HELP! Organizing a Crop for School Fundraiser

Ladies,

Have any of you organized a crop fro a fundraiser? I'm trying to think of ideas where we don't hit up the same population all the time. I can't find much on the web about the "nuts-n-bolts" of organizing one.

Anyone have a checklist or ever done one for a fundraiser?

I know Lisa worked on one for Breast Cancer Awareness. You may want to PM her, she might be able to point you in the right direction.

A fundraiser crop is a great way to raise money for various organizations, it's a lot of work but satisfying and well worth the effort.

Not only did the proceeds of the registration fee go to Breast Awareness, we also did a raffle. If memory serves me right, we had two tables of items. Raffle items ranged from massages, Mary Kay cosmetics, Tastefully Simple, and CM products. The raffle brought in quite a bit of money.

Advertising was key, we advertised on our local cable channel, in the town magazine, and every person we knew who scrapbooked. We kept the food tasty but simple, and made sure we had enough for everyone. Our crop went from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, including coffee and donuts, lunch and beverages. The cost was $40. We also included a goody - a page completion kit.

I love this idea, and would love more information about it...ie timeline, how many signed up, how many people did it take to run it, any problems that you came across and anything else you can think of.
What a fun idea.

I mentioned a crop fundraiser to the local PTO but it would be all on me and I would need to come up with all the 'nuts and bolts' as you put it...
so I am going to chime in, subscribe and see what you all say before I decide if I really want to take on such a project.

My DD's school PTA is having a scrapbook night tonight. Everyone pays $5.00for a slice of pizza and soda. The crop room is opened and the school gets 20% of the proceeds from all sales tonight. It's a really easy event adn can be pretty profitable. They do it once every other month.

It is held at the LSS. They have a beautiful large crop room and 40 people have RSVPed for tonight. And yes, it's 20% of the sales will be given back to the school.

I love this idea....how many people showed up? And how many tables did you have set up? I'd love to see more on this...I may have to suggestion this to our band boosters. Their looking for something new and different from the other things that PTO does. Please let us know what else we sure keep inmind when we do this? Did you have access to the school kitchen as well?

We had 47 people sign up and prepaid, 44 attended. We had two people each at a 8' table. We also had tool tables, and tables with product to purchase. Two tables full of raffle goodies.

Our fundraiser was not at a school but at a community hall. The room was the size of a school cafe though and yes, we had access to a kitchen.

Wow! I wish we could do that here...but I would be responsible for it too..and I'm already doing the basket raffle among other things and trying to make sure our PTO stays working smoothly! I tell ya, I think I'm the only one around here that scrapbooks!!! Which speaking of scrapbooks I need to run and get some page kits together...and than start deciding on photos for the kids' paper bag albums for their CC season...

The crop cost $40 pp. We had several CM consultants there; two of us had product to sell. None of the sales proceeds went toward the fundraiser (it really didn't amount to much anyway, covered our time into the event), just the registration fee went toward the fundraiser. CM consultants, customers, and friends donated raffle items, I think we sold six tickets for a $1. Really can't remember exact the cost, but I do remember each person received a few raffle tickets in their goody bag too.

What an awesome idea!! My son just started kindergarten so I really don't know how many parents/ families are scrappers. Its worth suggesting to our PTA. Is there any websites/retailers that would help a school crop fundraiser?
I'd be interested in any suggestions. thanks
