: I wonder if this will affect our Dinning Ressies at Boma's and Jinko ???

According to a reliable source, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World will be essentially closed for guests from now until Sept 1, 2007. (This date is subject to change.)
The temporary closure is due to disruption caused by the construction of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas units within the main structure of the Lodge. Apparently the disruption was greater than anticipated and Disney has decided to move guests rather than inconvenience them during their stays.

Disney is calling guests who are currently booked at the Lodge in chronological order to assist them with moving to another resort. Guests have been offered rooms at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and at various Disney Deluxe resorts for the same price they were paying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Each case is handled differently, based on the room type booked and availability at other resorts for the dates in question.
If you booked through a travel agency, your travel agent will receive the call and will contact you with options.

It is believed that the restaurants will remain open but perhaps with limited hours.
I will post more information as it becomes available.

I have reservations at BOMA on July 9, 2007. I hope hope hope they don't cancel those on me.

Anyone have any more definite information???

I made Boma b/fast reservations for 8/23 last week and made them w/ease. Hmmmmmm.....

Over on the resort boards many have called and confirmed that the resort is not fully shutting down and that Boma and Jiko will be open for their normal hours. It is just that the number of avaiable rooms is greatly reduced due to the construction.

We have ADR July 22 at Boma, would really be disappointed if couldn't eat their. This is one of our favorites.

I just made reservation today for August 8 and no mention of the lodge being closed was made.

Disney Vacation Club is taking over the top two floors of the Animal Kingdom Lodge and renovating them to be studios/suites, etc. Then, they are building another standalone building for the vacation club resort (also on Animal Kingdom property) with a pool, restaurant, etc. I sat through the Vacation Club presentation and was told that is what they are doing. From what they told me, only the top two floor will be affected. That is the first phase of the project. The rest will be complete by 2009.

That's what I was told last week.

:)

I was just coming to post something similar... we're eating @ Boma's for the first time in August and I didn't know whether or not to have a back-up ADR in case that one fell through... I guess I'll just keep scanning the Dis to see updates :thumbsup2

Mary posted on another thread like this one. She asked that people not copy things from her website as it is copyrighted material, and also said that if you read it again you will see that she says NOTHING about the restaurants being closed. Jiko and Boma will operate as normal. THere will still be rooms and guests as well, just many less than originally anticipated

But Mary's original report did say that the restaurants might have limited hours, so that is what got me (and others) concerned. For our August trip, we have ADRs for dinners at both Jiko and Boma, so we could be impacted if the restaurants are even on reduced hours. She only recently changed it to say that the restaurants are expected to remain open with regular hours.

The current rooms in the Animal Kingdom Lodge are currently under renovation for use as Disney Vacation Club units... These rooms will be opening in September for use by DVC members. This is the first phase in the construction of a new facility for DVC at the Animal Kingdom Lodge...

Actually the DVC rooms openned this week, July 2. You can read the blogs from a member on deb wills' site. It's very interesting and she was the first one to check in, so got alot of VIP treatments.
