HOUSE, It just gets worse.

I have no idea why I watched it tonight. I DVRd it so I could avoid the commercials. His attitude isn't compatible with employment as a janitor, let alone a physician. No one works in the hospital besides his team who do MRIs, cardiac caths, PET scans and surgery. I don't recall seeing any nurses to speak of. And then he goes into the OR with an open chest, he's wearing gloves but no MASK. Yup, I know its a show, but it should have at least one foot in reality. My worst nightmare would be waking up in his hospital! :rotfl:

It's why I do not watch any medical show. I constantly sit there thinking "No one would do that".

I especially get a kick out of the ones where the doctors treat the nurses like crap and the nurse is like "OK doctor. Yes doctor. Whatever you say doctor". I can tell you that any doctor who makes nay sort of nasty comment to pretty much any nurse in my hospital gets their head handed to them.

There was one episode where the pregnant Mom had open heart surgery and later that night was sitting up feeding her baby..No tubes or IVs..Maybe that was Grey's Anatomy?

My daughter loves that show so I have seen parts of it. It makes me crazy though when someone is using a cane on the same side as their injury...that is a NO NO in the Physical Therapy world. That doc uses his cane on the wrong side. :rotfl:

Ed uses his on the same size... They were not happy about that at all.. He's just not comfortable any other way.

DH and I used to really enjoy the show the first couple seasons. Then each episode became more and more ridiculous and the part that I find even more disturbing is he plays a known druggie and almost died from an overdose. Having lost a 38yo brother to an alcohol/drug overdose :sad1:, I realized I needed a better form of entertainment.

I watched it ONCE. the cured a man who was in a coma with some simple "cure" I couldn't watch it again... VERY unrealistic!

as for the open heart surgery. My daughter was up and about, well as much as up and about happens when your 6 months old the night after her surgery.. she had 3 tubes but they were covered by her shirt.

I tried to watch but it is the same thingevery week. House solves a medical problem in his caustic way....snooze fest for me.

:sad1: I am so sorry

Thank you . My brother was really a good person, who sadly had a terrible weakness, that all our intervention could not save. It's heartbreaking to watch someone you love have an addiction that gradually destroys them and their family. :sad1:

:thumbsup2 No kidding.

Don't you realize it was a re-run? ;)

Jenny, i think you are right, that was probably GA, as I don't recall seeing that one on House (I watch both though)

I guess I don't care because TV is all about ENTERTAINMENT. No one ever gets anything right on any of these shows... nothing is close at all to being real.

I agree. Most shows are completely unrealistic, but I don't mind as long as its still entertaining.

I love that show. Not for it's realistic view on the clinic/hospital setting, but for entertainment. Sometimes I have to give it the ol  I guess there's nothing better on those nights.

:grouphug: So sorry. My older brother has an alcohol addiction which will most likely kill him. There is nothing I can do but watch. It's a tough place to be.

As far as realism, my mom was an ER nurse for many years. I remember watching ER with her and her saying, "I don't know any nurses who always look perfect during every CODE nor do I know any doctors who have all of the answers all of the time." Now I just can't watch medical shows. Then I went and married a cop and have had to cross off every police and crime drama except the Shield. Oh well. The show about lobbyists was cancelled after a couple of episodes so I don't get to return the favor for them!

I agree. Maybe it doesn't bug me because I'm not in a medical field, but I really like the show and find it enjoyable. To me, it's more about the personalities which I get a kick out of.

Everyone keep telling yourself... it's just a TV show... it's just a TV show.....:happytv:

Dawn--you really have a love hate relationship with this show don't you?:lmao: I totally agree that it is unrealistic. And WHY does no patient complain about this idiot?? I am not in the medical profession but have spent enough time in the hospital with DS to know that none of this would fly. And hey, if DS urologist and nephrologist would actually do his ultrasounds and MRIs it would sure save me a lot of time. We could all just stand there and chat about what they see and I would not have to run around to a bunch of different appointments!

I really like his friend though--don't remember his name, but the other Dr who he stole the Rx pad from.

DH works with computers and I got so tired of him pointing out errors on shows that I told him if he didn't stop I wouldn't watch tv with him anymore.
