New Anual Pass

I just received my "voucher" and I'm a new Anual Pass Holder. Can this be activated at any Guest Services Window or do I have to do it at a ticket window before entering the parks? Thanks!

Any Guest Services location, either at the parks or Downtown Disney, can activate the pass. Many people (ourselves included) like to use the International Gateway GS at EPCOT as it has a lot less traffic.

As Granny stated, any Guest Services location (located at each Theme Park and at DD) can assist. APs cannot be activated at any of the resorts however.

The crummy part is that they will take your nice plastic voucher and give you a crappy paper annual pass. This has always perplexed me, as the machines can obviously read plast cards (They do for the "Key to the World" cards). We have Disneyland Resort annual passes and they are plastic.

Get with the program WDW!

WDW used to have plastic APs very similar to those that DL still uses.;)

I have no problem with the tyvek WDW APs. We've had them for many years and they've never degraded. They also take up less space so if someone in the family is the keeper of APs, all can easily be carried in one sleeve.

Hey, I'm happy that they did away with the old "photo" APs..............they took FOREVER!

We also do the EPCOT back door seems like there is never a wait.

You will need to present your DVC membership card and a photo ID when you exchange your voucher for your AP.

Thank you all for the wealth of information!! Since we're at SSR for this trip I think once we get settled we'll take a walk over to DTD and activate them there.

15 more days........:cool1:

The AP expires one year from the day you exchange the voucher. If you don't plan to enter a park your first day at WDW, and depending on your future travel plans, you may want to wait to exchange your voucher until your first park day so you don't lose a day on your pass. Sometimes that one day makes a difference for next year's trip.

ETA: The expiration date will be the same day plus one year. So if you exchange the voucher on July 15, 2007 your pass will expire at the end of the day on July 15, 2008.

The ap is paper?? Do they give you something to carry it in or do you have to buy something for this?

I agree and I don't understand why some people have a problem with it. We've never had a problem with our APs. The little folder they give you with the AP is just large enough for the AP, a DVC membership card and a DDE card. If the AP was plastic, I wouldn't be able to squeeze everything in.

It appears to be very thin cardboard but people have posted that it is actually a material called tyvek. It is tough.

Yes, you should get a little holder for it that lists the AP benefits and restrictions. Sometimes they run out and give you any kind of ticket holder they have on hand. They also don't usually offer a new holder if they see you have one already...at least that is my recent experience.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear they give you a holder for it.

I've had AP's for the past 9 years, use it probably 20 to 25 days per pass and have never had to replace one. Lately I've kept mine in a lanyard sleeve, it's handy when you want to get it out for admission or fastpass. Also keep my room key in there and any fastpasses.

Another one here who has had no problems with the Tyvek (paper) APs, and we have had them for many years. They do give you a sleeve to put them in, and we often have to get new sleeves before our pass year is up.

DVC Grammy and n2mm, do you recall when WDW switched to tyvek? We've only had APs since around 1995 or 1996. But a fellow WDW junkie showed me her AP in the late 80s and it was the hard plastic picture id.

I can imagine with 4 parks at WDW it could be harder to offer the type that DL has. Who wants to travel to a different park to get an AP. :confused3

Hummm...this is a good idea. But I'll remember to ask for the sleeve also.

Absolutely!!! :)
