Christmas Day ADR - Very Disapointed

Well we chose a restaurant months ago for our Christmas dinner and after many questions decided it was exactly what we were looking for. Today was finally the day I could ring to make my ADR. And guess what....the earliest reservation we could get is 8:35pm. Thats not going to work very well with 5 kids all who will have been up since the crack of dawn. I'm very disapointed. We have put so much time and effort into planning our christmas day at the world and now we have to rethink things.
There's my winge for the day as I go off to bed feeling sorry for myself. :sad2:

Which restaurant? And is today exactly 180 days? Lots of people do their reservations using teh 180 days +10 advantage of staying onsite.

Tell us which restaurant. I booked our X-mas meal today with no problem. I'm wondering if it was one of the popular epcot restaurants that lots of people have been having trouble getting early ADR's at.

I would suggest trying again on July 2 if you are trying to get into an Epcot venue. We are doing Candlelight Processional on Christmas Day. They informed us the CP packages would not be released until that day and they have the participating restaurants blocked for the packages from 5pm-6:45pm on CP days.

Hope this helps to make your Christmas Day better!!!!

:thumbsup2

We are after LTT and I knew it would be a popular one, but figured if I got on the phone right at the beginning of the 180 day period I would be right. I tried Chef Mickeys as well as choice number two but that was the same. We are a large group so I imagine thats my problem. I booked the 8:35pm but on 3 tables (which we dont want) but I am going to ring back and cancel it today.
Not sure what to do know. We are travelling a long way and want a perfect Disney Christmas with a traditional christmas meal. I know there are a lot of other great restaurants but as this trip is about "a Disney Christmas" we want something uniquely Disney.
Is it possible to ring WDW-DINE and just say what have you got available with characters? Lunch would suit us just fine, doesn't have to be din

Again, if you're not staying on property, many of the reservations were already booked by the people with the 180+10 day advantage by the time you called at exactly 180 days. I"d keep what you have and keep calling back to ask about other openings. There's always a chance someone will cancel.

I have worried about that 180days +10 for the last 10days. :sad2: We thought about staying onsite but even the cheapest room was more expensive that what we could get onsite renting a villa and we would have need 4rooms for us all. And with what we have already spent. And the thought of 4weeks in a hotel room was just awful. There was no option to go offsite. I knew this would make it difficult but thought I would get something. I know I'm winging but I waited for that 180 day mark for weeks to be ready to make that phone call. I'll get over it though. I will keep trying for a cancellation. In the meantime though I think we need to think of something else.

Other ADR's we have during our stay are:
Crystal Palace - breakfast
Chef Mickeys - breakfast
Princess Storybook - breakfast
Hollywood & Vine - lunch
CRT - lunch
50's Prime Time - Dinner
Boma - Dinner
O'hana - Dinner

Hve you tried the Crystal Palalce for dinner ?? We are eatting there Xmas day at 5:30pm and we have breakfast at Ohana's that morning at 8am.

Just a thought:confused3

I would keep checking back to see and in the mean time maybe make a list of a few others and see what they can do for you. sometimes they can have 2 tables side by side and seat yout that way. I personally would want 1 table for all of us , but I was told some families do that side by side table thing to eat at there favorite place.

I know its hard when you have a big group there are 6 of us. We are have CRT breakfast on Xmas eve at 8am and its 2 tables pushed together but its one table really.

lets hope for some openings for you!

I know you had your heart set on LTT and believe me I know what that's like. I'm still disappointed when it doesn't snow on Christmas Eve. But, have you considered Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL for dinner. You could take the 10 minute boat ride from MK to the WL and then back after dinner. I at there one Thanksgiving and it is family style all you can eat turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The food was great and I would highly recommend it as an alternative to LTT and I am sure you could get a reservation for your entire party to sit together. Good Luck.

We are eating Christmas Day dinner at WCC. Tell me, did the turkey dinner come with the all you can eat skillet or was it a pre-plated thingy? Good trimmings? I can't seem to find anything printed about the exact meal (other than the price).

Sorry, don't mean to be so inquisitive, but I love my Christmas dinner!

I too was on the phone when they opened this morning (6 AM CST). We didn't get the time we wanted for LTT either. Ours is for 7:55 PM and I have a little one, too.

We have Cinderella's Royal Table reserved for breakfast, so I figured if we get a late lunch, we should be okay. I am planning to keep calling to see if I can get a better time. In the past, not during a holiday, I have been able to walk-in without PS when the phone lines told me everything was full. I am hoping something opens up later, though.

Oh, I forgot to ask about the 10 day advantage. Can someone explain this to me? I am staying onsite (a DVC member), and when I called to make reservations for our first two days (one day at a time), they would not let me book the other days. So how are folks doing this before the 180 day mark?

Thanks,
Crystal

That's crazy, you must've had a misinformed CM. I'm a DVC member and use the 180+10 all of the time. When you are at the 180 mark you call and can make all of your ADRs for that day and the next 10. It's a good way of getting those harder to get ADRs. I love this feature. You only need to call once (unless you change often like I do). Call again! They will ask you for your reservation number. The last two times I called they did ask me for the reservation number and I had to go to the DVC website to get it as my paperwork was at home. BTW, I call the regular dining number for all guest. I do not call member services for my ADRs.

You got a misinformed cast member.

I had one also, when I called last Saturday to make all my Christmas ADRs.
It was 180 days out from our arrival day & when I first spoke with the CM, he said, "I see your arriving in 180 days, so we can make your first night's reservation". When I heard that, I knew I had a misinformed CM that was only going to let me make one ADR.

Well, after I made the first night's ADR, he started to say good-bye (WHAT??) & I said, "Um, I know I can make ADRs for 10 nights out" & he said, "Well...maybe that's right" & he didn't even go check. He just then let me do it. :confused3

BTW, to the OP, we're doing LTT for Christmas Eve, & there were plenty of times available, even though my group is smaller than yours.

Thanks for answering the 180 + 10 question. I always call the main dining number to book ASRs, but I usually make reservations closer to the date, so I have always been able book all days at one time. This issue never came up before (with the holidays I wanted to call early), so when two different CMs told me I would have to call back everyday, I took them at their word.

When I saw the posting here, I called WDD first thing this morning and asked about the rules and was able to book the dining for the rest of my trip (I got the times that I wanted). She also said the other CMs were misinformed. This board is great. I never would have known had I not seen this posted here. Thanks for educating me. :)

Thanks guys. I have now changed LTT from 8:35pm to CM at 8:00pm. NOt a lot better with kids but I'm looking for alternatives. I will keep trying for something earlier and looking at other restaurants. I will give CP ago but imagine that will as difficult to get as LTT. Would also love to hear some experiences of Christmas Dinner for WCC. I'm a bit confused with this one. Allearsnet says that it is family style with holiday items, but this site says no holiday menu at this time.

We ate at WCC for XMAS 2 years ago. I think it's extremely popular for that day and is likely booked up already. It's very popular with people (especially offsite) who are not visiting a park that day. That's what we did. We arrived around 2:00 and had to wait about 2 hours for our table even though we had a reservation. I think people tended to linger over their meal longer that day, so they became very backed up. I do recall that it was raining so nobody was eager to return to a park. It was a set menu for that day and higher than usual holiday pricing, but I don't recall the details. This was before DDP too, so I'd imagine it's a bit different now.

Good luck finding something that works. :santa:
