Photo Pass Questions

Ok...it's been a very long since I last visited WDW ("Spring Break '90 to be exact).

I'm vacationing with my DH and DS September 15-22. Can someone please tell me what the heck is this photo pass, how do we get it and what is the DVD/CD associated with it? How do we get that?

Thanks so much!

the photopass is a card with a barcode on it. you get the card when you have your first picture taken by the Disney photographer. They scan the card and your pictures will be loaded onto the card. They will then give the card back to you. You can use the same card throughout your trip at all the parks(not sure about water parks, we don't go). You can view the pics taken that day at the photo center in each park or you can look at them at home at www.disneyphotopass.com ,you have to register and input the number on the back of the card.

you can purchase individual pictures at the parks or at home or you can get the CD. I believe the CD cost around $125. The CD is more cost effective if you want to get a lot of photos. You can add borders and other clipart before you order the CD so say if you had 100 pictures taken and then you add borders or other clipart form the Disney site you could have 200 pictures or more on the CD.
You can not add the clipart after you get the CD and the pictures are only available for 30 after the first picture is taken.

A few suggestions is to write your e-mail address on the card and take a picture of the card or write the number somewhere. That way if you lose it you will still be able to use the numbers to look at your pictures.

that is sort of the short version of the whole thing.

At the theme parks Disney has "photopass photographers" throughout the parks. Some in front of park icons, a lot of them are at the character greetings, or just in various places. They will take your picture and give you a photopass card, about the size of a credit card. From then on, every time you have a photo taken by these photographers you give them this same card and they will add the new photo that they just took, and so on. If you get more then one card, that's fine.

Then once you return home, you visit www.disneyphotopass.com, create an account for free, enter in your photopass card(s) number (found on the back of the card) and all your photos are loaded to this account. You can then view, edit, add borders, order prints, make a photo album, DVD and/or order a CD. The CD is currently $125 but it gives you a copy of every photo in your account, plus the copy right release to take them to any photo printing place (i.e. Walmart, Sam's Club, Walgreens) and gets prints how ever you like.

If you visit the Budget Board you will find people looking to share a photopass account and order a CD together to share the $125 cost. To make this work, you must be traveling around the same time because the photos you load to a photopass account online are only available for 30 days. After the 30 days they are unavailable to view or order. We are traveling the end of October to WDW and have arranged to share with 7 other people traveling around the same time. This will make the cost about $20 a person.:thumbsup2

Is there a limit on how many photos you can put on each CD? If you are sharing with 7 people, and you each have 100-125 photos or so, is there enough room for 700-850 photos on the CD? What happens if you are last and can't get your pictures?

I believe there is a limit of 999 pictures per card, but you can add as many cards as you want to the actual photopass account that you create online. I can't believe someone would have much of an issue with the 999 limit though. :confused3 I have heard of people getting up too 300 photos on one CD, but when they've had more than 300 photos in their account, Disney sent them as many CD's as it took at no additional cost. One person who I'm sharing with in October just recently completed a share with several other people from an earlier trip and she was sent 3 CD's for over 700 pictures.

We just completed a share with ~800 photos, and the delivery should be here today. On our last trip, we had 600+ photos (not sharing, just two of us) and they did send us 3 CDs containing all of our photos.

Their system automatically starts a new CD after 300 pictures, but they (curently) will ship whatever you have in your online account.

If photopass swaps become more common and larger (i.e., 5+ groups with 1000+ photos) you can believe that they will change their TOS to only allow one card to be used per $125 CD. (Which, IMO, is reasonable.)

Thank you helpful people! The photopass sounds great, and if you don't want to order it, you can still see your photos and order individual ones from home right? Seems like a win-win situation, of course, it is a Disney idea!

This is my first post so im kinda using this as a question and a test. :) When I was in the water parks last year the Photopass people where on the lazy rivers taking pictures and throwing us the smaller cards on little cords that you could put around your wrist.

Question:
When you view your pictures online, once you get home, can you make more than one border or design per picture before you order it?

Thanks

Obviously my tickerfactory thing did not work or my picture. Can anyone give me advice on that?

you can only add one thing at a time but you can make multiple copies of each pic, so say one plain, one with a border, one with a design. So 3 of the same pic but with different elements in the pic.

Thank you, I think we are gonna have to do that this year I love the signatures that they put on there, Might be a good Christmas Present for my wife.

I also figured out the signature stuff at the bottom

Thanks now I just have to get the right size picture in there so it is viewable. My wife and I have been reading these boards for a few months while we have been planning our trip. And thought it was time to join in on the fun or posting.:cool1:

if you want a lot of pics the CD is the cheapest way to go. 1 5x7 print is $13 which can add up quickly. Sometimes they have codes for 40% off the prints though. Still you'll be surprised how many pics you have taken. Our trip in March we had 200 on the photopass alone. Plus the several thousand DH always takes. And of course there is no obligation to buy any pictures taken by Disney.

Oh and I forgot to tell ya'll that if you order photo packages from some of the restaurants that take pics like Chef Mickeys. On the 8x10 picture that you get at the restaurant there is a code that can be plugged into the photopass website. We were able to get Cinderella's Royal Table and Chef Mickeys on our CD as well. We were able to add embellishments to those pictures as well.

be careful the DIS s very addicting!! :rotfl2: but fun, and you'll meet a lot of really nice people here.

How do you add the borders and such to your photos? Do you do it at the parks? Can you embellish them once you get home?
