Yeah! another trip report from Dawn.......Looking forward to the rest of the report and your thoughts on Old Key West......Never have stayed there.....anyway, it really sucks driving in the rain...I always pack a couple of cold ones in the cooler to fire down once we have checked-in to take the edge off after a long drive....can't wait for more....popcorn:: now back to :surfweb:

Subscribing to the new thread. Great start to your report. Maybe I'll get started on mine - the laundry pile is almost "normal" now!

Enjoyed your last Trip report so I have to subscribe to this one,

Sounds like a good start,

4 hours sleep, could be interesting....:upsidedow

YAY! It's officially a trip report!

I hear ya on the torrential rain! I put my flashers on and drove 30 mph for about 25 miles. And what about that SR-429! Why isn't anybody using it??? It's so convenient and practically deserted!

OKW looks wonderful! See that bench where the old lady is sitting in the picture. That's where Emily and I waited for DH to come pick us up last year when we took the OKW bus from DTD by mistake. I sat there and ate my WP Express lunch. I kept getting these why-is-she-eating-at-the-bus-stop looks from people. Heh.

I can't imagine MK on 4 hours sleep. You girls are younger than me!

OKW was nice and quiet. i probably wouldn't stay there again though. the customer service wasn't disney-esque and it was kinda old-looking. and the transportation was horrid. i LOVED the 429 shortcut. it was deserted when we were on it, too, but it was around midnight so it was definitely deserted!

Subscribing over here.

thanks for coming over!

I'm feeling déja vu here ....

 i had to post it twice for the late-comers!

Coming out of lurkdom to say Hi and subscribe. I've read your other reports and really enjoyed them but I don't think I ever commented, sorry! Can't wait to read more about your trip!

thanks for saying hello! i lurk sometimes too....it's cool!

I hate driving at night let alone while it's raining. Thank goodness you guys are alright.

i don't mind the rain but this rain was so heavy and i couldn't see anything at some points! i love driving at night though. i think i drive better at night!

Great first installment, I can't believe they wouldn't let you use the toilet  And how come one CM wouldn't sign you in then the next one did Good job you finally got settled

Wow only 4 hours sleep :faint:

no idea about the toilet thing.....so strange! :confused3

Yeah! So glad you started it, can't wait for more popcorn:: Loved the "I'm not gonna ride it" comments

Lesley

you gotta know erin......she has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor and she said that the entire trip!

Subbing over here too! Love your TRs!

thank you!!!! :goodvibes

Girls trip! I can't wait to see what you can get jammed in 2.5 days... probably what it took us a week to do with a 4 year old and 17 month old.

we got a good bit done, but it was EXHAUSTING! i'm so glad we're planning on relaxing during our trip in april '08!

Our girls' trip starts tomorrow. This time tomorrow we will be on the road. I've never been so excited about a Halloween party in my life! I will look forward to catching up with your fun when we return. We were just at OKW this summer to eat lunch and roam around. Your picture made me want to be back there right now!

OKW was pretty and peaceful, but the customer service wasn't that great and the bus system was horrible (at least the one day we used it). i don't think i'd go back. but everyone likes something different! HAVE A BLAST ON YOUR TRIP!!!! :yay:

Subbing in over here! I can't wait to find out about your day at MK with only 4 hours of sleep....ugg!

it was interesting! thanks for subbing!

Hey Dawn...Great start!

I think the Disney sign pic is wonderful! There could never be a bad picture of those magical arches

Can't wait for the rest!

good point!

I hate driving in rain at night!

I laughed out loud about Erin falling asleep with her computer on her chest! :rotfl:

Sounds like a good start...can't wait to hear the rest!

she did it two nights in a row! :rotfl: she's so silly.

Subscribing... and yes, yours have LOTS more detail than mine!! :goodvibes

it's just my OCD kicking in.....nothing to brag about! :lmao:

subscribingpopcorn::

glad you're here!!! :)

Great start, Dawn! You gals must have alot of energy! I have trouble sitting in a chair and watching my grandbabies after only 4 hrs of sleep!

Erin must be like me! I usually fall asleep with the laptop on my chest while on the DIS

 she loves that rollercoaster tycoon game. my husband's the one that got her hooked on it. thanks, honey!

Hi Dawn I am here subbing but it is 4:00am so I will be back later to read...:surfweb:

4:00 a.m.? what were you doing up, silly girl? i need to get caught up on your TR....i've been MIA from all my TRs since i've been home from disney. :guilty:

like i said above, OKW was pretty and peaceful, but the customer service lacked and the transporation wasn't very good. you'll get more details later. ;)

Subscribing to the new thread. Great start to your report. Maybe I'll get started on mine - the laundry pile is almost "normal" now!

