Have you been to WL and POR (part 2)? Which pool is better?

If the pool was the deciding factor, which resort would you pick?

Ok, I have another thread going (with poll too!) for which resort would you return to if money was no object.
This thread is an offshoot of that one. If the pool alone was your criteria for picking WL vs POR which would it be?
Please bear in mind that we have kids (when next we go they will be DD8/DD11), who, while not rowdy in the pools, do like to go on slides etc. Thanks in advance for any help... it's appreciated! :surfweb:

We have stayed at POR 2x and WL 1x. I voted for WL's pool. It's not that the WL pool itself is so much better than the POR pool, imo, it was more that the surroundings while you are in the WL pool are breathtaking. I absolutely love the grounds at POR, so very beautiful and lush, but when you are in the WL pool, you look up and feel completely surrounded by the enormity and beauty of the lodge itself. You feel close to MK, close to the lake, you have the fun geyser, and I just fell in love with the whole WL experience. At POR, however, I was always able to find a vacant lounge chair to sit on. Not the case at WL. I have a feeling there's a whole lot of pool hoppin' going on at WL (and Poly for that matter). tink
ps. can't find your other thread, otherwise I'd post there too. :)

Stayed at both places numerous times.. WL has the best pool and is the best resort also ;)

WL's pool is better themed, but my opinion is that it is way too small for a resort of this size. POR has a great themed pool with a good slide. I'd not personally choose the resort based on the pool alone, but PORs is better.

WL....easily for me...

The beauty that surrounds you is priceless...

I just stayed at pofq and visited the POR pool....

I thought it was about the same size as POFQ....I thought it
would be bigger....

WL pool is not bigger it just feels so much better.

edit...also you can have a very long walk to the main pool at POR.

Thanks everyone for your votes and comments! I think that between this post and my other on which resort you'd like I'm pretty much decided on WL... now I just have to wait until I get there! Thanks again! :surfweb:

if you were judging by pool and money is not an issue then beach club hands down

I've stayed at both more times than I can count and for the pool only, POR wins by a slide. The slide at WL is tiny and the pool small and not nearly big enough for this resort. POR pool slide is twice the size. I love the soft bottom of the pool at POR. But if you're thinking moderate, the pool at CSR is the best of the moderates. Mind you we love WL, but don't even bother with the main pool anymore. We usually just sit over at the DVC/quiet pool now.

I know you've already made your decision, but I just asked my 11 year old and he said POR. The slide is bigger it seems like you have more space to swim and play around in POR. We were just at WL and we couldn't do much in the pool without swimming into someone or having a kid crash into you. Maybe it is because POR has several quiet pools around the resort.

Enjoy.

We will be at WL again in December. I doubt we will be doing much swimming then.

We've stayed at POR several times, just wonderful! Now we've never actually stayed at WL but visited a couple times to eat, etc., and not really feeling that resort that much, particularly the pool area. Very small and crowded.

Hmmm.... now you've got me thinking again! Drat! :goodvibes That's OK though, I love planning almost as much as going... well maybe not that much! :surfweb:

This July, my family and I did a split stay at WL and POR. We were originally staying only at WL, but on the night before our check-out day we decided to stay an extra day and got a room at POR. No offense to POR, but I don't think you can even compare the pool at a moderate resort to one at a deluxe. Ol' Man Island is fine, but I'd definitely pick WL. You can't beat the surroundings: the waterfall, woods, view of the geyser, etc.
