10 days of foot pulverizing fun

We (Me, DW, DS13, DD9, & DS6) took a late flight out of LAX and pulled into our garage at 2:30 in the a.m. today. August 1st - 4th......hiking in Yosemite. August 5th......all day at the SD Zoo. August 6th - 10th.......closed down DL each day.

Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase new feet??? It was simply a fantastic trip, though! From past experience, we knew we were in for lots of foot pain so we managed to pace ourselves at DL and even took mid-afternoon breaks/naps at the hotel. Four days in the parks was perfect as we did not have to rush to get things done. There were still things that we didn't get to but nothing to worry about. However, we all still suffered from the sore foot thing so I'm not sure if it's avoidable or not. We wear the right shoes, etc but I guess there's no magic pill when you open and close the park. If we could solve that mystery, I think our DL trips would be complaint free!

We stayed at the CCI for the 1st time. Super place, super location! Our room was a premium room and was fine even with the rollaway. An unfortunate occurence on one night when we returned after midnight, was handled superbly by the manager without me forcing the issue. I called the front desk to let them know housekeeping had left our door open. I was transferred to the manager and she immediately reduced our rate and the next day a letter from the general manager awaited us along with fresh cookies. We would regularly beat the hotel shuttle as the walk was next to nothing.......10 minutes tops. Although, we did take the hotel shuttle on a few occasions when the timing was right and our feet were screaming! We will definitely stay there again.

The crowds at both parks seemed really heavy although they dwindled a bit each day from Monday on. However, wait times for rides were acceptable with the amount of people there and FP worked great as usual. The longest line, of course, was Nemo. We did it on our EE day getting in line at about 7:30am. We waited right at an hour. Well worth it! Shortly after that and for the rest of the day it was a 2 1/2 hour wait so we timed it right. If you want to do this ride, it's worth a long wait. I just can't justify waiting in line 2+ hours for any ride, though.

We did brunch at Goofy's Kitchen for the 1st time. Again, super! We had a total of 8 characters come by the table including Minnie Mouse. Great interaction but I think all the food on the buffet was even better! Holy cow, I basically ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one sitting! Man, that was good.

We watched the parade a couple of times. If someone could tell me where I can download the "celebration" music that would be great. I just love the part in that song when Walt says "To all who come to this happy place.......welcome". Even typing that makes me misty. We also watched the fireworks again on once occasion. I was able to set up a tripod and get some great pictures this time around.

My personal top favorite rides for DCA and DL would be Indiana Jones, Tower of Terror, Soarin' over California, Nemo, Monster's Inc, Mr. Toad's, Buzz Lightyear, It's A Small World.

Oh, almost forgot. We were hanging out in the shade near the front of DCA one day, changing shoes, etc. (foot thing again) My DD9 was dressed as Alice (spitting image) and my DS6 was dressed as Peter Pan. DS13 was dressed as a 13 year old. A nice lady from Guest Services (Krystal) approached us and started chatting with the 5 of us. She asked the kids' favorite characters, etc. and told us to return to Guest Service either that night or the next morning. The next morning we went by there and they had autogrophed pictures personalized to each kiddo from Goofy, Alice, Peter Pan, and Captain Hook! How's that for out of the blue niceness?

Stuff like that I'll never forget but, and most importantly, my kids will never forget. What a great place to be.

Wow - what a great story, thanks for sharing that! Especially the last part!

I personally can't stand them - but have you tried Crocs? I've heard lots of people say they help. My husband and I wear Clarks or Privas and those are great. Still foot pain, but not as bad. And I've found the MOST important thing - soak your feet in the bathtub EVERY night before bed.

Welcome back!!!

We were at the park at the same exact time. I am so glad to hear your trip was a success. I have no idea how your feet survived 10 days... :confused3 ours were beat after 5!

Glad you liked the write-up. I could go on and on but it's probably best I keep my thoughts in check as I type. I can easily get carried away.

I just don't see myself wearing Crocs and my kiddos just refuse as we've tried to get them to wear them. But, I have also heard great things about them as you have. Maybe I'll give them a go at some point. Soaking the feet before bed is a great idea but I guess it never dawned on us as we were just interested to hit the sack since it seemed to be after midnight each night. I'll have to remember next time.

Yeah, I saw your other post and noticed that. I'm sure we probably walked right past each other on at least one occasion. At this point, I'm not claiming that the feet actually "survived" based on how they feel!

Can't wait to read your report.

Lol...thank goodness there are more people who won't wear Crocs. Check out the Clarks - even the men's styles were nice and my husband refuses to wear anything else now. Soaking the feet is an amazing difference. We're always up late too but I finally figured out that if I do that, it hurts MUCH less and the swelling is much less. Just an extra 15 minutes!

Lol...and now I'm just jealous and so happy to have read your story. I can now wait my next 70 days for a trip. Rest your feet and get ready to go back!

PS - Did you both realize that you are both in Texas as well?

Yep, noticed the Texas coincidence. We flew into DFW but I'm betting we're much further apart now that Adam&Alex'sMom and us are back in our home state!

Yes, but I still think it's the coolest coincidence I've seen yet! Lol...maybe it's a sign - Disney will come to you?

Glad you had a great time, neighbor! (Just down the road in Decatur.) We will be at DL Sept. 3-14. I might have come sooner if I'd know all the Texans were heading there earlier!

After last year, I am trying out crocs this year in hopes of helping the painful feet. Now, if I only had some ideas on what to do for the aching shins and sore muscles all up my legs! (the ones I never even knew I had!)

Thats kinda funny... left the door open for pretty much the ENTIRE DAY... was it like WIDE open or just wasnt shut properly?

The door was open probably 6 inches........enough to easily notice it.

Hey! Hope you guys have a great trip. Have a Dole Whip for me as I never seem to have enough of them while I'm there. Only 1 this year for some reason.

We are from El Paso, Texas and we flew from ELP to SLC then SNA. We actually wore crocs and they were very very comfy.... well as comfy as they could be I guess!!

We had many instances of kind people as well in Disneyland... it really made our experience a great one... from the CM's to the guests everyone was super nice. When we were in line at POC a nice family helped me coax my son into the ride.. he was crying because he saw it was dark inside and I was starting to stress because we were holding up the linebut the people behind us were so nice and convinced him it was the best ride and he shouldn't be scared.... made my day!
