car and sit for another hour or so. Oh, also don't forget a roll of quarters for the tolls on the way to the Port!!

I think the suggestion about getting something to eat before you drive to Port Canaveral is an excellent one. One of the posters on our WB Panama Canal suggested to us eating at the Outback Steak House 9333 Airport Blvd. Orlando, FL 32827-4334 (407) 851-1334. You might want to pick up the luggage, get the car and then eat before you drive to the Port.

I know we were wiped out by the time we arrived in Port Canaveral from Northern California. Granted, we arrived much later, but I sure was glad we decided to stay at one of the airport area hotels that night, then head to the port in the morning.
