My mom is coming on vacation with us this year. We have 2 separate reservations for our rooms. My family is going to be on the dining plan but she wants to opt out of it. I understand she can do this since she has her own reservaion number.
We are all going to Chef Mickeys for dinner. Can I use 2 of MY credits for me and her? How does that work? We can't get ADRs anywhere for a sit down at the time we want so I figured I would just "pay" for hers too with my credits.
Can this be done?
Thanks for the info!princess:

Not anymore. Disney is really cracking down on people using their dining credits to "treat" others. Your key will state how many adults/children you have on the plan. If your key reads 2 adults then that's what your are entitled to use per meal.

No. Why does she want to opt out? Is she not planning to eat with you all except for that one meal?

If your room key card says 1 Adult, and there are 2 adults at your table, you will NOT be able to do it.

If your room key card says 2 Adults, and you and your Mom are the only adults at your table, then you will be able to do it.

My DW and I will be on the DDP. We have more ADR's for TS meals than we will have credits. If one of us wants to eat lite at some TS meals and we pay OOP for that meal can we then use just one TS DDP credit and thereby extend the number of TS meals we can enjoy?

Yes, you can do this. We've used one TS for app, entree, dessert, and I ordered a light sandwich OOP and shared the app & dessert.

We did it....we had 3 adults on our card....and we had an extra TS credit...and paid for one of our neighbors meals!!

Did you have 3 adults on your card for the meal plan? I will only have 2 adults and 2 children on my card but according to some previos answers to my original post you can't use extra table service credits to pay for someone not on your plan. We are going to have so many extra table service credits that I might just not do the plan.
Can you swap table service credits for counter service?

We actually just did it last week. We had 3 adults on our card, and paid for 4 with it! The server did it no questions asked!!

Maybe doable -- maybe not.
It has become much tighter, and I think that trend will continue.
Never say never, but I would be surrpised if anyone had one extra person more than what is listed on their room key cards that they could treat that extra person.
Even by strecthing your credits and ordering OOP, the restuarant could charge for an extra plate or something.
My gut feeling is there will be less room to wiggle. It seems that way with all things dining any more.
People can always try it and it may work. But just be prepared for plan B. ;)
I think it depends on the server, the restaurant, the manager, timing, etc.

My daughter was in Disneyworld 2 weeks ago and she wasn't on the plan. She was visiting a friend that was staying at Disney. The dad paid for her meal as an extra person with the dining plan. 4 people were on the plan and 5 people ate there. the more spent the better the tip for the waiter/waitress.

If you are going to have several (like more than one)TS credits left, you are probably not getting good value from the plan...unless you're doing one of those Fantasyland menu price vs. cost of DDP comparisons.

If you compare what you would really spend off the plan to what the plan costs, you're probably losing money with DDP.

For those who have been allowed to "treat" folks not on the plan -- if it's happened in 2007, those servers are risking their jobs by doing that. Maybe they're upset with the changes and don't care, but they are certainly subject to discipline if they do it.
