Getting to Kennedy Space center from WDW

Im not sure where to post this. I was wondering if there was a tour group or something that leaves from WDW in the morning, goes to Kennedy Space center and then comes back that night?

I will be very interested in reading responses to this. We were planning on renting a car one day to drive out there, but if there is a tour or something, that would be great. We have driven out there on past visits, but would love to sit back and let someone else do the driving for us and enjoy the trip with other people.

Grayline Tours does a tour to the space center everyday, and you can be picked up from a WDW resort and dropped off (can't remember if it is from TTC or individual resorts). They have either just the transportation, or a package with transportation and admission to the space center. Here's a link to their Orlando page:

We were going to do it in September, but since this is DW and DD's first time at WDW, we wanted to make sure that they have plenty of time at WDW, and left the Space Center out. Have been there myself - the Vehicle Assemby Building is pretty impressive, but then again, most all of it is!

I may get flamed for this, but I would not reccoment the Space Center. It is a pretty cheesy, and I didn't see much educational value. I think it's changed dramatically from what it used to be--it is now a glorified tourist trap.

Changed since when and how exactly? We were there in 2000. Since then? We loved it then.

I think it depends on your interests and your expectations. We went in 1991 and again this past December with our kids and enjoyed it both times. If you're really interested in the space program and want to learn more about it or see it "behind the scenes" then you will probably enjoy it. My DHs dad was a scientist at NASA in the early 70s and he helped design the space shuttle program. My DH and now my oldest son (11 at the time of our trip) have read a lot about the space program and they both loved it. Even our 8 year old son found plenty to look at and learn. I think the coolest part for me was seeing components of the International Space Station that were still being built. It was awesome knowing we were looking at something that would eventually end up in space. It was like seeing a part of history in the making!

It is a good place to visit and we enjoyed it but it is kind of expensive IMHO.

Thank you for that link... I'm going to call their toll-free number tomorrow to find out a bit more about their space centre/airboat tour. Gator tours has that one but it's only run 2 days a week, this site seems to be everyday

I had their page up and had dialed the number when I saw the words "8:30 am on Mondays and Thursdays". *sigh* Just above that is "This tour departs daily and includes transportation to Cape Canaveral from Orlando and return." which is what got me all excited. This tour is the same as Gator then and only runs twice a week. No good for us. I think I'm going to go for the Viator site since the tour and transportation is $66.75 (special internet deal) vs $88.95.

We just went to KSC a few weeks ago! It was very expensive but my 4 year old loved it! She really enjoyed the movies! and walking thru the space shuttle!

it is worth visiting if you love that stuff like we do!

Also a great place to see local wildlife like aligators pelicans turtles!

they have a great program where you can chat with an astronaut it was great!

We were just talking about this this morning. It's a nice drive from WDW to KSC. We were there for that first launch of the Shuttle the summer before last, but, the launch was postponed so we just came home.

The Imax movies we've seen were quite good, and the tours were very moving for someone interested in the space program, especially the views from the control room for the Gemini lanuchs (I think it was Gemini).

Anyway...it's worth seeing again.
