Hi All,

Quick question about Ocean Quest. I know that it is not supervised like the Club/Lab are but is there a CM there with the kids during the 10-14 yo age group programming? I'm sure DS12 will be fine either way, I was just curious.

I'm pretty sure there was a CM iy there all the time when we were there in December. Every time I came down to retrieve my son, there was one there.

There was always a CM there in '06, but they weren't able to do the computer simulation where they drive the ship. They told them it was down all the time, but we were never quite sure if that was the truth. :confused3

Just got off Oct 6th...and my sons(10,11) had supervision at all times and ran the simulator offten, we even had a chance on a "open house" day. Ocean Quest was wonderful the boys loved that they could join in the activitys if they wanted or just hang out.

Absolutely supervised. With check-in and check-out.

DS12 can't wait to go back in December. It was his favorite place to hang-out, run the sim, play with his peers, games, etc.

DS15 is lamenting that he is too old now to be there all the time

On our August T/A Repo cruise there was always one CM at the check in desk and at least one CM inside. The CMs were wonderful and my DD had a blast. :goodvibes They will also page you and let you know where your child is headed if requested.

What is so great about this place? I have no idea. Does anyone have a picture? What is there to do?

My dd11 absolutely loved it also. There were always a couple CM's and one at the front desk making sure no one was entering or leaving without them knowing. She can't wait for next August!

It is a (fairly) recent addition to the Magic just for the 10-14 year olds, although others can use it during Open times. There are video games, a large-screen TV and, perhaps most importantly, a ship simulator that allows you to virtually dock the Magic.

For us the best thing about OQ is that it is geared toward the pre-teens/young teens who may feel too old for the Lab or too young for The Stack. DS12 enjoyed the Lab the last time he cruised (he was 10) but was feeling a bit too old for it this time. I think that was a concern of a lot of older pre-teens. There are also a lot of 13 & 14 year olds who felt like they didn't fit in at The Stack. OQ is a great solution to both problems. DS is very excited about OQ and I think he will probably spend most of his time there.

I guess you could describe it as a cool hangout place for the 10-14 yr old set. I know on our cruise they had different theme nights, dance parties, Wii Tournaments and arts and crafts. Open houses are offered for parents and younger kids to try the place out.

There are definitely counselors there, and they will work with you if needed. We cruised with DS, then 13, who has Down Syndrome in Oct. 06. Ocean Quest does not have the sign in/out that the other clubs do. But DS wanted to go there (wthout us), and there was no way he could find his way back to our room on his own. So we arranged that he would tell the counselors when he wanted to leave, and they would page us on the pager from the other club (even though he was 13, we were able to register him in the club, since his developmental age was under 12.)

They wouldn't/couldn't prevent him from leaving OceanQuest on his own, but we told him that if he ever left without having us paged, he'd never go again. It worked out great. The counselors did keep a little extra eye on him for us.
