Hello,

I am looking for some input from those of you that have stayed at the Hilton Head resort. How is the room availability at 7 months for a trip during the summer (June - August)?

We are in the process of planning next year's trips and I am trying to figure out what the odds will be that we can get a room at HHI at the 7 month booking window.

Are there certain room sizes that are easier or harder to get?

Thanks for the help!

We've never tried for HH during summer months (yet), but I've always read here that 2BR units are easier to get during the summer because there are more 2BRs than studios or 1BR. The advice usually given here is to call exactly at the 7 month mark and call day by day. They may be able to give some indication on the 1st day you call IF you need to call day by day of if there shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you can't get your stay booked, try the waitlist.

Grace gives good advice for planning your trip. She is correct in saying that 2BR are easier to get. Remember that the resort is small, so start your calling on the first available day for your 7 month mark. It sounds as if your vacation dates are locked in; if not, being flexible with your dates also helps get a room at HHI. It's a great resort - I just got back last week. Enjoy!

I had no problem getting a 1 BR for this upcoming August. (and I did not call day by day). However, for a studio, I had no luck. so, I think studios probably go pretty quick.

I was on a cruise this past Jan when I needed to call MS for HHI. Missed the first two days and when I called was waitlisted. I told them I would take any size room if it became available. I waited till the end of March and then switched my vacation plans to WDW. It drove me crazy not knowing where I was going and if I was going to get in. I'm thinking of trying again in the furture but will try for a different time. Good Luck to you!

It's very difficult in the summer. Your best chance would be late August as some states start back to school. I had my heart set on it about 3 years ago for an anniversary trip. Was willing to take ANY 4 nights during the first 3 weeks of June. 1 bedroom, used the waitlist. We did end up with 3 of the 4 nights (two of those were the higher point Friday and Saturday), never did get more than that. It was one of my favorite vacation trips!

As mikesmom points out late August is good.

Schools in ATL start on August 13th this year! And of course sports camps, band camps, etc really pick up right before the start of school. Atlanta is a big "feeder" area for HHI overall.

How hard is it to get a GV unit during summer months? Is it almost impossible at 7 months even doing day to day?

I just got back from HHI June 15th and got a studio at the 7th month period. Cast members told me it really gets busy 3rd and 4th week of June thru Labor Day.:cheer2:

Has anybody successfully reserve a GV at HHI at 7 months mark? Perhaps had to waitlist and it cleared, any successful stories to give me even a bit of hope :sad2:

Since there are only 5 GVs at HH, they are a tough find at 7 months during the summer - unless you luck out with a cancellation for the dates you want. You might want to consider having a HH owner make the reservation for you and repay them using a point transfer.

Good luck!

We just got back an hour ago (long drive but worth it) from a 5 night stay at HHI. I called exactly at the 7 month window and was able to get 5 nights in a 2 BR. My immediate family could have gotten by on a 1 BR but I had heard that there were more 2 BR's available. We invited our in laws to repay them for lots and lots of help with the children's taxi service over the years.

Good luck......we had never been to HHI and absolutely loved it. We are looking forward to our next stay there....but it will be a little while since we are planning on going back to the World for the next 2 trips.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just do 2 transfers per year... that would help many, many people.
