She shared her favorite song is Somewhere over the Rainbow. And based on her post, I can see why, but it got me to wondering what everyone elses favorite song is.

Mine is Louis Armstrong What a Wonderful World. For some reason whenever I am feeling down, I hear that song and I immediately think of all my blessings. It lifts me up immediately.:goodvibes

AT LAST by Etta James

I walked down the aisle to this song.

At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song

At last
the skies above are blue
well my heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I
could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

ooo yea
you are mine
you are mine
at last
at last
at last
at last

Every time I hear this song, I still tear up and can feel that exact way i was feeling when the first words of the song began & I started the walk towards the most wonderful man in the world.

2 songs are my favorites, At Last by Etta James and Mr. Mom by Lonestar. One is sweet and gentle and kind, and the other is funny, lighthearted and sooo true. LOL

In reference to PO3's song, when DD is screaming I hum You are My Sunshine and she settles right down, DS11 it was Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughn, the other 2 didn't really have anything. We have a Celtic CD they all love but I don't remember singing anything to DS5 and 6.

OOOO I love At Last by Etta James and What a Wonderful World.

Lonestar lyrics

Lost my job, came home mad
Got a hug and kiss and that's too bad
She said I can go to work until you find another job
I thought I like the sound of that
Watch TV and take long naps
Go from a hand working dad to being Mr. Mom

Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the fifteenth time
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr. Mom

Football, soccer and ballet
Squeeze in Scouts and PTA
And there's that shopping list she left
That's seven pages long
How much smoke can one stove make
The kids won't eat my charcoal cake
It's more than any maid can take
Being Mr. Mom

Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the sixteenth time
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr.Mom

Before I fall in bed tonight
If the dog didn't eat the classifieds
I'm gonna look just one more time

'Cause
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the eighteenth time
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long
Oh been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr.Mom

Balancin' checkbooks, juggling bills
Thought there was nothing to it
Baby, now I know how you feel
What I don't know is how you do it

baby, you're my hero

do you guys know this one for the kiddos??

"Let Them Be Little" by Lonestar

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand
Felt so good in it, no bigger than a minute
How it amazes me, you're changing with every blink
Faster than a flower blooms they grow up all too soon

So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

I've never felt so much in one little tender touch
I live for those kisses, prayers and your wishes
Now that you're teaching me things only a child can see
Every night while we're on our knees all I ask is please

Let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

So innocent, a precious soul, you turn around
It's time to let them go

So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

Let them be little

Lone Star is awesome.. but the song that DH and I picked when we were first dating again was..
Alysson Krauss... You Say it best.. When you say Nothing at all..

Actually, DH in the past 3 months has been sending me via email the song of the week... He sends the artist and the lyrics... so, I'm collecting them and for Christmas I'm going to give him a CD w/ all those songs on it..
The song I love is by Big and Rich... Lost In This Moment With You. .When we renew our vows I want to have this song play...
"Lost In This Moment"

I see your momma and the candles
and the tears and roses
I see your daddy walk his daughter down the aisle
I feel my knees start to tremble as I tell the preacher
Don't she look beautiful tonight

All the wonderful words in my head I've been thinkin'
You know I wanna say them all just right
I lift your veil and angels start singin'
Such a heavenly sight

[Chorus:]
Lost in this moment with you
I am completely consumed
My feelings so absolute
there's no doubt
Sealing our love with a kiss
Waiting my whole life for this
Watching all my dreams come true
Lost in this moment with you

I smell the jasmine floatin' in the air like a love song
Watch my words draw sweet tears from your eyes
We bow our heads while the preacher talks to Jesus
Please bless this brand new life

[Chorus x2]

Hey BAMB, You are My Sunshine is what I use to sing to DD... She heard someone sing that the other day and said.. I haven't heard that in a while.. So,when I woke her up on the first day of school.. I sung it to her...
DS11 his favorite song was one I made up about my Booga-Boo...I think each day I would have a new version!
DS6 loved for me to sing.. The ROSE...

You are my Sunshine was the song my Mom and I used to sing together when I was little. I changed the words to "You are my mommy, my only mommy..." Even today it can still make me cry.

OH what a great change of the words!!! :) I love that!!!! :) That would make a great page for your scrapbook w/ the lyrics altered next to it!!! :)

Another great song is Alan Jackson's "Remember When".

"Remember When"

Remember when I was young and so were you
and time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows
and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookn' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

DD doesn't like the words so I am only allowed to hum, good thing too because I can't sing for, well you know what. She is so cute too, if she wants me to keep humming she'll start to hum if I stop. with her buddy (pacifier) in her mouth and rubbing her nose with the corner of her lovey (blanket).

I was going to say, how is your singing if she only let's you hum, but I guess Ms. Princess :bride: has given her critique! ;) :rotfl2:

When my DD was little, I would sing the Coochie Face song from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

You're my little coochie face,
and you're my teddy bear.

Together we're a coochie woochie pair.

Hey, when a song soothes a little one, we parents will sing it any where, any time, numerous times.:rolleyes1

Isn't that the truth...

Boy, you know.. A day in your life is my CJ theme.. if only I could get an entry like this blog going.. the book would be a hoot! :)
