Is a 3 day too short?

I've cruised with DCL before, I've done a few 4 day cruises and the last one that I did in 2004 was a 7 day.

This year we didn't expect to be able to go on a vacation at all. In a last minute decision, we booked a 3 day for July 5th. This is the only week we are able to get away due to my husband's work schedule. So, it is quite expensive to cruise the week of the 4th of July. We booked the 3 day and I am looking forward to it, but is it too short of a cruise?

Well that would only be three nights and two days. The other "day" is the afternoon you board and the last "day" is the early morning debarkation. IMO that is quite short, but maybe better than nothing?

if that is all the time you have available I think the 3 day is just a good amount of time to getaway. We took a 3 day last year, this year we are taking a 4 day. A 7 day would be nice but for someone on budget and time constraints the shorter cruises are a nice getaway.

If this is all the time you have, and Disney is what you want -- then go and have a good time.

If you would consider Royal Caribbean for example, you may get more for your money or longer trip, but it isn't Disney!

We did the 3 night cruise this past March for spring break. It was a blast but it was very short. Since we had never cruised before we thought that this was a good way to "learn the ropes" and then we could do a longer cruise in the future. The children are now dying to do the 7 night. I so wish that there was a five night option, that would be the perfect compromise.

If we could not be away for more than 4 days we would certainly do the 3 night again. Have fun!!

I'm going on a 3-day this summer after having done mostly 7-day cruises and I'm going in with the mindset that this is not going to be a "short" cruise.

I'm going to look at recent 3-day Navigators and plan out exactly what I want to do on the ship. We won't do Palo this time so that we can visit all three restaurants. We don't plan on getting off the ship in Nassau so that we can get a "sea" day. And we're going to do an excursion on Castaway Cay and consider that as a "port".

I fully plan on seeing all the shows and not blowing them off like I did on my 7-day cruises. I will also try to make the pirate show on time rather than linger in the restaurant.

As a veteran cruiser, you know what to expect on DCL so plan on getting the most out of your time on the Wonder. I'm looking forward to seeing the drydock changes on the ship.

I'm actually looking forward to trying the 3-day cruise to see what its really like versus the 4-day.

If thats all the time you got and want to to cruise go for it this year we are debating booking a 3 but need to decide SOON since it would happen in like 2 weeks so we need to secided if we want or should not

A 3-day is a good sampler, especially made for the person who has never cruised. It's also a somehwat cheap way to get your cruise fix without using a whole week of vacation.

If I lived close enough, I would be on a 3 or 4 day every few months since airfare wouldn't be an issue.

Enjoy the trip!! Yes, after cruising for 7 days, it will feel shorter, but it's Disney, so it can't be bad. Could you rebook while onboard for a longer cruise in the future? Take advantage of the rebooking savings, if you can.

For us there is no other option but traveling the week of the 4th of July (super expensive--especially since we booked pretty much at the last minute). I'd rather cruise with DCL 3 days than another cruise line for 4 or 5 days. We just enjoy the DCL alot. I know that 3 days are going to go by very quickly, but then again, isn't every vacation over too soon?

Believe me, I'll take 3 days on the Wonder -- and be thrilled about it. I will just try to make all 3 days last as long as possilbe!

I'd rather have 3 days on the Wonder than 3 days at work. Or my ds6 whining. Or a dentist appointment. Or pulling weeds. Or having my legs waxed. You get the point.

The 3 day is fun. Of course 7 is great. Our rule on the 3 day is to stay on the boat! It feels longer and less hectic. Having the boat practically to yourself while everyone is hot and rushed in Nassau.....perfect!
We stay aboard all morning on Castaway Cay day. Around noon we leisurely head out to the island for lunch and a few hours beach time while everyone is coming back on the ship. That morning the boat is REALLY empty. Fantastic. Can I go today?

You stole my words!

I suggest to my friends to find and take a three day cruise for a few different reasons:

1. If they have never cruised before, they may not know how the movement of the ship will affect them. Better to find out you are not a cruiser on a short cruise rather than on a long one!
2. It is a rather inexpensive cruise fix.
3. It can provide a nice little break rather than a full-blown vacation.
4. It gives them the opportunity to take other short breaks as well.
5. Finally, if they really like it, it gives them the opportunity to book a much longer cruise while still on board, thus saving lots of money on the next cruise.

We leave in 12 days for our first cruise - I booked the 3 day totally on a whim for DD and I - thought the 3-day would be a good way to test our "sea legs".
And yes - I compared pricing to Royal Carribean - but ....like other posters said - this is Disney!! We know we will love it.

Three day is a great cruise! Went on on lat Dec and loved it. Appreciate every moment and enjoy it!!!!!!!

I love it ("they moved our 7 day ship")!! This is exactly why we booked two back-to-backs on the Wonder for next summer! We didn't want to do the West Coast cruise again and felt like 4 nights would be too short - so we snagged one of the SPH rooms & are paying for the 4 n with our DVC pts. - then we did a cash ressie in the same cabin for the 3 n one (don't have to leave the ship inbetween)! We have never been to CC before so are looking forward to "triple dipping"! One downfall is that we don't have a day at sea...so may skip Nassau on the 2nd stop!
