Well, we just got back from The World on Saturday night (really, Sunday morning by the time we drove home from the airport) and we had a great time!! :thumbsup2

The weather didn't cooperate for a couple of days. It rained/drizzled for a good chunk of our AK day, and the skies were mostly white.

I still took about 1,500 pics with my S3 and just had to share a dozen of my favorites with you all.

Spaceship earth!

They were letting us take pictures of Nemo the Musical (no flash, of course), and I got a couple of good ones considering I was at the far back of the auditorium and at full zoom -- DS11's in a wheelchair, so we're either right up front (rarely) or all the way at the back (usually):

One of the ghosts was out of the Haunted Mansion for MNSSHP:

And, I got at least one decent Fantasmic! pic:

Thanks, Pea-n-me, for inspiring me to take this one:

Here's another from the Expedition Everest exit landing:

Here's the Epcot fountain at night:
EPCOTFountain.jpg

And, the Enchanted Tiki Room waiting area fountain (I used my polarizer to get a slow shutter speed for the "water-blur"):

We met Cpt. Jack Sparrow (this guy REALLY looked like Johnny Depp and he had the mannerisms NAILED!! His "Pirate Tutorial" was hilarious and one of the only things I video'ed):
Cpt.Jack1.jpg

We were right up front for Beauty and the Beast. Here's Belle:
Belle1.jpg

And, did you know there's a dragon lurking under a bridge in Animal Kingdom (our Pal Mickey pointed it out to us!):

And, one more from a show -- Indiana Jones, this time -- I've never been able to get anything even close to this with my other cameras. As usual, it's from the back of the auditorium, so I'm at full zoom:

What do you think?

Just a note, all of these pictures are exactly how they came out of the camera (except for resizing to 640x480) ... no PP, not even any Noiseware on the ISO 400 shots....

Nice! My faves are the ghost (creepy), the Epcot fountain and Belle. Thanks for sharing!

Your pictures are great. I just got the S5 and I can't wait to go to Disneyworld in December to see what it can do.

those are GREAT pictures!! I'm inspired for my upcoming trip!! Can't wait to see more! :cool1:

I love the pic you got of the Yeti shadow! What a brave soul you are to attempt a picture on this ride!!!:scared1:

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!! :goodvibes

I *knew* I had to try for that pic when I first saw Pea-n-me's ... it was just too cool not to go for!!

Luckily, you stop in that room for a couple of moments and you've got (just) enough time to get the camera up and snap off a couple of pics. I think I got three or four really blurry ones and that one!

But, you really do have to ride with the camera in hand and ready to go!

However, I'm a big coaster-head -- I've never seen a coaster I wouldn't ride -- and, I almost never hold on, anyway! ;)

Did you use different settings for the different pictures or let the camera do it all?

I used either P Mode when I was just snapping whatever caught my eye, or Av Mode when I wanted more control (usually in the low-light areas).

I also journeyed into Manual a few times because I needed to get the settings exactly the way I wanted it.

Thanks for that info. I've been trying different settings on my camera which is similar to the S3 and so far have found the pics in auto mode or scene mode are better than the ones where I changed something. Guess I still have some learning to do.:surfweb:

Not too shabby... for a PnS. :rotfl2: :rotfl: Kidding, kidding! :)

Re: the Everest shot, yeah that one is pretty standard since you're stopped there, I've seen the same shot a few times. My version is here (it's taken at almost exactly the same moment, curiously enough) - that and the shots of the ripped-up tracks are almost mandatory if you bring your camera along. :) Similarly, I also got shots of the ride being stuck on the main ascent, although in mine, it was right at the top so you couldn't see the first couple cars - which is where my sister-in-laws were stuck! They had to climb down 14 stories of stairs...

I'm surprised about the Finding Nemo photos being OK - the announcement now just says "no flash photography"? Back in January, they were making it very clear that it was not allowed at all! And as for the shot - isn't that always the way; take a photo of a group and someone always blinks!

I didn't stumble across the dragon at AK in January although I knew that it was around there somewhere - I did get shots of the dragonhead that's above the entrance turnstiles, and there is a dragon in sillhouette on some of the signs by the entrance. Next time I'll remember to check exactly where it is just before we leave, so I remember!

Glad you had a good time. Now to plan the next trip.........

Interesting.. Two weeks ago I didn't really catch one way or the other what they said about photography in the announcement, so I just assumed no flash was ok (but I do force my LCD off to be courteous) and snapped away happily and nobody bothered me.. (with awesome results :goodvibes , I'll post one later)

Beautiful pictures, Stitch! :thumbsup2 That rain is a killer, isn't it?

I especially love the Tiki Room water shot and other water shots. I haven't gotten any water to look like that yet, LOL. Nice to see it can be done. (Will have to pick your brain about it later.) Also great Fantasmic pic!

Like the Yeti shot! For the record, my husband took that shot with his S2. My hands were occupied white knuckling the bar!

Post some more when you get a chance!

Those look great. I think we had the same Jack...on Thursday was it?

I like the dragon, where exactly was that in AK.

LPZ,

Those are great! Although I must say that I am not surprised. Both the S3 and your knowledge of how to use it properly have done you well. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

About the only good thing to come out of the overcast days was that the waterfall pics came out nice and silky. Unfortunately, most of my safari pics were not as sharp as I would have liked because I was only getting 1/100th shutter speeds or less, and not even the S3's IS can cope with bouncing around like that! :)

Yes, that was Jack on Thursday. The Jack on Friday also looked very close to Johnny Depp, but wasn't quite as good an actor.

The dragon is right on shore, below one of the bridges. I *think* it's the one to Camp Minnie-Mickey, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks ... I think.... :lmao:

That's a good shot, too!

I have one of the ripped up tracks at the top, too ... but it's not a good one because it was a very overcast day and the sky is pure white....

Didn't there used to be an eagle soaring up there? I didn't see it this time....

I specifically asked the CM who seated us (at the back, of course) if it's OK to take pics without flash and was told "yes". However, the announcement sounded the same. I also set my camera to 'Mute' to be polite.

Glad you had a good time. Now to plan the next trip.........

Yup ... we're thinking during EPCOT's Food and Wine Festival, next year! :cool1:

Loved the Yeti and the water at the Tiki Room. Would you please share your settings for these?? Thanks great job!!

Beatuiful pics. I love the yeti shot and Capt Jack. Very nice. They make me want to go by myself just to just take pictures.
