Did you get a hair trial?

We're planning on heading down to Disney in December (we're booking tonight!!) for vacation and to perhaps meet with some vendors for the Escape Wedding.

Did anyone schedule a hair/makeup before the wedding? I want to get extensions :goodvibes I'm kinda nervous about someone doing my makeup other than me because it's never been a good experience.:headache:

Did you meet with your officiant or photographer beforehand, too? :bride:

I did a hair trial with Anna from makeovermajic.com before the wedding. She makes house calls (or hotel calls, in your case), but her car broke down that day and I made the trek to her house. The trial was important to me because I wanted to work out any kinks in advance, and also get a feel for the person. Anna was very nice so it all worked out.

In our case, our officiant was our friend that got a notary license, so probably our experience doesn't apply. :)

We didn't meet Randy in advance because we couldn't get out schedules to mesh. He did a phone consult with us on the timing of the ceremony (when he would arrive, where we would take pics, when it would be over, etc.). I wish we had done an in-person consult, however, to go over the style of photography I wanted. Just be clear on what you want from your photographer or even send him some samples of what you're looking for. Don't take for granted that any pics you see (either here, in a studio, or an online portfolio) will be what you get. Clearly, this doesn't just apply to Randy but any photographer. :)

I did a trial run for hair-and-makup when I went for my planning session in March. I'm very happy that I did that since it turned out so well, and now I feel like it's one less thing to worry about. We also met very briefly with our officiant, Rev. Tim Herring, that day. We really didn't talk at all specifically about the ceremony, just sort of chatted for a little while.

I am using Ana from Makeover Majic. I haven't been able to make the trek out to Orlando for a trial (it is 3000 miles away...). BUT, a very good friend of mine does hair. She did a 'trial' for me and we took pictures that I can show Ana. Even though I know different stylists have different quirks it made me feel relieved trying the style ahead of time.

I have not met with the officiant. I have, however, read some great things about him in this board.

just wanted to add

i did my hair trial at home with my regular girl & we took lots of pictures & then brought them with to show the ladies who did my hair, the look i wanted,,,,they knew exactly how to do it after they saw the pictures...so if you cant fit it in during your PS..thats another option....it was fun wearing my hair up like that the rest of the day;)

GL:goodvibes

i work in a salon so i was fortunate to get a trial run here at home and then took pictures down there with me to show Ana from Makeover Majic. I loved how she did my hair!

I can't remember the exact amount Anna charged for the trial, but I know I got it on one of her specials. If you visit her web site, she posts specials from time to time. I think it was around $40, but I can't say for sure...

ETA: I booked her last year, before her rates rose, I think. I also booked during a $25 off special for the trial and got additional $$ taken off since I had to come all the way out to her instead of visa versa. According to cappygirl and Anna's web site, the current price is $100 for a trial. Keep a lookout for those specials though! HTH!

I did my trial session for hair and makeup with Anna from makeover majic earlier this month. I'm so glad I did because now i'm much more relaxed about it. I showed her a picture of the hair style I wanted and she made it even better! She charged $100 for the trial session and then we gave her a deposit to hold the date for the wedding.

I had my hair put up in the UK and then got my mom to take loads of pictures. When the Yacht Club Salon put this up they commented on how useful the pictures were.

I am having a trial done the week before the wedding at Ivy Trelis at the Grand Floridian (they are doing my hair for the big day as well)

I have THIN THIN hair, so I want to make sure I like how they do it. I am using extensions too!!! I am getting the clip in kind to add some volume. My hair should be easy to do since I just want it down and curly!

What kind of extensions do you plan to get?

I don't intend to get a trial. This is mostly because of the extra cost and the lack of time. But also, when I was getting ready for my graduation (i.e. prom), I did a trial run that I loved, but then she did something completely different on the day of that I really hated. Then a few weeks later I went to a salon in a different town for my boyfriend's grad and I loved my hair there - even without a trial.

That might have been a rare occurrence. But I tend to think that a trial doesn't guarantee anything, and that it's probably more the person who's doing it and how well they're able to understand your vision. Good luck!

Also, I was wondering about the Yacht Club Salon! What are they like? Are they a viable option? I hadn't even considered any of the on-site salons, mostly because they weren't listed on the recommended list... Thanks!
