Anyone have any comments on this resort? Staying in December! Do the rooms have fridges or do you have to rent them, hairdryers? What is the best location to stay in?

Friendly, family atmosphere, nicely decorated rooms, very peaceful. The rooms come with a little frig, hair dryer, coffee maker, iron and ironing board.

We were in Alligator Bayou, and very happy with that. We just left it up to the room assigner to decide where we'd be. Only said we were looking forward to a peaceful, relaxing vacation.

Have a wonderful time at POR!

Best location depends on what you are looking for. It is a beautiful resort.
Do you need to be near food court? pools, River, parking lot, bus stops?

Best resort in mine and DW's opinion. Love it there. Big and spread out. Make sure you arrive in the daytime to orient yourself. :thumbsup2

Check the FAQ thread for some good information. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=396424

We stayed there in 2005 and enjoyed it. We were near a quiet pool, and had it almost to ourselves. We were also not terribly far from the food court which had a good selection. It was refurbished earlier this year and the atmosphere is even better than it was during our stay there (we always walk over at least once when we stay at POFQ).

And at least once take the boat to DTD. We NEVER take the bus there anymore. The boat takes a little longer, and even with a full boat it never feels crowded and the ride is very relaxing.

We stayed there just a few weeks ago. We really liked it. Yes to Fridge and Hairdrier.

One thing that bothered me. We are a family of five, so we had to book Riverside for the trundle bed. But, we were part of a Grand Gathering so they put us all in four rooms right next to each other. We were in Magnolia Bend (Parterre Place), no trundle bed. The trundle beds are only in Alligator Bayou.

I guess I did not specifically request a room with a trundle bed, but Disney required us to book in POR to accomodate a family of five. I guess I shouldn't have assumed I was getting the trundle bed.

But, overall we did enjoy the resort and would stay there again, but in Aligator Bayou ;) .

The POR is a beautiful resort. We just love the lush landscaping. Our room was across from a quiet pool and it was a great location. We were in building 39, on the second floor, with a corner room.

We took a last minute trip in July and got a mansion room in Magnolia Bend. Nice location, close to a quiet pool, bus stop and not too far from the main pool & food court. If you are travelling with a stroller, I don't think Aligator Bayou has elevators, so you might was to request a main floor room or a room in one of the mansions, where they do have elevators.

We stayed at the Poly in Jan and thought we might be a little disappointed with the POR, but we loved it!

That is correct about the trundle beds only being available in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort. I do not see how CM overlooked the fact that you needed an additional bed for your stay at PO.

All the rooms have a privacy curtain, 2 pedestal sinks, coffee pot, and a hair dryer

Here's a dumb question for ya! Are the coffee makers the standard small hotel-types or would a coffee lover be better off bringing a full size coffee maker???

It is the standard small hotel type coffee maker. I hate the hotel type coffee, so I brought my own filters & coffee but I did just use the little one. 2mugs of coffee in the AM is enough for me, but DH doesn't drink coffee.

Welcome to the disboards Rebecca!! :wave2:

DH and are our going in oct. for our 25th wedding anv. What I would like to know is there a nice quite room I should ask for?

We will be there in 10 days. I wonder if I should call and request a room with a trundle? I assumed I would be put in one because we are a party of 5. I they can bring in a roll away bed then how come I could not stay any where I wanted to????? I was told POR, a suite(without a discount) or fort wilderness or 2 rooms?????? :confused3 Chrsi

We just returned from a 10 day stay. This is a great resort to kick back and relax. We were in AB building 18, close to everything. Have a great time!!! I miss it already.

The rooms were very nice, the property decorated nicely for the holidays and it was quiet. I was just at POP and really enjoyed it also, but I missed the boat ride to DTD!! We rode the boat several times while at POR last year. POR is HUGE! It was quite a walk for us to the food court and about 70 yards to the bus stop through parking lots and paths through trees and shrubs. It was okay except for those middle of the night walk back to the room carrying a sleeping 6 year old. I don't remember what section we were in but it looked like a huge antebellum home. Rooms 91?? & another. I loved having a ceiling fan in the room and the decor, but I am a girl of the south and it was definitely styled that way. You really can't go wrong at this resort. :flower3:

I'm curious, how did they accomodate you? We're 2 families of 5 and booked there because we "had to". Do we have other options at the mods?

This is the quite pool that we were across from in Alligator Bayou last year... building 25... loved it! we spent more time at this pool than the main one. never crowded, and usually looked just like this and it was free dining! you'll love the resort, great to walk around in first thing in the morning.

OMG that pool looks gorgeous!!! We are arriving at POR on Saturday....I CAN'T WAIT!!! I did request bldg 14 but now I am a little nervous I'm not going to get put in AB....uh oh! We are a family of 5 and really want the trundle for my DD3. I'd be afraid she would fall out of the roll away bed....:confused3

We just returned last week from POR. Two families went, a family of 5 and a family of 3. We wanted connecting rooms in AB, not a problem, we were in building 15. It is a great resort, I wish I was there now!:goodvibes
