The shortest review of Bongos Cuban Cafe ever.

Last night, we decided to try Bongos after Cirque. We were immediately seated at a great patio table and were excited to finally try their food.

Once seated, we waited. And waited. And waited for someone to come greet us, bring water or take drink requests, nothing.

3 waiters were leaning against a drink station talking - we practically stared them down and even though they met eye contact several times, they were obviously not coming to greet us or find our waiter.

A 4th waiter came out with drinks for another table but quickly disappeared again with not even a glance at our table.

We started to take note of the time. When we had been sitting for 10 minutes straight and saw 3 other tables seated and get drinks immediately from one of the 3 waiters out there, we bailed. We figured that even if we did track down our waiter at this point, it was a sign of things to come and I didn't want to mess with an entire meal like that.

I stopped the manager on the way out and let him know what our exp was and that we were moving to Wolfgang Puck Cafe instead. He was very apologetic and offered to seat us immediately inside with a good waiter but we were so over that place that we refused his offer. He did find out where we had been seated and promised to take care of things.

Upside is that we got to try WPCafe and it was EXCELLENT - review to come later.

Downside is that that single exp at Bongos put a bad taste in my mouth and I don't really have a desire to try again.

I hope others have gotten better service there than we did - the menu looked delicious. Too bad we didn't get to try it.

Sounds like the Classic "It's not my table" routine. The sad thing is that any of the servers with whom you made eye contact could have easily taken a moment and located your errant server.

wow, that stinks! Glad you decided to cut your losses and move to another restaurant. Hard to recover from that experience.

Aimeedyan, good for you in getting up and leaving. If more of us did that when such things happened they would happen less often IMO.

Even if it was an odd occurence and it was all YOUR waiters fault someone should have noticed and done something about it.
