What exactly is photopass and how do I get it??

I keep reading posts about photopass. What is it? How much does it cost? How do you get it?

Hi.

A photopass is a card given out by the cast members who take pictures around the parks. The first time you'll have a CM take your pictures at the parks, he'll give you a photopass (looks like a regular credit card). That's free. everytime a CM takes your picture, give them that card and they'll swipe it a put more pictures on your card. At the end of your stay, you can go to a disney photoshop and get the pictures you want printed out (that part not free,) you can also get a cd with you pics (about 110$) or when you get home, order them from their web site, to get delievery at home.

On your first use of them, they will give you a plastic card with a magnetic strip on the back. You then hand that card to any photopass photographer for pictures throughout your stay. It costs nothing to get the card and have the pictures taken. It will cost to order prints if you so choose. You can see them at various places in the World (check park maps) but again there is no cost until you purchase prints but no obligation to do so, either. And they can be purchased from home for up to 30 days after your trip, too.

It's all done on-line, if I understand your question correctly. You go to the web site they give you, key in your photopass code and then you can view everything on your PhotoPass card. You choose what you want to buy, the size, and when your order is complete you'd pay by credit card and they'll ship them to you. I can't imagine, on their part, that they don't ship overseas but you could ask the photopass person or at your resort upon check-in. But you wouldn't have to mail anything to them. Does that help??

The first time we went to WDW, the photographer enthusiastically asked if we had a photopass when we stopped to take pictures with our own camera. I thought he was being like some of those photographers in theme restaurants that want you to buy the picture right then. I quickly and sharply said "No, thank you" and walked away. After we learned what it really was, we were pestering every photographer we came to to take our picture. Get as many taken as possible so you'll have lots to choose from. Several of ours were really good. I use one as our family portrait in our living room. So much more intresting and heart-warming than your run-of-the-mill posed photo.

You can buy the CD at the parks. You then have full rights to go and have your own prints made. If you want to add special borders, and other logos and such that disney has, you have to do that from a computer, via the internet, then order the CD and have it mailed to you. So, if you just want exactly what they took at the park, you can get it before you leave, if you want to add any special borders and stuff, you'd have to do it and mail it. So it sounds like maybe just getting it at the park would work the best for you.

And I use the same photopass the whole time we are there? And it works at MNSSHP also?
GREAT! Now, how hard is it to find one of the photographers? Our first stop is AK ....

If I remember correctly I believe you can purchase your pictures from PhotoPass while you're there. There are locations in each park that you can visit and view your photos there, and I believe you can purchase the pictures and the CD then. Asking for verification on this point, please.

Two things to keep in mind: these locations are CROWDED and the pictures aren't cheap. Also, if you do decide to use PhotoPass, take a digital or cell phone picture of your card, or write the number on a piece of paper and put it in a safe place. The numbers tend to wear off quickly from the card.

The photographers are everywhere. Usually at all angles of something major like the Cinderella's Castle, Spaceship Earth, etc. You'll know them when you see them.

The photographers are EVERYWHERE. When we went last fall we did not understand how it worked until mid week. Once we figured out how it worked we stopped every time we saw a photgrapher. We ended up buying the CD in the park on our lst night on the way out for $100 or so and we had 67 pictures on it. ALL pro quality with ALL of our family in them and we can print at will or email them to family or what ever. I used them to make a DVD slide show set to music for our kids to watch. One of the best ideas Disney has come up with. I would bet you could get over 100 photos in a week and that figures out to less than $1 per picture and that is just plain hard to beat!

Let's say I'm going on a trip with several adults.... Most of the time we will be splitting up. (some of us have kids, teens, or even some are single.). Is it possible to get more than one photopass, for the same account, OR is it possible to get a few photopasses, and then have all the pictures put together with out us guests manually doing it from home?

This way when we are seperated, each "team" leader could hypothedically carry a photopass, and the group can get pictures when the oppertunity hits, but we all can have them? Does that make sense?
