2007 DDP - are there limitations on what you can order?

Ok, so I went thru all the DDP brochure, I've read here online, asked some questions on it, etc. It looks like a good deal for us to add to our Oct vacation. I reviewed it w/DH and he said "whats the catch?" It sounds like too good of a deal. I just want to double check that places don't have limited menus to order from, etc. Its just the same menu for people on the plan vs. people not on the plan. Right?

We were skeptical, just like your dh, before we tried the plan last year. I knew there was no way my dh would be happy if he was restricted to a "lesser" menu. Worse, he would just order whatever he wanted anyway, and the plan would go to waste. He's not the kind of person who will just live with whatever they offer to save the most money. He's on vacation, and he's willing to pay a few dollars extra to get exactly what he wants.

Having said that, the DDP was everything it promised to be and more. We couldn't believe how much we were able to get on the DDP. It was certainly more than we'd every ordered before (and we order a lot!). There were virtually no restrictions, and the few we encountered made perfect sense, like not being able to add a skewer of shrimp for free to your dinner in a couple of places.

So go, get the DDP, and don't worry about the "catch," because there really, truly isn't one (at least not until 2008, when the gratuity will come out of your pocket). Have fun!

Thanks! I called today and changed our package to include the dining plan! I'm so excited now, we have practically the whole trip paid for and the only thing to worry about is souveniers and tips!

Actually, the 2007 DDP includes an 18% gratuity on all TS meals, so that leaves even more $ for souveniers! It is a great feeling to have almost the entire trip paid off in advance. Have fun!

We have been on the DDP for three years in a row now. At all of the places we ate (see the list in my signature below) we received the same menu as others not on the plan. However...there was an extra charge for a couple of entrees at Raglan Road if you were on the DDP. Edited to add: These were the "specials" for the evening. I think this is true at a couple of other places, yet not sure which ones. It was no big deal to us however. We absolutely loved the Dining Plan! :thumbsup2

Just make sure you make ressies for all your Table Service meals to insure that you use them-if you haven't already. The dining plan is FANTASTIC! Have a great time.:thumbsup2

We ate at Raglan Road a week and a half ago on the dining plan and there was no extra charge for any entrees and nothing was the excluded. The only "restriction" I know of is each item you order from the "sharing" appetizers will count as the appetizer for two people in your group. (There is also a "solo starters" section of the appetizer menu and those are 1 per person.)

No, I was not referring to the Appetizers "for two." I was speaking of when we were there in late June and our server explained that we were more than welcome to order the "specials" (on the little chalkboard they bring to your table) yet there would be an additional charge. There were 2 or 3 entrees-one being lamb chops, I believe. :upsidedow

I didn't think you were talking about the appetizers, but that was the only "limitation" per se that we were given to the menu so I thought I would mention it. We didn't get the little chalkboard or any other mention of specials. Though the band was playing at the time and it was VERY loud (but fun!) so maybe the waiter just didn't bother with it. This was a Thursday night, a little less than two weeks ago. :)
