Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

If I want to have my luggage immediately, can I claim my lugagges and then ride on the DME to our Disney resort?

What if i'm bringing a car seat and strollers? Can I bring those on board the DME?

:welcome: :disrocks:

You are free to choose. You may go to baggage claim and claim your own luggage, and then bring it to the Welcome Center and then the bus ... the driver will load it under the bus and you'll get it back as soon as you arrive at your resort. The driver will also load your car seat and stroller under the bus for you.

Just keep in mind that you will likely delay yourself by getting your own luggage versus letting DME take care of it for you.

I have two questions for this thread. First, is it possible to use the DME to transport your luggage to your resort without anyone from your party riding the DME? I will be arriving around midnight and will be renting a vehicle but would like to proceed directly to the resort without waiting for the luggage and have the DME deliver the luggage later.

Second, is it allowed upon departure from your resort to check-in for your flight at your resort with your luggage and receive your boarding pass without riding the DME to the airport?

Thank you.

Technically, you are not supposed to use DME as a luggage delivery service. It is a 'perk' of riding the bus to your resort. There have been reports of people doing exactly what you want to do...but, be aware, Disney could change their proceedure at any time. Besides, DME won't get your luggage to you until the following morning. They have pretty mcuh stopped luggage delivery when someone arrives past 11:00. Now they deliver the bags the following morning.
I would just head to baggage claim and get the bags...it only adds 20 mins to your time, and you'll have your things with you.

As for using DME at the end of your trip, you won't be using DME at all. Only the bus ride back to MCO is considered DME. You are asking about the RAC system....completely different operation, but it tends to get lumped in with DME. You can use it if you are flying out on one of the 'participating' airlines.

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical
Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
motor coach.
2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal
and proceed to the Disney Welcome Center which is located on the B Side on Level 1 and bypass baggage claim.
If you arrive on the A Side, please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1.

You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative
to confirm the number of bags* checked as well as your return flight information. You will then board a
complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
your luggage. Please note if you take your luggage on the motor coach it will not automatically be delivered to
your room.
Returning home. You will receive a Transportation Notice the day prior to check-out advising you of your motor
coach pick-up time and other general information. Your motor coach pick-up time is based on your
flight departure and will be approximately 3 hours prior to that time to allow for multiple stops by
the motor coaches.
Resort Airline Check-In Service. Upon departure, you may take advantage of Disney’s
complimentary Resort Airline Check-In Service for participating airlines. You can check
your luggage and receive your airline boarding pass at your Disney resort so there is
no need to check-in at the airport. At this time, the service is available for guests
flying domestically on these airlines: Alaska Airlines, American, Continental,
Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, and United (including Ted).
*Pet carriers not included. Disney’s Magical Express cannot transport pets
except for service animals.

Yes, yes, and yes - but keep in mind, you are responsible for tipping anyone who handles your luggage. Allowing Magical Express to deliver your luggage, as the system was designed, includes the tip to Bell Services/Luggage Assistance (but nothing covers the tip to, say, the bus driver for stowing and unstowing luggage, car seats, etc).

Thank you but I DIDN'T know that they wouldn't do that and yes I have had HOTELs do this for me before when there printers where down.
Okay, I'm confused. How would providing a flash-stick to the hotel front desk allow them to print your boarding pass if, as stated, their printers are down?

Magical Express started on Side A, and moved to Side B August 20, 2006 http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1201122

I believe her implication is that she'd have some way of capturing the online boarding pass in an electronic file, and would aim to use the flash-stick to transfer that file from her computer to the front-desk computer, when their public access printers in the business center were down. As indicated before, that's a very good way of transferring a file infected with a virus as well, including a virus that could be used to capture guest credit card numbers, so that's why it is unlikely that the front-desk would agree, and surely the front-desk should NEVER agree, to help out in that way.

there are computers/printers where customers can use them sometimes for free and sometimes with a small fee but the front desk always has a computer and a printer.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information and help. However, my experience with luggage at MCO has not been very speeding service. It usually takes between 40-75 minutes and a couple of times because of mix-ups,over 2 hours. With a young child, I want her in bed asap and rested for the next day. In regard to my second question, it will be possible to check-in for a flight at the resort and not use the DME. Thanks. That will give us more time at the resort/parks.

