This is just beyond me. Ok, so at my bus stop there are two seventh graders whose mothers drive them to and wait with them at the bus stop everyday. Talk about control issues. Its not like they do it because its cold out or something, I mean its June! Does anyone else find it odd that these 13 year olds arent capable to get themselves to the bus?

::yes:: They should get more freedom. Hey, they're 13.
OT but I just have to say I love that Peace symbol you have in your signature!

Not really. They could have mean girls starting fights with them. They could have people trying to beat them up. Also, many kids have been kidnapped at bus stops. Gang shooting is common too.

But yes, it would make me mad if my mom did that with me and I'm a 7th grader. But I can see both sides. I'm sure the parents don't have control issues and do infact trust THEIR daughters, but are overprotective and just don't trust OTHER people.

I can see why they would do it. I guess it just depends. If there's no other reason than the fact that the parents feel the need to, without anything to prompt it, I would be a little peeved.

would it bother me? yep.
but my mom drives me to school every once in a while, if i'm late or something. and i only live like 6 or 7 blocks away.
and when i was in middle school, my mom drove me every day (we don't have buses in my town)
and if it doesn't bother the kids, i don't see any problem with it.

Well I think it depends like if your bus stop is a mile away I wouldn't want to walk it.
Last year my aunt picked me up from my bus stop (which was only a block from my house) because we had a tornado warning. And I guess she thought it took me a long time to walk to my house..

No I don't think its wrong. We used to have this one girl's mom who followed the bus to school everyday. I'm not sure why her mom didn't just drive her.

I don't see anything wrong with that.
Would you trust your 13-year-old if you had one? I know I wouldn't. That's the beginning of the rebellious years, when they'll start skipping school and stuff.

Well, I live in a suburb with nothing really like that. My bus stop only has me and a few other kids there, and no really 'mean' girls or bullies. Its just me and some average kids.

It depends where the kids live. I live on the top of a huge "cold-a-sack" (or is it "cul-de-sac".... or neither????? no idea...) and the bus stops at the bottom of the huge hill, so if I was going to walk to the bottom, I'd have to walk like a mile, and in the morning I'm usually to tired to walk that far. So even though I'm in jr. high, I let my parents drive me. Besides, these two kids live near me, and they're really mean. They commit small crimes in my neighborhood from time to time (knocking down a neighbor's rock wall, spraying shaving cream on the mail boxes, etc.). Anyways, I wouldn't exactly look forward to waiting at the end of my street every morning for the bus with those boys. So my mom or dad drives me to the bottom of the hill, I get out of the car to wait for the bus (unless it's like freezing out), and my parents drive the car a bit away from me so they are watching me inconspicuously until I'm safely on the bus. You've got to face it, the world's not as safe as it used to be.

On the other hand, yeah, kids do kinda need their independence.......
