Disney Cruise with Teens?

My kids, ages 15, 14, and 12, are very interested in a Disney cruise since we have done the parks many times, but I'm worried that maybe they are a little past the best age for this. PLEASE let me know what your teens thought of the Disney cruise! Did it seem geared more to young kids? Were they bored at all? Would teens be better off on another cruise line? Thank you for your help!

we went on two disney cruises - on the first my son was 15 on the second he was 16....
he LOVED both cruises.....he had an outstanding time on both cruises...and that doesn't even come close to saying how much he enjoyed himself..

on both cruises he spent almost all of his time with the teen club...he had a great time with the other kids and thought the teen club CMs were excellent (and very funny - he still quotes them)...

he would definitely tell you to go for it....

DS was almost 14 on our last cruise, and loved hanging out in the Stack. He participated in some Stack activities (they did some team games, hunts, etc) that he really enjoyed. Other times, he just 'hung out' (went swimming, to the movies, played games in the Stack) with other kids he met at the Stack. He had a great time (it was our 2d DCL cruise) and is dying to go back!

As an aside, my kids (DS and his twin brothers, now 10) would be all too happy doing the clubs or hanging out with their friends all day. As this was also a "family" vacation, it worked well for us that the kids could pick their daily agenda, but dinner and after dinner show were family time. It worked great on both cruises for us, and to my surprise, no complaints from the boys!

My sons were 13 & 15 when we cruised. We go to WDW frequently and to be honest, DS13 is always the least into it. I was concerned that he wouldn't have fun on board our 4 night. I didn't have to worry. He probably had the best time out of all of us. He loved ALOFT, he had a blast there. He really enjoyed the counselors as well as the games and activities on board. We booked another cruise for next year and he's very excited to go again. It really made my cruise extra special knowing that all three of my kids had a blast, not just my youngest (DD6).

I just got off the Wonder on Sunday with my 14 year old daughter. She LOVED it. She enjoyed the extra freedom and had a lot of fun at Aloft. She also did the Wild Side excursion at Castaway Cay and had a blast. I was afraid that she might not make friends but it was a silly worry and she left the ship having met a few and definitely one that she will likely keep in touch with.

By the second day, she was already planning what we'd do on a longer cruise. The next cruise we go on, we will have 3 teenagers and I have faith they will all love it.:

My kids were 11 & 12 on our cruise last month and to be honest they had the best time ever this cruise.

DS cannot wait until next year when he goes to Aloft.

At the kids club on the Wonder they had playstation, gamecube, wii, guitar hero 2 and the DDR machine is right outside Aloft.

My kids enjoyed the arcade as well.

It really helps to join your cruise meet thread as there may be other families with kids the same age. My DD met another girl her age through our cruise meet and the two girls hit it off immediately.

I've heard wonderful things about the Wild Side excursion at CC. Can't wait for DS to try it next year.

We were on the 8/23 Wonder and everyone we talked to on that cruise thought it was outstanding. Hope yours was, too.

Funny you should ask, my daughter (15 at the time) had a wonderful time and made some very good friends (we were on the 7 day). The teens still IM all the time and have managed to get together once since the cruise.
My teens are crushed that there is no cruise in our future.
Don't worry, the activities are unique and fun (imagine a group of teens crab-walking around the 5th deck of the atrium) and my daughter still talks of the fun

I had the same concerns before we cruised on Aug 12 with my almost 14 y/o dd. She tends to be on the quiet side but she had a ball at Aloft. She also did the Wild Side and other than getting lost on the bike ride had a great time. She actually was out later than her father and I every single night. We were already in bed when she would come in around midnight. I was concerned about safety issues but it was never an issue.
She can't wait to cruise again!!!!

Older DDs were about to turn 13 and 15. THEY LOVED it. When we sail in 7 months they will be nearing 15 and 17!. The oldest insisted that we sail again before she turns 18 so she woud not miss the teen activities. (Picking The Stack over Palo and the spa!!?? )

These are all wonderful to read . . . I'm much less worried about my DS who will be 14 when we cruise on one of the new ships in 2011!!
