Hello!

We are having a great time on the Disney Magic. Right now, we are adrift in the middle of the Med on our Sea Day. It is beautiful outside and we are having a wonderful day. My husband and I are blogging the trip if you want to read about our adventures! I have tried to post as much information as I can about the trip as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask specifics.

Thanks so much for posting the link to your blog! Which excursion did you do in Rome? It sounds like it might be the Jumping Back... one. If so, that's the one we're doing. For your lunch, was it near the Pantheon? (just thinking that my picky kids might need us to duck into McD's... ugh, makes my stomach turn to think of eating McD's when I could have authentic italian food, but better a happy-tummy for kids than a hungry-tummy.)

And good for you for saving that lady's wallet.

Actually, if your kids want to go to MickeyD's, be sure to take them to the one in Piazza Spagna (Spanish Steps). It is considered to be the most unique and beautiful McDonalds in the world. That was the very first McDonalds built in Italy and they really spent some $$$ to make it look really nice.

We cruise July 28 and it is great reading about your trip! Thank you for taking the time!:surfweb:

Yes, it was the 'Jumping Back to Eternal Rome' excursion and no, we did not eat near the Pantheon. After a quick visit to the Pantheon, you walk to the Piazza Navona and then get on a bus to the restaurant.

I believe the kids were served pasta for lunch. They may have also had hamburger meat and french fries.

Here is what we did for MY picky eater. The night before the excursion, we would order a couple of uncrustable (PB&J) sandwiches from the room service menu - or you can just ask your waiter for some at dinner the night before. My son was happy as a clam and did not have to eat the local food. I understand that you want them to experience the local 'flavor', but hey, I would rather have a happy kid than a hungry kid! I would also suggest packing a small tupperware container that you can put in your backpack so the sandwiches don't get smushed! All of the excursions have about a 2 hour break for lunch - very long, so make sure you have something to entertain them during the leisurly lunch. They also ate rather late - usually between 1 and 1:30 every excursion. My husband and I would always grab a snack from the ship (cookies, fruit, gum or candy left on our pillow the night before) that we could bring along in case we got hungry.

I hope this helps! I am trying to post more pictures now that we are on our way back.

You didn't have any problems carrying off non-packaged food at the ports?
I was thinking that I would have to purchase packaged snacks to take on board so that we would have someting to snack on before the late lunch (we are early eaters normally).

TIA!

I loved reading about your trip!! Hope you made it home safely :) Thanks for sharing!

No, we did not have a problem at all. There was nothing posted that said you could not take food off the ship. All of your bags go through a scanner when you get back on the boat, so they would have seen various food items that we had with us and they never said anything.
