Hi all! I'm going on my honeymoon from October 5, 2008 to October 12 and I was just curious if anyone has ever been to Disney World in October? My family and I always go in the summer so I have no idea what types of events go on, what the weather is like, how large the crowds are, etc. If anyone has, let me know what your experience was like!

Thanks!

october is one of the best months to visit WDW - at least for adults. That's because of the Food & Wine Festival going on at Epcot then. A great opportunity to try lots of different foods (and wines) from around the world. Plan on spending at least two afternoons at Epcot just doing this.

I LOVE going in October! I've been Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec.

October is one of the best months weather and crow-wise.

As the pp said they'll be the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot.

Also, Magic Kingdom will have the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party held on 5, 8, 11, 12 during your stay. It is held after the park closes from 7 to Midnight. You must buy tickets to attend. It is a lot of fun with a special Halloween parade and special fireworks, the rides, trick or treating and special shows.

You can't go wrong with October! :thumbsup2

We went for the first time two years ago during fall break in Oct. We left 60 degree weather and got off the plane to 90! It was hot all week! We went to the parks in the mornings and evenings and spent the hot afternoons by the pool at Pop Century.

Did the Halloween party in costume and could not wait to get into some shorts!

Only coat you need is the rain ponchos for the rides so you don't get soaked!

if you've only gone in the summertime, you'll be amazed at how nice it is in october. when we went in october, we had the best trip we've ever had. the crowds were minimal, the weather was perfect, and there was lots to do.

My DH goes to a convention every year in October and loves it. Weather wise it can still sometimes get very hot but it's tolerable compared to our visits in August.

You'll love the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and definitely do MNSSHP party at MK. October is a wonderful time to go!!

Oh...you'll be there for the reopening of the Haunted Mansion as well because they are closing it for renovations and I heard sometime in September it should be done. I'm so upset that when we go in August that it will be closed, as well as Spaceship Earth in Epcot, 2 of my most favorite rides:sad:

Oh no! My family and I are leaving for DW in 2 weeks, is the haunted mansion going to be open then? And spaceship earth? When does it close? Is there a link I can read about this at?! Thanks for letting me know

 I'm going to cry!! That is my all-time favorite ride in Disney! My family is going to be so upset to hear that we'll have to wait until next year to ride it! I knew they were renovating Spaceship Earth but I had no idea that they were renovating the HM also. Does anyone know what they plan to do inside of it?

Thanks for letting me know that the Disney is wonderful in October, it gives me hope that our honeymoon will be fantastic! I was worried about the crowds and weather but you all put me at ease :)

Is Brazil there in October. Last time we went in July and it seemed like the whole country of Brazil was there. It got really annoying. They would walk in groups of 50 or so with a flag guide in front and storm any ride or show. We would ask them which way they were going and go the opposite way but it never failed, there was another group waiting for us. They weren't rude just EVERYWHERE. It was quite the cluster.

Well you know how hot it can get here in NJ in August so when we're in WDW it doesn't seem different, only the humidity is higher but we handle it. :hyper:

My sister went in January, and had the exact same horror stories. :(

After awhile you get tired of seeing their color coordinated outfits. It's just one big sea of (insert color). We stayed at AKL and didn't see anyone of them there but the last 2 days we switched to POP and OMG:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We had people banging on our door all night long because they were looking for someone who already left I guess. This is the one reason my DH will NEVER stay at a value again. I blame Brazil.

To OP - congratulations on your Disneymoon! Don't forget to get your just married button - great things can happen while wearing it - besides giving you a chance to smile every time someone tells you congratulations, which will happen a lot