I want to be sure I understood what I read. It does not matter which airline you use; Northwest, Delta, Southwest, Air Canada , Jetblue, Froniter, United or any other airline you choose to fly, you are allowed to the use the Magical Express Transportation as long as you are staying at a Disney World Resort?

Anyone on any airline can use Disney's Magical Express.

Disney's Magical Express (DME) includes round-trip motorcoach transportation between Orlando International Airport and your Disney owned-and-operated resort, AND it also includes one-way automatic baggage delivery from airport to resort (you check your luggage with your airline at your home airport, and you don't see it again until it's inside your resort room).

It's that simple. Everyone on every airline gets the above services if they want them.

It's on the way home that there is a difference depending on airline, and that difference only has to do with luggage - everyone still gets the same bus ride back to the airport.

There is a separate service called Resort Airline Check-in. THIS is where the specific airline matters, and it's the ONLY time that specific airline matters. RAC is ONLY for when you are LEAVING DISNEY. Think of RAC as curbside check-in, only it's in your resort lobby. Only certain airlines offer this curbside check-in at the resorts, and these are dubbed "participating airlines." But whether you use curbside check-in or not, you still get the bus ride if you want it. If you don't/can't use RAC, you bring the luggage to the bus yourself -- the driver loads it under the bus, yu get it back when you get off the bus at the airport, and then you bring it to your airline's ticket counter or curbside check-in just like every other airport experience you've ever had.

Remember, regardless of airline, DME is a round-trip bus AND one-way baggage handling (airport to resort).

Okay....to continue clearing up all the confusion (thanks Disney for contributing to the confusion!!).....
The proceedure of being able to check your luggage at your resort, and then print out your boarding pass is not part of DME! It is a completely different operation. Yes, I realize they have DME uniforms on, but they are truly agents of the airlines. This is why anyone, yes anyone, is able to use this service as long as they are flying home on a 'participating' airline. Those airlines have paid to be included (to simplify here). If you are on one of those airlines, you may check your bags through, get your boarding pass and then take a towncar or a rental car back to the airport. Or, you can board the DME bus if you have reserved it.
Every single person arriving at MCO and heading to a WDW owned resort is entitled to luggage delivery and a ride to their resort on DME. When returning to the airport they are likewise entitled to a bus ride, with their luggage on the bus with them, back to MCO from their WDW owned resort.
DME and the RAC system are not the same thing.

 I have a question about this RAC system. We will be using DME to get to the resort but my DH will be getting to the resort via rental car. I thought we all would leave disney via rental car but it probably won't hold all of our luggage and the 5 of us. Using the RAC system (we are flying Delta) would eliviate our space problem in the car going to the airport, but how assured can I be that our luggage will make it on time and get to the right flight? Are there any special tags I need for my luggage for this part of the journey?

They will tag the luggage for the airline you are flying. It is just like checking in at the airport except you are doing it at the resort.

Disney has done this a lot and you should be fine. They will provide the tags for you when you check in for your return flights.

Ok, I have a question now..... When should I expect my DME stuff to arrive?? We leave in 63 days I believe. I just want to be on the look out for it!! Thanks so much!!:goodvibes

Roughly 4-to-6 weeks prior to your trip.

I'm sorry if this question has been asked but I don't really have time to read all 16 pages or whatever it is. How long does luggage take to get from the airport to your room (rough estimate!) and do they stop delivering at a certain time of night and just deliver the following day? I ask because we will be arriving at 7:20 pm and I would like to leave my luggage to ME to pick up, but don't want to be without luggage for the whole night. The whole stuff for 24 hours in a carry-on thing is not going to work for me because I have 3 kids who have very specific bedtime routines and the thought of keeping all their stuff in a carry-on is daunting, besides all the airline restrictions. Should I just pick my luggage up or will I get it before the end of the night? Thanks for the help.
