If you booked on board... can you change categories and get the on board price?

I'm thinking of changing categories. I booked on board and received the 10% discount. If I move categories, will I be charged the price (-10%) that was in effect when I booked way back when... OR... will I get today's pricing (with or without the 10%)?

Does anyone know? :confused3 I KNOW someone out there has done this before!! :goodvibes

I will guess you will pay the current rate. I am not sure they would be able to tell what the rate was when you booked.

You will get current pricing -10% off the commisionable rate. You will still get the onboard credit.

This applies to all members of party.

Ex. You cannot book only one person in a room to avoid putting a smaller deposit down without having to pay the current rate when you add the additional people.

Thanks for the info... I booked very early but today a Cat 9 is only $500 cheaper than my cat 6 if I pay current price. I was thinking of giving up the verandah due to all the smoker (no flames please) issues that I've read lately.

I'll keep my verandah for $500 and pray that I'm sandwiched between two non-smokers!!:goodvibes

FWIW---the travel agency I went with---they do allow you to change cabin categories on the same sailing honoring the price when you originally booked. I was teetering back and forth on which cabins to go with and was told that their system was just set up that way and can accomodate the change. This is at the TA--so not sure about DCL directly.

Thanks Lisa! I do have a call into my TA, but she's in Europe until June 17th!

Would you be able to book a 7 day cruise and then change it for say a special cruise a year or so later if and when it becomes available, and still keep the discount?

That I do know you can do! People book "phantom" dates all the time!

Bottom line for price changes, though, if you book early and then change catagories and the price has increased, you do need to pay the increase...perhaps some TAs eat the increase if it is small but I am sure that if the increase is large, no one is willing to absorb that since DCL charges it.

Would you still be allowed a discount on a 'one off special' cruise - or are they so popular that you wouldn't be allowed to transfer a discount to that - I was thinking if they say had a special southern carribean cruise as an example??

This is not an option for Kim,is it Missy?:rolleyes1

Chris I would NEVER leave you or the other Moonies.... unless of course the MEAP tests conflict with our plans!!! I'm pretty sure that we are still safe... but I am thinking of dropping down to a 9 from a 6 - lots of complaints about smokers on the verandahs... it's a LOT to pay for if you can't use it!
