What exactly do you get with concierge service?

Our TA called this week to inform us that we are now in room #8532 for the Ship of Thieves in May 2008. Very excited since we are a family of 5 and will need the extra space. We were originally in a Cat 4 and were on the waitlist for any suite. Yes, we'd take a Cat 2 or 1 if they call. Fingers crossed.

I know they'll book excursions, get dvd's, etc... what else do they do for you? Latte's in the morning? :) TIA

Congrats on scoring a mid-ship cat 3! :cool1:

I'll post a link to this question on our meets thread (are you scared to come over there.....it's always hopping I know). We have several experienced Concierge level cruisers and they can answer your questions. I don't have any experience with it YET.....see siggie....but I'm pretty sure there are no lattes ;)

upon boarding you'll be invited to a concierge meet where you can make excursion reservations, Palo res etc. They will stop by in the afternoon with a treat, we got things like personalized coloring books, arcade cards, bag of popcorn with an invite to a movie, etc.

We were in 8562 for the 8/12 Wonder sailing. We missed the perks by just a few doors! Enjoy the trip!

Latte's in the morning is probably the exception, but, forget the concierge service - you scored a mid-ship cat 3 for a 15 day cruise!!!!!!

We stayed in 8032 on the Wonder and LOVED the layout. Much better than the other Cat 3s. And gotta love the triple wide verandah!!!! Oh yeah!!!!

Only downside is we did hear a lot of noise from deck 9. I knew that risk and packed a white noise maker.

we got daily treats. . .$60 in arcade cards, dvd's and popcorn in room, daily visits--how ya doin, anything we can do, personal weather updates etc.

my dh forgot black socks for formal night--they got him a pair from the gift shop and ran them to our room. . .

just the little extras would make it hard to go back to cat4-12.

WOW! YOU S C O R E D! Big Time! I loved that stateroom!

I agree, besides the perks, just being in that double wide room with verandah is heaven! Enjoy!

Although, I do agree with the above poster, it is noisy! You can hear every child running across the deck. Every chair being dragged, very late and very early in the morning. I thought we were under the ping pong table. That's what it sounded like. That was THE only negative. My kids slept through it, we brought ear plugs.

Enjoy, you will love it! :cloud9:

Yup, we heard all that same noise. Funny enough - I had to get up at night to go to the bathroom and heard the scraping of the deck chairs and knew instantly it had to be 5:00-5:30am without even looking at the clock.

I swear the walls squeak in 8032 on the Wonder. DD heard the same thing. We had a bit of unsettled seas and the ship was rocking a bit the first two nights and I could hear a lot of creaking at night. Not as loud as the deck 9 noise.

Last Oct. we were in 8532 on the Wonder and the walls sqeaked in that suite as well. Even with the Deck 9 noises we absolutely loved the layout of the Midship Cat. 3.

Like a previous poster stated it is hard to go back to a lower Cat. after being in a Suite. My DD and I had a Cat. 9 for the August TA repo and even though we had plenty of room for the two of us, I still missed the "suite life".
We will be back in a Midship Cat. 3 (8532) in December on the Magic and I am so looking forward to it.:goodvibes

Oh man....you guys are making me worried that after my 3 day 'visit' in the Walt Suite, I may never love my little Cat 11 'cave' again!

If our visit to a Category 3 after a Cat 6 is any indication, you won't be completley happy again! We've since booked a Cat 3 for December '07, and just upgraded our Cat 7 (slumming) to a Cat 3 for September '08.

And if Walt/Roy becomes available.....pixiedust:

We were in 8534 on the Wonder, and our walls creaked too. We called concierge, and they sent up carpenters to caulk the moulding, so keep that in mind if the creaking gets too loud. If you have rough seas, it can bang about as well. We got no sleep the first night because of it. It's pretty, but can sure be loud!

Good Luck guys and congrats on the upgrade. Concierge are also your point of contact for all the other departments. You don't have to call maintenance if you have a squeek---call the concierge and let them arrange to have them fix it. You need advice on the island---ask the concierge. We often left messages on their machine to request waters, sodas (Cat 1) etc. We had the dolphin excursion booked once when it was moved for the hurricane. We were on board the week before it was moved back and we were hoping it would have been our date --but they wanted to give the attraction time to acclimate. Anyway, the concierge staff arranged for a full refund for us. They dealt with shore excursion--not us. There were enough people on the waiting list to take the tickets. In the past, we have had our safe malfunction, our lights burned out in the closet and requested the upper bunk for one night as a treat for the girls---all directed through the concierge.

I just really wish they would have a hammock section for the suites reserved ahead of time for maybe an hour to allow time to get there and set up. Oh yeah---the porters will also pay extra attention to you getting off. And it is soooo worth getting a porter. I think they realize the bigger cabins often have more luggage because they can store more luggage. LOL They are whisked through the security line to allow them to get back to earn more tips.

Here is what we experienced....

We did have pop and water in our cat. 3 suite every day (Nov./06) plus a treat every day, canapes, chocolate covered strawberries, selection of desserts, fresh fruit etc.

Boarding first was the best, separate roped off waiting area as well. Also, upon boarding you go to diversions for a meet and greet with snacks and bev. with the concierges. There you can book anything you'd like pretty much. They have a separate Palo inventory so you can change/add any reservations you'd like there or at the spa and on excursions.

There is also a nice reception for concierge guests.

They came to our suite every day and were amazing. When we didn't have autograph books for the characters breakfast, they located the store manager (which was closed that early) and brought 2 to the dining room for us. They booked transfers to MCO for us, got the autograph of a princess we missed, and even "magic"ally made the noise on deck 9 stop at night. There was a lot of chair dragging at night as the crew set up for the next day. I didn't say anything for 4 nights. By then I was exhausted and spoke up.

Room service from all restaurants plus only concierge guests can order breakfast from room service on disembarkation day.

DVD/VCR in suite with library of movies available.

Big selection H20 Spa products

Robes for the whole family

No need to line up at guest services for excursions or anything else. They take care of everything and deliver tickets to your room

Lithograph given to you on the last day.

The suites are amazing. The service is beyond anything I've ever experienced. I miss Sandie and Arnaldo. They made us feel like royalty.

That's just off the top of my head.

We're hooked on concierge!

What about ordering meals served in your room from the 4 restaurants? Is that restricted to Cat 1?

Thanks in advance!
Brandie

We are booked in room # 8548 for the 5 night DD next september, so i am subscribing to this!
My inlaws just got back from a cat. 3 - 4night cruise yesterday, and they said the service was wonderful, the concierge planned all their stuff, brought them extra luggage tags (2 full sets - for me!LOL) and gave them a lithio from Don Williams, and other great stuff... We are staying with them next year, and i am SOOO looking forward to it!!
