Okay, I'm officially driving myself & everyone around me insane & now I will turn to my fellow DIS members to drive them insane.

I have a trip in May '08 in the works. I'm bringing 2 friends that have never been to WDW. I love playing tour guide. Well, anyway, I'm super excited & going crazy.

I cannot decide which resort to stay in. Here's the thing. I LOVE BWV & have not stayed there in a while & having withdrawals. However, I don't think that resort is wowing enough for them. They are very, I don't know, I don't even have a word for it really, but I think they would need a VWL or AKV experience. So I figure, "well I'm staying at AKV in Nov so we'll stay at VWL." Then i think, "But is the transportation gonna be a "set back" being that it's farther from all the parks except MK? I love the VWL lobby but the DVC is not a really a part of it, it's it's own building. Would they like the animals at AKV? But I'll have just stayed there......etc." :sad2: I told you I would drive you insane. Then I go back to BWV, because, well, really 'cause I just love it so much. I don't know.

Could you wise DVC/DIS members shine your wisdom on this confused & slightly OCD vacation OVER-planner?? :rolleyes1

By the way, my friends, (a couple) are thinking about buying into DVC:woohoo:, so ADD ON THE PRESSURE. :rotfl:

I'm a perfectionist, what can I say? :confused3 :)

I know, I know, I'm over-thinking this way to much. :lmao:

*slap* "Snap out of it!" :rotfl2:

Ok, yep you're way over thinking it, and even though you're an enemy to the real NY team, those guys in the bronx (153rd & Riverside gal here) here's my take.
I'd go for the WLV or the AKV's.
1. Go for the WOW factor. Since this is the first time, I think this will be one of the things they remember. Also remember if this is their first time to the world, you're going to be spending a bit of time in the MK, even there's no kids. I mean, come on- it is the "CASTLE" gotta go to MK.
2. Transportation is not a big worry for me so I'm not sure if I'm real objective. I love disney transportation, first off it's free! I mean if you're taking the train to flushing to see the mets, this is much better.
I've heard horror stories about 1 hour long waits but I've never, ever experienced that. The most I've ever waited for a bus at the WL is 30 minutes. Lastly, I'm on vacation and since I don't tour commando style anymore I pretty much relax.

have a great time, You'll be a great tour guide.

IMHO, the BWV has enough to WOW a first-time/potential-DVC couple. You have the actual Boardwalk there with its entertainment, night-life and restaurants, plus great transportation to Epcot/MGM, and all the other Epcot resorts. Any adult friends/family that we've ever brought are definitely "wowed" by the place (being anywhere in WDW is "wow-y" enough for the kids  ).
I think VWL and AKV are also impressive, just as OKW and SSR are, but for first-timers, the easiest would be your BWV, since you seem to know it well and love it, too. :goodvibes

I think for a first timer, BWV is quite possibly the most wow-ing of all the resorts. When we stayed at BWV it had a totally different vibe - it actually felt like you were staying inside of a theme park. I imagine that the experience of feeling like you are living inside a park would be very cool for your first trip.

VWL and AKV are both going to be quiet at night. With first-time guests, I am predicting you'll be doing more consecutive hours of excitement and less quiet evenings chilling out on the balcony.

Another vote for BWV. There is so much going on at the Boardwalk at night. The Epcot restaurants are right there for lots of dining options. You can walk or boat to Epcot and MGM. And what sight could be more of a "wow" than having a Boardwalk view room and seeing the sun rise over the lake.

Are there any kids?

VWL has good transportation to MK & The monorail system, getting around is not an issue.

Anyplace you stay with a first timer will blow them away. Just enjoy the process & planning, that should distract you enough as you watch the Mets collapse! lol,

BWV tend to be loud at night, If your friends enjoy the night life then maybe BWV will do the trick,

But wait, maybe they would enjoy the animals at AKV. hmmmmmm tought decission!!

Wait, maybe you could show them the resorts web sites and let them pick one!! or maybe do a split stay between VWL & BWV, or AKV & VWL, or BWV & AKV, etc....

Sure am glad I am not in your shoes!!!! (wouldn't fit anyway)lol

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BWV at the Boardwalk all the way.... BTW what happened to your call reagrding AKV?

I agree with BWV. And if you really want to WOW them, don't tell them that you will be walking right into the park from your resort. Let that be a surprise they discover when you do it.

If your friends aren't "wowed" by any of the DVC resorts, well then....:snooty: :snooty: :snooty: ... they've got some issues! :sad2:

But I'd agree that BWV has plenty of WOW factor, especially if you book a Boardwalk View room. Personally, I'd shy away from VWL or AKV just because they are so thematically strong and if someone doesn't like the theme, the wow factor just won't be there.

eliza61- I love the Disney transportation, I'm just worried about waisting valuable time on the bus to Epcot, MGM, AK, DTD & BB. Do you feel like it takes a lot of time? Being that this will be a commando style trip, I'm worried that it will take a lot of time to get to everything but MK.

DVC Grammy, starbox, VrBchJ, DisDaydreamer - You guys are making me LOVE Boardwalk even more- which is probably not helping me not make a bias discision. :rolleyes1

vwlvette - No kids involved. Just me, my two friends & now possibly my brother. You mean watch the Mets collapse the Phillies, right? And thanks for making my decision easier. :rotfl:

Mahusky- Basically, there was a mix up & they thought I wanted a handicapped room & there aren't any yet, so they wanted to know what I would want them to do about it...yada, yada, yada. Ended up being nothing:rolleyes:, but I got a guaranteed room close to the lobby. :woohoo:

You bring up some good points.

IMHO, the BWV has enough to WOW a first-time/potential-DVC couple.

I agree with Grammy 100%. This isn't enough "wow?"

I agree but it's impossible to get a BW view. :sad2: I'm worried about even being able to get 2 BW studios in May, if that's the route I'm going. My home resorts are SSR & AKV, so I have to wait until 7 months. :guilty:

I'm seriously thinking about selling one of my contracts, so I can buy into BWV.

When are you planning on going in May? If it's not around Memorial you may have a chance.

We were at VWL 5/5-8, and I would be surprised if it the villas were booked to 50% capacity(we saw hardly anyone). If it was booked up and that's how it is, I'm adding on there.:thumbsup2

No, I meant at BWV. Everyone's been telling my that I won't be able to get 2 studios at BWV for May 3-10, let alone BW view.

Well I would book one of your home resorts and try to switch at 7 months. You may have to do it day by day, but nothing ventured nothing gained. I really don't think DVC gets that booked up in early May, the parks were certainly not busy, even Epcot.

With BWV's you have Epcot and MGM right at your door step!!! That and the fireworks is all the WOW I need!!!!
Im sure they will be WOWed in any of the resort!!!pixiedust:

I'd say your odds are decent in getting those studios at the 7 month window. I agree with Starr W......book one of your home resorts (both have the WOW factor IMHO) and then try to switch at 7 months.

Good luck!!

BTW, if you really love BWV that much, I agree you should own there. :)
