Lunch buffet on the Wonder

You can go to the Lunch Buffet as soon as you board the DCL, and the lunch usually consists of cold meats and breads. I remember the carver cutting cold ham, and a selection of cheeses to eat. Fruit also avaliable Cold and hot drinks also avaliable at the end of the end. Usually a pretty good lunch, and great time to relax, and plan out the rest of your day. That's pretty much what I remember.
Are you cruising yourself?

Hey,

From what I've read in the Passporter, the buffet at Beach Blanket and Parrot Cay both end before leaving port. We will be cruising for the first time in October so I don't know this first hand.

Have a great cruise!

Thanks for the info. Yes we are cruising on the Wonder Sept. 20. I can't wait. :)
Sounds great, yes I forgot to add that I was talking about the Beach Blanket Buffet, never actually tried the Parrot Cay for lunch to be honest. We're cruising 30th March, hope we have as much fun as you! :)
Try ********************** for some good info on DCL. I found out most facts on there.

You'll be cruising while I'm at Disneyland! Have a great time Pirate. Passporter is a great book, and I also read that. Ships leave Port Canaveral at 5:00pm, so lunch will have finished and dinner will probably be starting. I think it starts when they first load, at around 11:00am, and lunch finishes at about 2-3:00pm?
Have a great cruise both of you. popcorn::

Yes I was asking for when we first board the ship. I want to get the vacation started early.

Don't forget there's ice cream, fruit, hamburgers, chicken tenders, pizza, and hot and cold bevreges avaliable on Deck 9 free of charge. I made the mistake of enjoying the ice cream to much to not feel well for my evening meal. :rolleyes1

Anyone have a menu for Parrot Cay lunch? I've read some recommendations to go to PC for lunch when you board rather than the buffet, so I think we might try that. It may be the only lunch we'll have in the dining rooms since the other days we'll be in port or a day at sea (pool day = buffet!).

We leave Sunday! :yay:

The embarkation lunch in Parrot Cay is the same as at Beach Blanket Buffet (and Topsiders on the Magic)...it is a buffet. I know on the Magic the lunches at Parrot Cay are always buffets and have the same theme as the Deck 9 buffet. Lumiere's (Triton's on the Wonder) serves the sit down, menu-style lunch but it is not available on embarkation day.

Shrimp Shrimp no one has mentioned the peel and eat Shrimp.

Oh I hope they still have it when we sail in December.

Hey,

It's good to know that Parrot Cay and Beach Blanket serve the same thing. I heard that Parrot Cay's was more seafood--which I love--but I really wanted to eat outside too.

Does anyone know which Buffet is more crowded?

They tend to direct you to one or the other, depending on crowds at the time. We prefer Topsiders/BBB so we always head up there, even if they are directing us to PC. I would guess that most first-timers will head to the restaurant they are directed to and repeat cruisers will head to their favorite of the two. I would guess that the crowd size is similar.

One thing to mention...at Parrot Cay they take you to a table and then you go up the the buffet. Servers take your drink orders. At Topsiders/BBB you are directed right into a line so most people have their carry-on items with them. Also, you get your own drinks at Topsiders/BBB. If you choose to go to Topsiders/BBB I would suggest bypassing the serving line, finding a table and then going back to get your food.

Happy sailing!

What type of seafood do they have on the buffet?

Hey Safetymom,

I'm not sure. The Passporter didn't specify, it just said "seafood". I was excited about it because the menus I've seen leave alot to be desired for seafood lovers. Not that I'm complaining.

I have been on three cruises on the Magic and all three have eaten at Topsiders. Haven't like it one bit. Last cruise I went through the buffet line getting only the shrimp. Then went to Goofy's Galley and got a wrap and fruit. Much better. ALso hit the dessert buffet.

We had lunch at the Beach Blanket Buffet on the Wonder last Thursday. They had various salads, ham, turkey & cheeses, as well as some good peel & eat shrimp. Also they had lots of fruit, fried pork cutlets, and I believe a carving station with beef. I can't remember anything else at the moment, but I believe there were some hot side dishes as well.

It was nice to go up right after boarding (a little after noon) and having lunch outside on the aft deck.

Have fun!

When we went a couple of weeks ago, we didn't get a choice as to which buffet when we boarded. They just directed us to an elevator up to Beach Blanket. We were in group seven for boarding onto the ship. The buffet was wonderful - so much selection. On other days - at lunchtime they had a separate buffet line for the kids. Adults could go through both lines if you choose. Each buffet we went to was wonderful.

You can always choose the buffet you prefer, you just have to say "Oh, we'd rather go to Topsiders/BBB" or vice versa. They try to send some people to each buffet to ease crowding but will honor your request. If you cruise again and would rather be at one buffet over the other just ask!
