AKV view question

I was fortunate to snag a standard view AKV studio Nov 4-9. I told DH we would probably be looking at the parking lot...but when I analyzed the construction map that came with our AKV information, it appears that our view will most likely be of the pool!

Can this be correct? I don't see where any of the units that will be completed during this timeframe overlook a parking lot. If this is true, then

Value rooms could have parking lot, pool, or savanah view. I believe LisaS has a breakdown. IIRC about half of the values were savanah view. Standard view could be pool, garden or parking lot. Based upon the time the OP has booked only the pool view standards are scheduled to be completed.

I think I will continue to let DH think we will have a parking lot view. Then if we check-in and get a better view, he will think I am a miracle-worker (even more than I really am).

The standard views in Jambo House will only be of the pool. They are the pool view rooms on the zebra trail. They are in a good location, above the Mara, and near the elevator on the zebra trail to go down to the pool.

As per the member site:

What views are available from the rooms?

* Approximately 80% of all rooms have a Savanna View.
* All Grand Villas have a Savanna View.
* Approximately half of the Value Accommodations and Kilimanjaro Club Concierge rooms have a Savanna View. The rest have a Standard View, which includes a view of the pool, garden, or parking lot. While Savanna View or Standard View room categories are confirmed at time of reservation, please note that Standard View room view preference requests are noted but not guaranteed.

I agree with lisareniff that none of the Standard view villas at Jambo House will have parking lot views. I think they will all have pool area views. By definition, Standard View rooms will have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot. However, it looks to me like the only rooms at AKL that face the parking lot will become AKV Value villas. And even then, based on the outline of AKV in the legal documents, it looks like only some of those parking lot view AKL rooms will be included in AKV, so there may not even be that many Value villas that face the parking lot. (Wouldn't want to bet on that just yet -- different documents show a different number of parking lot rooms included within AKV.)

This map might help. It was taken from the "construction phases" map of AKV. I marked the location of where I believe the Standard View and Value villas will be. I also marked the two Concierge sections and the GVs. Standard View is marked in yellow, Value in green, the two Concierge areas are in pink and the six GVs are marked in orange.

This particular map includes more of the parking lot view rooms into AKV than other documents I've seen. Many of the other documents include about 6 AKL rooms on the left side (as you face the entrance) and none on the right side of the entrance.

One thing that the construction phases map of AKV does not show is that the view from that first section of Standard View rooms is partially obscured by the roof of the restaurants below. This satellite view of the AKL pool area will give you a much better idea of what the Standard View at Jambo House will be like. The Concierge rooms will also have the roof obscuring part of their view.

I've never stayed in a pool view room at AKL so I hadn't realized it either until the other day when I pulled up that satellite image. I went looking for it originally because I wanted to see what kind of view a pool view Concierge villa might have.

The Concierge lounge will remain on the 6th floor but the hotel guests staying concierge level will be on the 4th floor I think, based on a post I saw on the Resorts board.

I believe that in Jambo House, the only parking lot views will be from some of the Value villas. I think the Standard View villas will all be along two sides of the pool area. So provided your DH booked a Standard View and not a Value villa, you should be facing the pool and not the parking lot.

And while that will be true at Kidani Village (as far as we know), I don't believe that will be the case at Jambo House because of the Value villas. Ok thanks! I checked our confirmation that came in the mail & it definitely says "Studio Std View Jambo" & I know that when DH booked it, the first thing he told me was that the CM told him "parking lot view". So we'll just wait & see.

One thing that's weird on my confirmation is that it doesn't state anything about our "trash & towel service" day. It has stated that for our other 2 trips this year.

I was told pool or parking lot view when I reserved a standard 1 BR in Dec., but the confirmation came back stating "requests pool view". I did not request a pool view, as I originally requested savannah view but they were not available.
