Bonds breaks the record hits #756

As a lifelong baseball fan....this breaks my heart. You're a disgrace to the game Barry Bonds.

I am no bonds fan. I dont get how people in san fran think hes so great. the crowd was going crazy. Hes a cheater. Baseball isnt making a big deal outta this.

Well, then folks - just ignore it. In your minds, wait for A-Rod to break Aaron's record. Tell me that no other player in Major League Baseball took steroids (& whatever else Bonds suppposedly took). Nope - you can't say that. What were all those pitchers taking? We don't know.

So, just ignore it.

And since most of you think that we're nuts out here on the Left Coast, I guess you'll be happy to continue to believe it.

Ive disliked Bonds even before the whole steroids issue. His entire career, he has been a **** to the media and the fans. Lets say he never actually took steroids. If he truely is "that great of a player" he should be an "ambasador" for the game of baseball. He should be the face of the league like Jordan was to the NBA if he was one of the greatest ever. He has never acted like one. He has always been cold and rude to fans and media. The steroid thing was the nail in the coffin for me as far as my view on Bonds.

Look at his first 10 years in the league. Good numbers, skinny guy. Somehow the guys chest and arms swell to the size of a tree trunk in his late 30's and 40's and is setting home run records?!?! It doesn't add up.

Im sure in his own eyes his records and career are legit to him even if he did take steroids and other illegal supplements because at the time he was taking them, they were not banned. To him its "it was allowed at the time so no rules were broken".

Sad to see an absolute legend and class act Hank Aaron have to have his record broken by this guy.

My 2 cents. Rant over.

He is only accused of using steroids for one season in which they were agaisnt MLB rules.

Prior to taking steroids he was already one of the best players of all time. Even without steroids, he'd be well over 600 home runs.

He faced MANY pitchers who were on steroids. A huge percentage of MLB position players were on steroids. It's impossible to compare players of today to players of yesterday. MLB approved substances like creatine, whey protein, BCAAs, etc have just as big of an impact on player strength as steroids. These are substances which previous generations didn't have access to, and they are certainly performance enhancing supplements. I feel comfortable saying that over 95% of MLB players use these supplements.

Is it really THAT big of a deal that Bonds used anabolic steroids in addition to these other supplements. If 95% of players use the stuff you can find at any Vitamin World or GNC, and another 50+% probably used steroids (including the pitchers these guys faced), should Bonds be treated so differently than anyone else in the game? Steroids weren't even made illegal until 1990, and weren't banned in baseball until 2003. If Bonds cheated, he cheated for one year and most of the other guys were doing it too. He's one of the best athletes of all time, and I consider him 2nd to only Babe Ruth as far as baseball players go.

756 is incredible, Bonds cheated no more than the majority of baseball players.

I am personally no fan of Barry Bonds. I don't know whether he took performance enhancing drugs or not. My gut feeling is that he did.

That being said, folks should recognize that all the performance enhancers is the world are not going to make it any easier for a person to hit a pitch from a major league pitcher over the wall. That takes a kind of timing and accuracy that come from talent and practice. Bonds has hit great pitches over the wall and he has hit lousy pitches over the wall.

So, congratulations Barry Bonds.

Well then that just makes it all right...but the truth is cheating is cheating even if everyone is doing it...the record is a sham.

The first time someone gets caught with a corked bat and says other people have done it and gets away with it, I'll accept that it's OK for Bonds* to juice because other people in the league are doing it. The sad thing is Sosa and McGuire were nothing without the stuff. Bonds* had HOF numbers when he was just a skinny kid who came up and could hit for decent power, average and steal bases. It may end up being harder for him to get in now than before.

And for the record once again, he's admitted to using Steroids to a grand jury. He said he didn't know what it was that his trainer gave him. OK.

And anabolic steroids are illegal in the USA, which makes them illegal in baseball automatically. Baseball just beefed up their testing in the past few years. And illegal drug use is specifically mentioned as being illegal in baseballs rules for a long time. Did Bonds* have a prescription for the stuff that his trainer gave to him?

I think it's a disgrace....I actually shed a tear when I saw it....I would've been ok with the record being broken, if it was broken by someone who did it honestly...

Sorry, I don't consider that he broke the record. He did it by cheating and he is a terrible role model for kids growing up today. Not 'big' enough? Well just take some steroids like Barry Bonds.
