I just got back last night. One place I ate, Citricos/GFC lunch, my server volunteered info about the 1900 Park Fair change in characters. After the rehab, Cindy and Prince Charming will still be at dinner, but the others will all be replaced by the Stepmother and Stepsisters (confirming what has been previously reported). As a father of 3 young ones himself, he expressed concern of having "mean" characters, but he said it's being done to update the dinner to more of the theme of the movie "Cinderella III" (since I haven't seen that movie, I don't know-I just report). Also, the new meal will be more "show"-like, not just the characters walking around to tables. He didn't know any details of that. Other than that, I ate at Boma's, YCG, Cape May CB, CHH, BC Marketplace, Boardwalk Bakery (2X), Mara, B&C, Mrs. Pott's Cupboard, Pop Century, Ghiardelli's. Any questions, I'd be happy to try to answer.

how was your lunch at citrico's/gfc? are they using the gfc menu? what did you order and did you like it? i'm looking at gfc for when i go in february (it'll be back to normal then, right?). thanks!

How was Boma? We have a ressie but don't really like strange (I mean different) foods. Linda

That sounds very interesting. We have Nov. ressies at 1900 PF.

How was the Mara? I'm thinking of trying it for lunch. We've never seen the AKL before and I would love to see it in person.

The menu at Citrico's lunch was pretty much the same as GFC and prices were the same as on Deb Will's site. However, there were a few things that are on the menu she lists that weren't offered, like the rueben sandwich, which I was really looking forward to. And there were a few other things missing. I had the Caesar salad with shrimp, which I loved! I'm definitely going back to GFC on my next trip and having that again. My server, Simon, was a GFC server, and very nice.
Boma was OK but I'm not sure I'd go there soon. I'll go to Mara instead! I was especially looking forward to the butternut squash soup, but I was disappointed that it was just luke-warm at Boma. The fu-fu potatos (or whatever they're called) were just luke-warm too. The prime rib was excellent. But I think that next time I'll go to Mara's instead-I've had the soup there 3 times, it's always been hot there, and the zebra domes are just as good there as at Boma. Also, they have cafeine free diet coke at Mara but not at Boma.

thanks for the review, i'll definitely have GFC on my list for feb!

Thanks for the update on 1900 PF. We have ressies in early November too and DD (16) was really excited to hear that if this rumor is true she will finally get autographs from Lady Tremaine and the step-sisters. She missed them at P&P in August and will be glad to get a second chance.

FWIW, Cinderella III is sort of a reimagined what if kind of story where some things in the original happen differently and the story changes (I think one of the stepsisters is nice or something?) I am not explaining it well, especially since I am relaying through my DD6's recap, but I know the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine play a major role. So maybe now they aren't all "mean" if it is following the movie.

I think Cinderella III makes the stepmother even meaner, because she becomes more of an evil witch with magical powers. My DDs definitely wouldn't go for meeting her :sad2:

Thanks for the info! I think the changes at 1900 PF sound great...a little something different from all those character meals! We have ADRs for Feb, so will be looking for all the reviews before then.

This sounds wonderful! We have ADR's in December.

I have been looking for the Stepmother and Stepsisters for years and have NEVER been able to find them. :yay:

Did your server happen to mention if the breakfast characters are changing as well? I know pre-rehab it was typically Mary Poppins and the Alice in Wonderland characters. We're planning on taking my daughter to 1900 breakfast for her first birthday on October 7th...don't think she'll really care one way or the other, but I was looking forward to meeting the Mad Hatter. :rolleyes1 Thanks for the info!

kandb,

Just thought I'd let you know that in Sept of 2005 we went to the Boma. I kept asking my kids and husband. They said, "No, sounds yucky, we don't see anything on the menu that sounds good!" I had wanted to try the African food. It didn't sound interesting to me either, but I wanted to try the flavor for the experience. I had kept bringing it up to my husband and at least three times a resounding, NO!

Last minute I booked just my husband and I at the Boma. Did I like it? No, I wouldn't care to go again. It wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the food or the atmosphere. But my husband on the other hand liked it very much. It was one of his top picks out of 11 days of food at Disney!:confused3 Go figure.:rolleyes1
So, you can do all the research, but sometimes you just make the plunge and decide for yourselves. It will either be :thumbsup2 or :headache: You don't know till you try. We tried several things that people gave thumbs down reviews and liked them. We tried some rave reviews like Fantasmic and wouldn't go back. Why? We had two young children that were scared to death. We have a varied ages in our family. Another place I won't go back to is Snow Whites ride.:sad2: It is too scary for little ones. At least mine. They are not used to wicked witches looking mean at you. I am very disapointed that Disney has used that aspect to their ride. I would rather see the love story. Snow white is one of my favorites, that is why I am so disapointed!:sad1: I am more your hopeless romantic and happy person, I don't like the bad, wicked things. Well enough on my soap box.

Just had to tell you my husband wanted nothing doing with the Boma and it ended being like # 2 or #3 pick!:upsidedow

Simba's Mom -- Did the CM happen to mention when the revised Cinderella/Tremaine character meal will kick off?

Thanks

Does anyone know when the rehab will be finished? We are going to be at Disney in October and I would love to take DGD to meet the step sisters.

I'm not positive of my memory here, but I think he mentioned September 15th or so. And he only mentioned changes at dinnertime, no changes at the breakfast.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to try 1900 Park Faire with the new characters!

Our ADR is for 10/2 which is the date when I was told it would 1st reopen. But that was back in May when I made the reservation. Maybe they will be ahead of schedule.:goodvibes

I'm looking forward to hearing reviews before we go in November. I hope it's not too scary.

My DD is afraid of characters and I was surprised when she didn't cry when Winnie the Pooh came near her at CP. I want her to meet Cinderella, but if the others act scary near her, that will be the end of the meal for her. :(