Subscribing...loved your other report(s?), think I commented a few times , but I mostly lurk. Great start...looking forward to more:)

Great start! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your girls trip. I'm hoping to do that same type of trip next year- -so I'll have to live vicariously through your TR for now! :surfweb:

tara - if you see anything in here that i remember incorrectly, please feel free to jump in! i didn't take notes, so i'm doing all this off memory and pictures.

the alarm went off WAY too early at 6:30. we rolled out of bed reluctantly and got ready. we wanted to catch a bus to MK between 7:15-7:30 because we had an 8:10 ADR at kona cafe and would have to either take the monorail or a boat from MK. if i recall correctly, we caught a bus within a couple minutes and we were the ONLY ones on the entire bus. we started talking to our driver and he asked where we were going. we told him to kona and he offered to take us directly to the poly since there was no one else on the bus. um...yeah.....that's fine with us! :thumbsup2

so to the poly we went. we ended up getting there like half an hour before our ADR, but they sat us almost right away. our server was very friendly and we had great service there. i wanted some pressed pot coffee, but neither tara nor erin were into the coffee (on only 4 hours of sleep??? yeah, it was strange to me, too), so i just got a cup for myself. i ordered tonga toast with bacon and tara also ordered tonga toast. i had originally wanted to share the tonga toast and a big kahuna with erin, but i found out she's allergic to bananas! so no splitting for us. needless to say, the tonga toast was very yummy and i was NOT disappointed! erin got the blueberry pancakes, but i didn't take a pic of anyone else's food but mine.

Picture005-3.jpg

i had two people comment on my alice crocs while were sitting. erin still thinks i'm a freak.

after we were finished eating, to our surprise our server appeared with this....

Picture007-2.jpg

Picture006-1.jpg

yay! our first birthday surprise!!!!! :woohoo: it was some sort of little cream puff thingie. pretty good, but we were all so full we didn't even finish that little thing.

erin went to smoke while tara and i took care of the check. when we left we went down to the smoking area and no erin. i was like, "great.....erin's lost at the poly." just then my cell rang and it was her. she was back up at the restaurant. we must've passed each other at some point.

we then caught the monorail over to the MK. as we were walking down the monorail ramp, we heard the opening ceremony finishing up. erin could see mickey and the gang in the distance and she was like, "oh, my gosh.....it's mickey!!!!" and she seriously got tears in her eyes. we made our way over to the guest services area and i traded my voucher in for a real-life AP! :woohoo:

we got through the gates and saw that the park was already decorated for fall.....

Picture010-2.jpg

just then i heard somebody say something about pluto. i looked over to the left and there he was! me and erin jumped in line. we were the second to meet him!

Picture012-4.jpg

Picture014-3.jpg

here's some more pics of main street all decorated for fall.....so pretty!

Picture015-2.jpg

Picture016-1.jpg

Picture017-1.jpg

we made our way to tomorrowland through the noodle station shortcut and i got us fastpasses for space mountain for later.

Picture018.jpg

we decided to ride buzz first.....no wait! here's erin and tara behind me on the ride. erin's looking at her gun like, "what the heck is this thing???" :rotfl2:

Picture021-3.jpg

we decided to come back and finish tomorrowland later and made our way to fantasyland. no one was up for doing the teacups with me and it's kinda silly to spin by yourself, so we bypassed those. i don't see what's wrong with spinning around in circles with a stomach full of tonga toast! :rolleyes1

the first thing we did in fantasyland was the pooh ride. i hadn't done this before so it was all new to me too. of course erin was asking if it was scary while we were walking towards it. yeah......the pooh ride is the SCARIEST THING HERE!!!!

he's so cute!

Picture029-2.jpg

continued in next post.....http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=21127070&postcount=32

next we went on snow white. no wait here, either. while were in what little line there was (literally just waiting for a car to pull up), i noticed the wishing well over to the left. i've never seen this before!

Picture031-1.jpg

the entire time erin kept asking if anything was going to jump out at her. :lmao:

up next was mickey's philharmagic.....

Picture034-1.jpg

this of course was a hit. i just love donald in this one! :donald:

we decided to go ahead and wait in the small line for peter pan. i don't think we waited more than 10 minutes before we were flying into neverland!!! :cloud9:

next came it's a small world. while we were waiting in the very small line, we saw a little girl up in the control booth waving at people. i think she won a dream to go up there or something.

ray and i skipped this one back in may, so this is the first time i'd been on it since i was 15! it's cute, but WAY too long! here's some pics i took......

