The crummy part is that they will take your nice plastic voucher and give you a crappy paper annual pass. This has always perplexed me, as the machines can obviously read plast cards (They do for the "Key to the World" cards). We have Disneyland Resort annual passes and they are plastic.
Get with the program WDW!
Hey, I'm happy that they did away with the old "photo" APs..............they took FOREVER!
Any Guest Services location, either at the parks or Downtown Disney, can activate the pass. Many people (ourselves included) like to use the International Gateway GS at EPCOT as it has a lot less traffic.
You will need to present your DVC membership card and a photo ID when you exchange your voucher for your AP.
The AP expires one year from the day you exchange the voucher. If you don't plan to enter a park your first day at WDW, and depending on your future travel plans, you may want to wait to exchange your voucher until your first park day so you don't lose a day on your pass. Sometimes that one day makes a difference for next year's trip.Thank you all for the wealth of information!! Since we're at SSR for this trip I think once we get settled we'll take a walk over to DTD and activate them there.
15 more days........
I agree and I don't understand why some people have a problem with it. We've never had a problem with our APs. The little folder they give you with the AP is just large enough for the AP, a DVC membership card and a DDE card. If the AP was plastic, I wouldn't be able to squeeze everything in.I have no problem with the tyvek WDW APs. We've had them for many years and they've never degraded. They also take up less space so if someone in the family is the keeper of APs, all can easily be carried in one sleeve.
The ap is paper?? Do they give you something to carry it in or do you have to buy something for this?
It appears to be very thin cardboard but people have posted that it is actually a material called tyvek. It is tough.
Yes, you should get a little holder for it that lists the AP benefits and restrictions. Sometimes they run out and give you any kind of ticket holder they have on hand. They also don't usually offer a new holder if they see you have one already...at least that is my recent experience.
Lately I've kept mine in a lanyard sleeve, it's handy when you want to get it out for admission or fastpass.
