What is the better view at BWV - preferred of Boardwalk?

We are going to be booking a trip for next Spring/Summer and I was wondering what is the better view at BWV. Or what can you see from either Preferred or Boardwalk view?

Thanks

Boardwalk view. You see.... the Boardwalk! It's great!

If you choose Boardwalk view, then you are guaranteed a view overlooking the boardwalk. The preferred view guarantees that you will not be overlooking the parking lot, but you could just be overlooking a grassy area (what Disney would actually call a 'garden'). Personally - either spend the points and get the boardwalk view or just get the standard view. I've done all three views and won't spend the extra points to look at the grass, a garden, or a pool. I'd much rather spend the points and overlook the boardwalk, see BCV, YC, and Epcot. We really don't spend much time on our balcony anyway, so it will really depend on how much time you spend out on your balcony. Keep in mind that BW view is hard to book.

I prefer the Boardwalk View, although I have had a nice view of the canal going to MGM a couple of times when I booked Preferred. However, I only booked "Preferred" because I waited too late to book the BW view. If you really want Boardwalk View OR Standard View, you need to book early in your window. Also, I want to say "hello" and welcome to the boards since I am just 50 miles up the Miss. River from you in Arkansas.

Since boardwalk view and preferred view are the same number of points, we always try for the boardwalk view first. If I can't get that I try for a standard view for less points. Preferred is my last choice.

I totally agree with John. We either book Boardwalk view or standard. We always book 11 months out and no matter what time of year it is, I call day by day. It kills me to spend preferred points for a garden view. It kills me to spend preferred points, period, but you cannot beat the Boardwalk view. Cheap as I am with the points, we have a Boardwalk view for December. Last year we hung Christmas lights out, and you could spot them a mile away. It was really neat. January, however, we're back to standard. Gotta stretch those points!

Just got back on Saturday. We were lucky enough to have the best view ever, room 5051. It overlooked the courtyard and had a great view of Epcot. We would sit every morning on our balcony and in the evening, just did some "peopel watching". I vote for a Boardwalk View!:thumbsup2

Is the BWV your home resort? You'll need that advantage to get the BW view.

We are going soon and have a BW view and I can't wait. We've never stayed at BWV so I can't comment on which is better, but I would hope it's the BW view.

My home resort is not BWV and I was able to get a BW view at 6 months out. I guess I got lucky.

May I ask...is Room 5051 a Studio or 1-bedroom? Thanks.:goodvibes

We did BWV last June (06) and loved it!!

BUT, I screwed up... NOW, DW likes that view, and I am "cheap" on pts, so I like the standard view, but she loves BW view....

Maybe a fight in the house!!!!!:goodvibes

Thanks everyone.

I normally would also be cheap on spending the extra points on a Boardwalk view versus a Standard view but the resale we bought has 150 2006 points that we have to use next Summer, so we went ahead and booked the first 4 nights in a Boardwalk view, we will have to call each of the next mornings to get the remainined 4 days booked. I wish you could call and book for your whole stay 11 months out of the first night, but I guess you can't have everything.

IMHO the boardwalk views are the best in DISNEY!

Definitely get a BW view. We had a 2 BR BW view on our last trip and it was great. Being able to view Spaceship Earth and the Boardwalk whenever you wanted was the best. Our villa was right above the Big River Grille on the right side if you are loking at the grille.

So tell me, if you book a preferred view (because BW view is not available) can you "waitlist" for the BW view? Or is this not possible since they are technically the same category of view? I would like to book for next March - and know that the BW view will likely not be an option at the 7 month mark, but would like to waitlist for it if it is possible.

Yes, you can waitlist for a BW view. We have had to do this for at least a couple of nights on 2 trips during F&W and they all came thru (although 1 night came thru the last day before we left home!)

Best of luck -- Suzanne
