Anything GOOD about AKL club level?

I just made a reservation on the standard club level for January. Now I'm kind of bummed reading all the negative stuff about the club level. Anyone have good things to say that will encourage me to keep this ressie and not just downgrade to a pool view or standard view room?

Also, you can book Club Level only Safaris, which is why we are staying on this level. Sunrise Safari gives you a special early morning tour of the animals before the park opens. Sunset Safari gives you a special tour of the animals at the lodge. Ask for the Itinerary Planning Office and they will provide you with all the information you need.
 
We enjoyed our stay. They seem to have the best Savannah view rooms in their "block". The Sunrise Safari is wonderful.

You have to evaluate the services you would use from their planners and/or lounge "goodies" to determine if this is the best use of your vacation $$.
 


The view of the lobby from the lounge is incredible. Just beautiful.

I haven't read the negative reviews you spoke of but we enjoyed our one stay there and have 2 short DVC AKL concierge stays booked.

I've just several threads about the staff being fairly unfriendly and unhelpful.

If I'm paying extra, I expect something extra -- helpful and friendly staff?

Sounds like a fair expectation.

We did find the CMs helpful as well as friendly. For the most part, they maintained a professional distance unless approached. It is a small enough area that it is probably the best approach.

They are very helpful, you just have to ask. I would guess that they are also affected by all the changes with DVC and the temporary move they had to endure but if you treat them nicely and with respect, they will do the same. And, the IPO staff is the absolute best on Disney property so take advantage of the planning services they offer.

You will get a better view room and the safaris they offer are well worth the price.
 
We've stayed there several times and always felt the CM's in concierge were extremely helpful and friendly. I don't really want CM's "in our face" or trying to socialize in the lounge when we're there to relax or socialize with our families. I don't consider this aloof but to me is professional distance. Anytime we needed something there was always a CM or two available or a phone call away. I couldn't say enough good things about our experiences at AKL concierge with the CM's, the ability to do the special safari's and with the food selections offered in the lounge. We were thrilled when they added that category to DVC so we can use our points there and have a trip booked already over Memorial week. Don't be discouraged- I think you'll find yourself having a very special vacation and will be spoiled by staying concierge at AKL.---Kathy
