We are going on a three night disney cruise in october. Can anyone from the UK who has been on a disney cruise answer a few qustions please. We are staying at a disney hotel before the cruise. Can we just take the booking confrmation and passports and just arrive at the port and do all the checking in there or do we have to register anything online beforehand .Also my son wants to wear cargo trousers and a polo shirt for dinner in the evening would this be ok.He is 15.He also wants to wear trainers. Many thanks

if you are doing a land sea package you can check in at resort I think
but I would do the on line check in too to quicken everything up , but if you are not to sure about doing it on line yes you can do it all at port

let your son wear what he wants cargo trousers and a polo shirt sound fine ,I packed some nice clothes for my DS15 last time and he did wear them

3 night cruises seem to be more casual then the 7 night one

please feel free to check out my trip report on our cruise last year
check out the cruise threads here too and see if there is a cruise meet for your dates on the cruise meet thread
have a great time

PS welcome to the Dis

Sorry can't help with the online info, not done Disney cruise for 2 years now:sad1: It will give you latest info in your Docs when they arrive. If noboby replies on here try the Disney cruise section of Disboards they are almost as friendly over there than here,:lmao:
As for you DS clothes, yes he will be fine, last time we went our DS was 11 so he dressed similar to me in a shirt and tie, Now 13 and turned into a teenager and also taking his best friend with us I guess he will be wanting to wear similar to your son:rotfl2:
It is one of the most casual cruises you will find, even on formal nights on 7 night cruise I only wear shirt and tie, only half the people wear tux/suit.

OK

UK cruisers on DCL will have to check in at DCL port Canaveral even if you are on a land and sea package, they will take your passport and hold it in custody until 6am! on disembarkation day.

If you have your DCL cruise line ressie number I do recommend you do the on-line check in it saves considerable time at the port on check in and reduces the paperwork that comes to you in your tickets.

If you have a combined WDW Disney hotel and DCL package, they will take your luggage from your Disney hotel, mine was 8am, and the next time you see it is in the afternoon in your stateroom, so have a day bag with swim costumes and anything you need.

If transfers agreed and paid for you will have a coach pick up time in your hotel to take you to the ship, but often these are later in the day if you wish to get onboard asap, car hire is better.

For shore trips and palos its best to book online asap at 75 day mark to get best choice.

Clothes ok except formal night and Palo if over 18

I think this has changed now and you get to keep your passport and do not have to get up at 6am either just leave the ship with everyone else

I had not heard this. That will be much better if true. With RCCL last year we got them back day before we got off the ship, a lot better than getting up at 6am. Immigration was after you leave the ship in port. Better than them coming onboard.

We did the cruise last week and they no longer take your passport or wake you up early on your last day.

We had a fantasic time and we will definately be doing another in the future.

I would recommend doing the on line check in to save time and we too stayed at a disney resort before the cruise just drive up and park at the port it is so easy. No problem in wearing the cargo shorts. We did Palo and Mark was the only man wearing a jacket.

Our dd13 spent all her time with the teen club and ended up going to bed later than us!!!

our first cruise was on the 3 day DCL....
my son was 15 at the time..
to dinner he wore cargo pants and a polo shirt...(because i asked him to)..
the moment dinner was over, he was back in his shorts and t-shirt....

he spent all of his time other than meals with the teen club and LOVED it....

i've written this before, either on this board or the Dis DCL board - both the first and second DCL cruise (we cruised again the following summer) were MAJOR turning points for him..

up until the cruise, he was not a joiner at all...he was very much stay-at-home in front of the computer (a major computer geek, in the good sense of the word)...

but that first cruise he completely changed.....he went to the teen club and we almost never saw him again (except for meals and for the shore trip to atlantis in nassau)...

and the second cruise (the 4 day) we saw even less of him.......

he had a spectacular time on both cruises....and what's so interesting, he kept that new personna when he came back home...he turned into a major leader back in school (school student president, nationwide head of his youth group, directed the school's senior film , etc etc)...
i honestly believe that somehow that cruise completely changed him...
i'm not sure how or why, but it did...
he still talks about the cruises on occasion and quotes the teen club CMs (who he thought were terribly funny)....

anyway, don't worry about what he wears....the 3 day cruise is very relaxed....

by the way, on my website there are a few pictures from the wonder (mostly of the wonder at CC) from one of our cruises (i think the second one)...

Candy 2 - what date are you sailing in October - we are from Cornwall and are going on the 3 day Wonder on 25th October:thumbsup2

We are off on our first Disney cruise in just over a weeks time:)
I am sure I read that the immigration thing for UK visitors was a trial thing, 90 days I believe. I think that they started back in June/July?

Hi there

We were on the Disney Wonder in July and DCL had just changed the rules that they didn't take your passport from you - it was great, especially as you don't have to get up at 6am on the last morning, you can just get up and leave the ship at the same time as everyone else - you have to show your passports once you have picked up your suitcases

Here's my trip report of my 3 night cruise (if you're interested) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1536771

Have fun planning

Mandy :)