Picture043.jpg

Picture042-1.jpg

Picture045-1.jpg

erin needed a smoke, so we headed towards the castle area because there's a courtyard for smokers in the back. tara and i went into tink's treasures to look around while erin was out smoking. here's peter with tink's box!

Picture046-1.jpg

we found erin behind the castle and i saw an angle of it i'd never seen before. at least the smokers have something cool to look at!

Picture047-3.jpg

while we were standing there the "dream along with mickey" show started. i got a shot of the backstage stuff goin on....

Picture049-1.jpg

tara and i were itching to ride the haunted mansion because of the rehab, so we made our way over there...

Picture050-1.jpg

the entire time we were standing in line erin was asking if the ride was scary. she's so silly! she made me promise to tell her if anything was going to jump out at her. of course nothing jumps out at you during the HM because it's completely cheesy! i did, however, fail to warn her about the little head that pops over the headstone during the graveyard scene. she got SO MAD at me for that one! :rolleyes1

the changes in the HM were great! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!! the things that stood out most to me most were that the stretching room got new wallpaper. also, there's a new scene with footsteps on a staircase that reminds me of harry potter. the best thing i thought was the attic scene. you keep seeing pictures of a bride with her husband and his head's cut off. here's a pic i got of the end of that scene. the glowing "thing" is the bride and she has one of those lifelike faces that's talking to you as you go by....

Picture186.jpg

after that we headed over to frontierland to see what the waits were for splash and BTMRR. erin and tara got in line for splash while i went and got fastpasses for BTMRR. i found them in line and i think we waited about 15 minutes for splash.

erin loved this ride (as does everyone!). tara would tell her, "erin, this is the big drop" when it wasn't. :rotfl: we're so mean. i don't think we got too wet on the drop....we got SOAKED during the part where you pass the big drop and it sprays on you. it got the entire right side of my body wet!

here's my redneck picture. me and tara ducked at the bottom so that erin got more of the water than we did!

Picture052-1.jpg

after going to the restroom and wringing out my shorts, we headed to pecos bill's for lunch. it was crowded, but we didn't have to wait too long. i got a burger without cheese and loaded up on pickles at the fixins bar. :goodvibes we found a seat pretty easily. my burger was okay....nothing special. the bun was really hard. i had heard good things about this place, but i don't think i'll be back. i like casey's hot dogs better!

stay tuned for the rest of our MK-on-4-hours-of-sleep experience! :flower3:

I am glad you arrived safe and got through those rains okay! Erin is a hoot. Did you worry when she started to tell you that she wasn't going on rides?

You got some great pictures! You must have been on a mission.

I am ready for more!

When I was there a few years ago in the fall I am pretty sure it wasn't decorated. That is great! I am excited to see it all!

Great update!

1) Love the Alice shirt on ya! :cutie:

2) Love the Main Street pictures! They do make it look beautiful for fall!

3) I can't believe you've never noticed the wishing well on Snow White!

Sounds like you are having a fun day! Do you have a pic of your "Alice Crocs"? Never heard of them. Are they the Mary Jane's???

at first i did worry, but then when she was asking me about the safari she said, "what are you riding in?" and i said, "it's like a big truck with like 30 people in it, not like a little jeep or anything." and then she said, "i'm not riding it." i knew at that point she was kidding. i mean, why would that make her not want to ride it, ya know? so then it became a joke the rest of the trip. I'M NOT RIDING IT!!!!!

Great update!

3) I can't believe you've never noticed the wishing well on Snow White!

1) thanks! i was gonna wear the peter pan one, but it's made of that stretchy material that starts stretching out when you get sweaty, so i didn't want to wear that at our all-day MK day!

2) it was gorgeous!!!

3) i'm sure i saw it when i was a kid and just don't remember it. before last may, i hadn't been since i was 15 and i'm 31 now. i guess i just didn't notice it last may!

Sounds like you are having a fun day! Do you have a pic of your "Alice Crocs"? Never heard of them. Are they the Mary Jane's???

they're kinda like mary jane crocs, but they're slimmer and they don't have holes. i don't think you can see them in any pictures until our MGM day. but i did take a pic for my pre-TR. here's the link to that post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=20590535&postcount=147

here's the link for them at the crocs website: http://shop.crocs.com/pc-421-4-alic...=41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products

That is great food porn pic of the Tonga Toast.

Your day started out perfectly...no one on the bus and a direct route to Poly, then getting in early for your ADRs!

How was the comfort factor with the Alice crocs? I just bought me a pair today! (Actually, my mom is in town for a visit and she surprised me with them!)

You girls are so funny telling Erin the drop was coming up when it wasn't. :rotfl: I love it!
