A few more proposal questions ladies...

First off, thank you again to everyone here. Those of you who have responded to my recent posts have been increibly supportive.

That being said, I am planning on going ahead with my proposal to my girlfriend while we are at Disney the last week of August 2007. With time ticking away, I have a few questions:

(1) Ring for the Proposal - It's a longshot that the engagement ring will be ready for the trip. Do I buy her something in the meantime (like a promise ring?). I'm willing to do so, though am concerned that people might think it is her engagement ring.

(2) Engagement Photos - I'd like to set something up photowise, though I am being realistic. I'm guessing that Randy Chapman will be booked (though have a call into his studio). Any other suggestions for photographers other than Chapman (and Disney, of course)? Any suggestions for good photo spots both in and outside of the parks on Disney property? Does anyone have their engagement photos I could view?

(3) Proposal Location - Krystin is not a big Cinderella fan, so I will likely rule out CRT as a spot. Any other suggestions?

Would you eventually get married at Disney in the future? Would it even be a possibility? If so-- you could take her over to the Grand Floridian and propose over near the Wedding Pavilion during Wishes... then in the future if you were to get married there-- it would have a whole lot more meaning. Or maybe you could rent a boat and take a wishes cruise and propose there-- just thinking off the top of my head.

ETA: If you did the boat you could let the boat driver in on it... talk to him a little before hand (let her think you are talking to him about the drinks served on the boat or something) and give him a camera. Have him take a photo when it happens. That way you wont miss out-- and maybe afterwards you could meet up with a photographer of sorts for a few photos. Just a thought.. (if you did this you could probobly mention what you are doing during your reservations so that the driver is already aware of whats going to happen).

I personally would hold off on setting up engagement photos. Even though I would be deeply touched that my DF set up something so sweet for me, engagment photos are something that I would want to prepare for long in advance and I would feel upset if I was not ready. I might want to make sure my hair, nails, makeup etc were perfect for the event and that takes planning. Beauty is high maintence work!

As for the proposal, if she is not a Cinderella fan I agree that would not be as great of an idea as something more original. Someplace secluded and romantic would definitely be better. I actually think many of the places in the World Showcase would be great, and then perhaps you could visit one of those countries for a honeymoon or anniversary trip!

Just curious, I have not read your other posts but why are you going ahead with the proposal without the engagement ring? My fiance asked me to marry him before he proposed with a ring and it never felt "real" until I had a ring. I am not superficial, but it did seem different when I had the ring on my finger. I would think that if you gave her a stand-in ring that she might feel as if that ring was more important emotionally than the official engagement ring. She may not, but I know that I would! Perhaps instead of a stand-in ring you can go another piece of jewelry? That would still be historically accurate.

I know I went pretty long, hope some of this can help!

I see your point regarding the wanting to prepare for the photos. Something I definately should take into account.

Regarding the ring. The vacation was planned first and the engagement at Disney was a recent idea. I'm in a frenzy to try and put it all together. So I'm torn as to what is more important, the ring or the location for "popping the question".

I am so excited for you!! And since you got us all into your proposal you better bring us a TR when you get back!!

The answers I give are only my opinion.

The ring, don't got for a promise ring. I have a friend who recently got married who gave her (now wife) a promise ring. She thought it was an egagement ring and for a year kept thinking that until he gave her the engagement ring. Since you are planning your propsal so soon, I would stay away from the promise ring. Now if you were planning on engaging in a year, I would say do it.

Engagement photo session. I see your heart is definitly in the right place, but this is not a good time to have that. She will probably want to plan that later when she has a cute outfit to wear in the photos and time to prepare herself. I personally got engaged December 18 2006, and my engagement session is October 22, 2007 and the wedding is December 1st 2007.

Proposal location. I always thought it would be romantic to get proposed to under fireworks, so maybe at the finale of the Wishes Firework show?

I'm sure whatever you do will be wonderful, but I agree with the above posts. Hold off on the engagement shoot, and I think a different piece of jeweller may be a better option as a 'stand in'.

I agree on the session. I don't know that it is the best idea... unless you plan it for the END of your trip and propose at the begining. Then there is some warning and she could always get a nice outfit at a nearby shop if necessary.

Def do a proposal that fits her style. The grand one during wishes would be great if it is in your budget. Plus, you can have dinner or desserts catered on it too.

Hi! Who are her favorite characters? What are her favorite things to do? I absolutely love Spectrmagic, so it would have been nice to get engaged after watching that.....Just think about your DF and try to arrange something that fits with her preferences.

I agree with the previous posters that you should not do a stand-in ring.

DF and I got engaged in Yellowstone national Park. He was nervous about flying with the ring.....lost in the luggage or I would see it during security screening.....so he did not bring it. He proposed in my absolute favorite place on the planet, Artist's Point (not the WDW restaurant, there is actually a place named that, LOL). Since a gift was traditional, he gave me a moose figurine (fits with the national park vibe). I absolutely love it and it has a place of honor on my bedside table. He gave me the ring when we got home. So another thought for you is to consider a non-jewelry gift, again bringing in her favorite character....Good luck! I am sure she will be thrilled with whatever you do...after all, she wants to marry you! DF and I will be there the end of August, so if I see a couple get engaged, I'll wave!
