Mailing a package...

I am going to mail a package down to SSR for our trip on 7/15. I am going to be using the Owner's Locker after that so there is no mailing back involved. ANYWAY...if I mail it THIS Friday will it make it there by 7/15? Is mail delivered to the resort directly? I want it to be there by Friday 7/13 so I can call and check on it?

Any suggestions about which way to mail it? I am going to try and get tracking. Should I use the Post Office or something else??

The arrival date will depend on how you choose to send it. You may be able to compare rates online for USPS, UPS and FedEx. All should be competitively priced and can guarantee delivery by date if you wish to pay for that service. We've used UPS in the past for similar deliveries.

You can send your package to the resort address - make sure your arrival date is noted so that the Bell staff can store the package until your arrival. Most of the delivery services will have a means to check on the status of your package online and I'd expect that method would be much easier than calling the resort to see if they recieved a specific delivered item (that could take a loooong time to track down prior to your arrival - while you wait on the phone).

In the future, you won't need to worry about this since OwnersLocker will contact you prior to arrival by email to confirm your arrival and will also let you know when your locker has been returned safely to storage. :teeth:

Enjoy! :)

I would definately use UPS....

I read that the postal service does not recognize disney
addresses.....It will go to 1 place.....not your resort....

I always use UPS...send it about 4 business days before
you arrive.....
Your name and arrival date on package....

We just packed an extra suitcase in April when we used owner's locker for the first time. Actually, we just put all the stuff in one and then were shocked to see that our clothes and things we intended to bring back fit in the other. Normally we'd haul two suitcases back and forth and now with owner's locker, we can probably get away with just one from now on.

That suitcase wasn't empty on the way home though, we filled it with stuff we bought at Disney.

Hey LIGrumpy Girl,
I've shipped directly to the resort many times. When we lived in England, we would order all sorts of things and have them shipped to the resort to arrive either while we were there or beforehand.

Doc is right. All of the services are about the same but I might lean toward UPS. They have a great tracking system. When you go to ship your package, tell them when you'd like it to arrive and they'll suggest which method to use. It shouldn't be a problem if it arrives a few days early, so I'd go ahead and send it now if you want it to be there when you arrive.

Make sure you have the correct street address for the resort. For Example, it's Disney's Old Key West Resort, 1510 North Cove Road, Lake Buena Vista Florida 32830. And if they will let you, put your arrival date as that will help the resort staff.John

I shipped a box down via Fed Ex for our last trip and everything went smoothly. I was able to track on-line and it was waiting for us when we arrived.

I'll tag on a question. Are the resorts pretty good at holding packages even if they arrive a couple of days before we do? I don't want to try to time the package and our arrival too closely on the chance that it wouldn't be there when we get there.

If it gets there on, for example, a Friday before a Sunday check-in does the resort have a problem accepting and holding that package?

Absolutely no problem....

Just make sure to have your name(name on ressie)
and arrival date on box...

I usually time my package to arrive at least 3 days before my
arrival.....Just in case of a delay....
UPS has been fabulous every time...

Kerri....thanks so much for the great information!! :thumbsup2

Like you, I don't like to "cut it close" so I'd prefer to get it there a couple of days early. Glad to hear that isn't an issue.

I appreciate the quick response! :thanks:
